Puca's Mischief Discussion

leymon on Aminatou, they see me flicker, I'm topdecking

DINOSAURS65556: Thanks for your suggestions. I really like Psychic Battle, but I still like Ixidron in the deck because it's a kind of mass removal, with an effect similar to Song of the Dryads. The enemies have to get out of their ways to kill the 2/2 before they can do anything with them. Also it doesn't hurt me as much with aminatou, a blinkler or Primordial Mist on board. But I'll try the suggestion out to see how it performs; maybe I take out Puca's Mischief, instead.

Thanks for the reference material.

I do like the interactions with Puca's Mischief and Act of Authority though, so ill find the space for em.

The main win cons in the current build are:

Entreat the Angels/ Entreat the Dead because I can ensure they miracle (and cast it more than once a game)

Flickering Iona, Shield of Emeria or Sepulchral Primordial enough to gain presence or shut down my opposition

Going absolutely ham with Brago, King Eternal or The Scarab God abuse with protection

Or just stealing a good board state after resolving Ixidron and ulting animatou (then flickering their really good pieces at my leisure with Deadeye Navigator or Conjurer's Closet).

There are plenty of wipes and removal avenues to ensure I can keep the tempo of the board under control and edge out victory if I keep top decking relevant plays.

My primary deck is Kruphix, God of Horizons control, so this deck is a smattering of ideas that should do well in my aggressively anti combo meta and hopefully won't run a ton of the same cards I do in my main deck. I care more about interactions and "play" than linear strategies in my control builds, since I generally play in a 15ish person meta of very active brewers who can smell combo setups a mile away.

If you're running Puca's Mischief, you might as well throw in a Forbidden Orchard to hedge against not having a legal permanent to swap with the specific opponent you're after. Untapped esper colors, and you could get some extra blockers when you ult Aminatou. Not a huge effect, but definitely better than another basic.

Haha, yeah that'd be sweet! Infinite Reflection is a fun enabler for sure. It would shut down zedruu from giving it away, which is why it didn't survive some of my first cuts. The only cards to give it away are Donate, Trickbind, and Puca's Mischief. My tutor's for those pieces would be Wild Research and Gamble. I hadn't really even thought of giving away Infinite Reflection at instant speed to catch someone on an ETB effect in response to playing a creature. I was able to get off the Rogue Skycaptain + Infinite Reflection + Harmless Offering last night, but a big part of that was that I was drawing 14 cards a turn by the end with Zedruu

hey Regoober, say my opponent has their commander out. If I Mirrorweave the Crimson Honor Guard would they still be dealt damage by it since they have one of those instead of their commander or is it the cards physical presence on the table that counts?

Snacrifice on Zedruu, the EmptyPocketed(<15$)

DankwingDuck I'm glad you're liking it! Cards like Illusions of Grandeur and Puca's Mischief are good cards for Zedruu. Replacing Ring of Evos Isle with Swiftfoot Boots or Lightning Greaves, or Pyramid of the Pantheon with Gilded Lotus are good replacements as well. Your standard and ubiquitous Sol Ring or Command Tower are good too. Bazaar Trader and other 'give away' cards are helpful as well. I'd also suggest hunting for cards that don't require you to own them to benefit (things like Howling Mine or Silent Arbiter ).

As to my Dromoka, the Eternally Broke(<15$) deck, it's bolster(which throws counters on creatures) and swing out with dragons, and take advantage of +1/+1 counters on creatures for effects(remember, changeling creatures trigger bolster when Dromoka's out because they're dragons).

The7thBobba Hell yeah, thank you for those suggestions! Mystical Tutor can be very good since we always playing casual games withouth any strict rules. I put your cards into the maybeboard. I will brainstorm a while and put some of them into my main deck. Puca's Mischief is great but at first I will playtest this deck with Harmless Offering because I already have a playset of the weird cat that I could not use so far haha. Thank you very much bro!

Love the concept! I have a deck muchlike this, called Sharing is Hating.

You might like Mystical Tutor to ensure your wincon.

Also, Puca's Mischief is another passable "donate".

If you donate Steel Golem or Embargo, much fun can be had too.

Stay frosty!
