Introduction

Welcome to my Guide to Parenting. My name is Zedruu, and Ive had plenty of kids in my day. When dealing with the kids in your life, there are a lot of tips and tricks you can use. In this guide, Ill detail each trick you can use to not drown in the struggle that is parenting.

The Early Days

Early in the life of your kids, youll be simply ramping. You are not supposed to pose a threat to your children. Cards like Thran Dynamo, Gilded Lotus, and lots and lots of lands will allow you to slowly build up to your game. You have a huge excess of lands, so dont worry if you have to discard them every once in awhile.

Babysitting

When babysitting, its important to make sure each of your children has fun. Use cards like Temple Bell, Mana Flare, Howling Mine, and Spectral Searchlight to help your kids out of theyre having trouble interacting with everyone else. Cards like Braids, Conjurer Adept, Wild Evocation, and AEtherplasm will allow your children to succeed in any endeavors that they may want to pursue. Your own toys are also quite expensive, so these will be helpful to you as well.

If someone is being ganged up on, as the mother it is your job to make sure everyone is having a fair time. If someone is getting a bit too low, you can use Axis of Mortality, Reverse the Sands, and Avacyn, Guardian Angel to make sure that everyone is being far and having a good time.

In terms of toys, you have plenty to go around. Its your job (as a mother of course) to distribute big toys evenly, like a secret Santa Clause. Use Pucas Mischief, Bazaar Trader, and of course your own gentle hands to distribute toys. As the oh-so-benevolent Mother, youll be distributing only the best and biggest toys. Avacyn, Angel of Hope, Akroma, Angel of Wrath, Felidar Sovreign, Gisela, Blade of Goldnight, Platinum Angel, Arcanis the Omnipotent, and Deadeye Navigator are all fine choices.

For the Defiant Children

In general, your children shouldnt be defiant much. Youre raising them after all; Giving them mana, cards, big and powerful toys, its only natural that they should behave. If theyre showing a bit of defiance, however, youll always have Propoganda, Sphere of Safety, and Ghostly Prison to give you a bit of well-deserved alone time.

In addition, if youre inclined to protect yourself even more, or even if youre just worried your child is going to hurt themselves, use cards like Chaos Warp, Oblivion Stone, Return to Dust, or Forbid to take away those toys from your children for a little while.

For the Defiant Children who Absolutely Refuse to Listen

If you find that your children simply refuse to listen, you should remember that it isnt actually good to let your children win. If they earn the win, give it to them, however it is never a good idea to go easy on them. And if theyre being particularly defiant, then all the better.

  1. Deadeye Navigator and Great Whale combine to create an infinite mana combo. Destroy your children with an infinitely powerful Fireball, or Mill them to death by forcing them to draw their entire deck.
  2. Omniscience, Enter the Infnite, and Beacon of Tomorrows combine to create a combo giving you infnite turns. Use these as you would like, punishing your children adequately.
  3. TAKE WHAT YOU HAVE GIVEN THEM. AFTER GIVING THEM YOUR BEST TOYS, AND HAVING THEM BUY SOME OF THEIR OWN, PLAY THE PARENT CARD. USE INSURRECTION AND BRAND TO TAKE WHAT THEY HAVE TAKEN FROM YOU, AND ABSOLUTELY CRUSH THEM. LEAVE NOTHING BEHIND.

Conclusion

And thats my guide to parenting! Hopefully youve enjoyed my little essay, and hopefully it gives you some help in your own parenting endeavors.
