Reverse the Sands Discussion

PhotogenicParasympathetic - So, you can respond to her own ability by activating her ability again? That seems OP to me for some reason.

Also starting to think of a theme though. Maybe have Reverse the Sands and stuff like Pariah and stuff doll in it too?

Thanks McToters. Tree of Perdition was indeed high on my list but I ended up cutting it due to the price. I'll add it to the upgrade section.

I was considering Soul Conduit , but 12 mana for the activation was too much for my taste. Axis of Mortality is cheaper at 6 mana but I cut it as I already had 5 cards with 6+ cmc. Also, I figured Axis of Mortality is too predictable compared to Reverse the Sands and Repay in Kind , do you have any thoughts on that? Either way, I will probably give it a try in the near future to see how it performs.

I’ve always wanted to build a straight Orzhov deck but have just never been able to pick a commander or commit to it. But Kambal seems dope!

Some suggestions at first glance (not sure if this is the direction you want to go):

Axis of Mortality is hugely political and good be great in this deck. At 6 mana, it seems worth it to me for what it can do to change game dynamic plus give you some extra leverage against certain players.

Tree of Perdition is in the same vein as Axis.

Reverse the Sands , I’ve lost to this... I had more life than my opponent and he pulled this stunt as a trick and killed me when I thought I had him cornered. Super cool.

Magus of the Mirror A little different as that you most likely will never want to swap with an opponent since the goal here is for you to gain life, but you could always let your opponent have a feeling of false security and then swap at a pivotal moment.

And last but not least Soul Conduit same as magus

Other ideas since you should have lots of life:

Bolas's Citadel AMAZING VALUE Slaughter Soul Channeling Circle of Despair Temporal Extortion . This just seems like tons of fun to try and corner an opponent but also attempting to take an extra turn. I’d run it!

Yo Nickals-Tresarry

How tight of a budget are we talking about here? Cards that are under $3 or cards that are ranging from a couple cents to $1?

There are some fun Orzhov shenanigans you can do for super cheap like Reverse the Sands , Repay in Kind , Soul Conduit , Triskaidekaphobia just to name a few.

Lemme know if you would like some more suggestions!

Reverse the Sands, Avacyn, Angel of Hope, Sen Triplets, Death's Shadow, Mirror Universe, Convalescent Care, and Illusions of Grandeur can be cut. They don't really add much of anything or their cost is way to high for the curve your setting.

Necromancy can be subbed out for Reanimate to lower the curve as well.

Reverse the Sands is actually tailor made for this deck.

My most salty was probably when I played against an 8-Rack for the first time. To this day, 8-Rack is still my least favorite deck to play against. Mill is okay, even Ponza is better than 8-Rack. Land Destruction at the very least gives you a chance, because you can't have too much land hate and still be competitive. But 8-Rack is built especially to ban you from playing Magic AND win because of it. I called it a b***h.

Then there's this one friend, and boi is he salty. If he wins it's always because his deck was better and he played better, but if he loses it's because I was lucky or have BS broken cards. You know the type, right? One time I played against his Legacy Mana Flare deck with my janky Kefnet the Mindful Standard and beat him 50% of the time. 'Cos you know, 5/5 Flying God that can only attack when I have 7 or more cards in hand is broken compared to casting Reverse the Sands followed by a massive Banefire.

And the thing is, he still thinks Reverse the Sands and Lava Axe are good cards.

@He_Who_Hungers: I'll consider adding specially Reverse the Sands, since the others might have negative effects in my opinion:

Nevertheless, thank you very much! Every suggestion is welcome and it's always good to hear other opinions.
