Baird, Steward of Argive Discussion

musicman3310 should I swap Sphinx of New Prahv for Baird, Steward of Argive ? Ive been thinking about it but a 4/3 flyer with vigilance and a tax just sounds pretty decent in this deck. Kinjalli's Sunwing doesnt do enough for this deck I feel but it would be good in the sideboard.

So, if the Wanderer shuts down non-combat damage (very useful for planeswalkers), you just need a way to shut off combat damage and now the opponent cannot damage you at all. Thus, you can use green for combat damage prevention spells like Root Snare or even white helps - Baird, Steward of Argive helps by taxing any attacks.

Umm...did you mean to put in that Baird, Steward of Argive ? I assume it was a mistake because he doesn’t fit the color identity of the general

Thank you DRmagic2017
Selfless Spirit , Conqueror's Pledge , Pennon Blade and Stoneforge Masterwork are very good tips for which I am very grateful to you, I will definitely think about them I just have to think about which I throw out for them. Maybe you have some suitable suggestions.
Westvale Abbey Flip and everything that goes with it, I would immediately include it in the deck, but I believe that Ormendahl, Profane Prince is considered a black creature, so I can't include it in a white commander deck. For the same reason, I also decided against Archangel Avacyn Flip.

Hi! I like the deck and Soldier tribe is among my favorites. Just some ideas. Lands: Eiganjo Castle for more protection, Westvale Abbey Flip as an alternative wincon. Creatures: Kytheon, Hero of Akros Flip (turns into a Planeswalker easily), Hanweir Militia Captain Flip (more tokens to transform Westvale Abbey Flip), Selfless Spirit to protect your army, Tithe Taker ( Grand Abolisher looks much better but Tithe Taker is a Soldier), Baird, Steward of Argive (an element of pillowfort strategy), Selfless Squire - to protect yourself. Sorceries: Conqueror's Pledge for more tokens. Artifacts: Pennon Blade and Stoneforge Masterwork . Good luck!

Tainted Field and Tainted Wood are nice if you can fetch a swamp easily. Just to keep you updated with the new cards, Baird, Steward of Argive is good pillowfort. Sanguine Bond helps with the strategy. Ohran Viper is effectively a draw engine due to its "deathtouch". Kodama's Reach should replace Nissa's Pilgrimage . Mentor of the Meek got reprinted and it's cheap now. Kambal, Consul of Allocation is nice in every deck. Painful Truths is cheap card draw. Solar Tide pulls a good work here.

Ok, I'm pretty happy with where this has ended up now. I purchased a couple of more expensive cards to add more utility in Aura Shards and Mirari's Wake . Also I have added in ramp package as I now have a few more expensive creatures. Finally I played around with the creature base a little by adding in Odric, Master Tactician in place of Baird, Steward of Argive , replacing Thraben Heretic with potentially more powerful Containment Priest , swapping Banisher Priest for Fiend Hunter as this opens up the possibility of permanently removing a creature with Gallows at Willow Hill and finally, removing Devout Chaplain in favour of Avacyn, Angel of Hope as I now have Aura Shards to fill that role.
I would like to find a way to fit Banisher Priest back in so I have both Oblivion Ring style creatures but have no idea what to remove to do so. My three drops seem pretty solid. After that I think it's just the mana base I need to look at as I have a few triple white cards to worry about and would like to add some utility in at this slot.
