Puca's Mischief

Enchantment

At the beginning of your upkeep, you may exchange control of target nonland permanent you control and target nonland permanent an opponent controls with an equal or lesser converted mana cost.

You have a lot of good stuff here. Not sure the competitiveness of your group but I think you need more redundancy in your commander's ability. With Assault Suit type effects. You have plenty of. Bad? Good to give away. Creatures that you want your opponents to have.

Other ideas:

Liliana contract 4 demon alternative wincons.

Dread Return reanimation because you run alot of big creatures

Victimize 1 for 2 from grave.

Domineering Will can force blocks and steal creatures

Slip Out the Back protection also can fade an attack while pumping a goaded or soon to be goaded creature

Puca's Mischief mix the board for your commander

Endless Whispers mix the board for your commander

Helm of Possession sac bad creature for a good one.

A full board wipe might be good.

Siphon mind I feel is actually bad. Personal opinion.

Demon tribal due to number of demons might be cool. But I wouldnt lean too hard into it as you want to give away your board.

Yeah you could go with the safer route mentioned in your deck description, esp. with reliable token producers. A bonus from that would be that you could then easily also add more exchange cards like Puca's Mischief to trade safe creatures for mana rocks or something

Oh hey, this is definently the first time I've seen Jon. Obviously a lot of overlap with Blim, Comedic Genius's creatures. Doesn't seem to be a lot of straightforward Donate effects in blue, but I'm thinking the way to go is exchange effects like Gilded Drake and Puca's Mischief, could be decent value. Would probably want some more pillow fort to compensate for those extra creatures you exchange away since they won't be goaded. Maybe something with self-sacrifice as a drawback, e.g. Drifter il-Dal?

This is a really interesting deck idea and a funny way to use a somewhat niche commander.

  • Warning: Jank incoming

If you really want to make someone lord of the salamanders, you could Donate an Arcane Adaptation or Xenograft . Even better, you could use something like Puca's Mischief or Daring Thief to swap it for something nice of theirs.

Holy crap Poopy_butt, Thanks a lot for this very helpful feedback! Currently, I am trying to build a commander deck that includes a Beeble subtheme, where I will include your valuable feedback. Autoinclude: Puca's Mischief.

Awesome! thanks for the clarification on Spell vs Permanent! In that case, Puca's Mischief would make the most sense on a budget, and Donate when I get the funds :) On that note, I should add some more permanents to this deck of various CMCs that would be bad trades.

I have copied this from my post in this thread: Lose Condition Becomes Win Condition, Just Too Slow....

The only way that Sudden Substitution would work on Demonic Pact the way that the OP would like is if they cast Sudden Substitution on Demonic Pact while it was on the stack and traded it before it resolved with one of their opponent's creatures. Then the OP wouldnt get any of the benefits but their opponent would still lose the game in 4 turns.

To the OP: Another way that would work in your colors is by using Puca's Mischief in the deck to switch control of Demonic Pact in the 2nd to last upkeep phase. Stack the triggers so that it's given away after you get the last good benefit. The only condition is that they would have to have a permanent in play with the same CMC as the pact or lower but it does work.

It also creates more opportunities to make trades that are bad for your opponent.

Gidgetimer is correct. Any card that is not land is considered a spell only while it is on the stack. When it resolves, any spell that remains on the battlefield instead of being put directly in another zone, is considered a permanent in play and not a spell. In any other zone and while not on the stack it is a card.
