The activated ability of Captain Sisay can be used to search out Sword of Kaldra, Shield of Kaldra, and Helm of Kaldra. There are lot's of 1 and 2 mana mana rocks/dorks as well as Untaidake, the Cloud Keeper, so I should be able to hit the 4 mana for Captain Sisay on turn 3. Protection cards like Mother of Runes, and Giver of Runes should help Sisay live long enough to tutor all 3. Shield of Kaldra makes all 3 indestructible, but if one is destroyed, recovery cards like Nissa, Vital Force can be searched out with Sisay to get the lost piece back to hand. With all that, all 3 pieces of ~~Exodia~~ Kaldra should be on the table by turn 6.

Once all 3 are out, for 1 mana, we can repeatedly make a 9/9 with first strike, trample, and haste, but can only have one out at a time. There are a lot of cards that combo off of this, either by being efficient sac engines, or triggering on etb or death triggers. If we have a death trigger, and no other way to kill the Kaldra token, making another one will kill the first by the legend rule.

Some combos include:

  • Altar of Dementia by sacrificing Kaldra, we can repeatedly mill 9 cards for 1 mana, probably enough to kill a player a turn.
  • Blasting Station can repeatedly do 1 point of damage per mana. Slower to kill, but other players will probably have lost life to other sources.
  • Ashnod's Altar generates infinite mana, as well as triggering infinite etb/death triggers.
  • Ooze Garden lets us spend a total of 3 mana (2 for Ooze Garden and 1 for Helm of Kaldra) for a 9/9 creature.
  • Greater Good net gains us 6 cards. Have to be careful not to deck out with this one.
  • Angelic Chorus on its own gains us 4 life for 1 point of mana, but stacks with all other etb/death triggers, and sac engines. If we sac Kaldra with the equipment, instead of killing one with the legend rule, it gains us 9 life per sac.
  • Cathars' Crusade puts a +1/+1 counter on all creatures for each etb
  • Cryptolith Rite can be used for infinite etb/deaths, since the Helm of Kaldra gives him haste.
  • Daxos, Blessed by the Sun gives us 1 life per etb and 1 life per death, functionally 2 life per mana. Deserves special recognition for being Legendary, and therefor the only synergy that can be tutored with Captain Sisay
  • Death's Presence gives 4 or 9 +1/+1 counters. If we use Helm of Kaldra to make a new token, and kill the old one with the legend rule, the +1/+1 counters can go on the new token, which will then give the next token 8 +1/+1 counters, and so on.
  • Fecundity draw a card for every death trigger. Unfortunately it's a symmetrical effect, but creatures Kaldra kills are exiled from the Sword of Kaldra, and won't draw opponents a card.
  • Juniper Order Ranger gets a +1/+1 counter every etb, and also adds a +1/+1 counter to the Kaldra token.
  • Kronch Wrangler gets a +1/+1 counter for every etb, with the added bonus of having trample built in.
  • Lumberknot gets a +1/+1 counter for every death, including any opponents' creatures that die.
  • Mace of the Valiant gives the equipped creature +1/+1 for each etb. Unfortunately, it will fall off of Kaldra every time we make a new token, and won't be attached automatically.
  • Rising Populace gets a +1/+1 counter for each death.
  • Sultai Flayer gains us 4 life for every Kaldra death.
  • Ulvenwald Observer draws a card for every death.

  • Kwende, Pride of Femeref works slightly differently. With Kwende on the battlefield, the Kaldra token becomes a 9/9 double striker with trample, which is often enough to win games. Has the added nice benefit of being legendary, and therefor, tutorable with Captain Sisay.

If Kaldra fails, the pieces of Brisela can be searched out as a backup plan.

Other Legendary creatures, like Trostani Discordant, Melira, Sylvok Outcast, and Urza's Ruinous Blast can be searched out to answer niche problems.
