enpc I appreciate the feed back, but there's a few things I'd like to say in rebuttal

Brago, King Eternal is here to abuse planeswalkers by flickering them, also works with Dockside Extortionist (huge mana)Thassa, God of the Sea helps him do this, also helps me get to Voltron with Sisay, love taps with Master of Cruelties

By nature I think Sissay is going to be a bit clunky, legendary tribal will do that to a deck, but for my task at hand and in my meta it works nice.

The lands work well with sack lands, say I sack Scalding Tarn have the choice of Tropical Island Plateau Underground Sea there's a ton of mana ramp and fix purely so I can draw into combo control, hexproof indestructible, with cards like Xenagos, god of reveals /hadclimb, Blackblade Reforged , Heroes' Podium Sisay gets big quick, unblockable it's just fun.

The whole point of this deck is to slow down my groups Arch enemies 3 decks and well, it does that, fast and it's fun to pilot.

With Thran Temporal Gateway in hand I can play Progenitus to the battlefield turn 4!

For my first EDH deck I'm quite happy with it,

The counterpells need work for sure but I'm looking at it,

You've got 19 ramp cards, which with a 5 color deck is fairly high. You could turn a couple of signets into Nature's Lore and maybe Skyshroud Claim as they both can tutor up dual lands into play. Your curve's upper arch is at 3, and with your ramp I could see you possibly having a working deck at somewhere around 34-36 lands. Assuming you want to add 6 lands, I'd recommend Untaidake, the Cloud Keeper, Reflecting Pool, City of Brass, Karn's Bastion, Tarnished Citadel, and Ancient Tomb. Orochi Leafcaller, Heroes' Podium, Blackblade Reforged, Fyndhorn Elves, Elvish Mystic, and Avacyn's Pilgrim. If you want a more control deck, you are gonna have to make further cuts for removal and counter spells, as well as some hate cards, but that decision is up to you. It looks great for a first EDH deck, +1

Seeing that a good deal of your creature base is heavily leaning on Legendary humans(like my Jirina deck I posted here yesterday), you might want to take advantage of that and swap either Citywide Bust or Cleansing Nova for one Urza's Ruinous Blast as it keeps some of your board alive if you're controlling at least a few legends(and assuming your opponent's doesn't). To add to the subtheme, Heroes' Podium, On Serra's Wings and Outlaws' Merriment might be good adds. Also, 5 spot removals is a bit on the low side, but it's all a matter of preference. My EDH decks run 10-12 and 2 wraths. But it all depends on taste and the meta you play in... Hey all,

So, the printing of Saskia in the upcoming SLD has been the inspiration/encouragement/reason I needed to finally start building her, but I am a bit stuck with how to go about it. I currently have a bunch of directions in my head, but I need to file it down to make it work. Here are my vibes so far:

  1. Legends! I have found a bunch of combat-focused/synergistic to goof around with Saskia's ability, and I think a Legends theme could be very functional in a midrange value deck. Cards like Aurelia, the Warleader, Gisela, Blade of Goldnight, Queen Marchesa, Marisi, Breaker of the Coil, Bruse Tarl, Boorish Herder, Zurgo Helmsmasher and Shalai, Voice of Plenty really offer a powerful way to supply the beatdown. I would of course throw in all of the Legends support spells, like Reki, History of Kamigawa, Captain Sisay (also in the SLD, by the way), Time of Need and Heroes' Podium.

  2. Sunforger! I love this card, and being in four colors gives me a bunch of really great targets to get my damage through, protect my board, find my answers to threats and grind out the game. A few stand-outs from my preliminary research include Naya Charm, Boros Charm, Eladamri's Call, Enlightened Tutor, Signal the Clans, Congregation at Dawn and Crackling Doom, and all of the best instant-speed removal I could want in pieces like StP, PtE, and personal favorite: Crush Contraband. There would need to be a couple Sunforger synergies to make this work, such as graveyard->library shuffle effects like Mistveil Plains or maybe even Gaea's Blessing? Not sure about graveyard shuffling effects, so I am open to suggestion.

  3. Curses! Saskia already reads like a Curse on a creature body, so I thought this may be a weird direction to go in! There are several fantastic Aura Curses in these colors, and I could run an enchantress-style of deck using these cards as a way to delay my opponents' plans and encourage them to attack each other instead of me. Good examples of cards to run in this theme are Curse of Disturbance, Curse of Bounty, Curse of Bloodletting, Curse of Opulence, and while not a Curse, Captive Audience is pretty hilarious - especially when cast against the right opponent. I would obviously run the supports cards to make this strategy work, such as the enchantress creatures and enchantment-casting synergies of the like.

So, I think some subset (maybe all?) of these themes and strategies could coexist, but I would love to see what y'all think. What could I do with my favorite badass asskicker?

Heroes' Podium , Daxos of Meletis over battlewise hopilite. deathbellows raider out for whats his face, the minotaur planeswalker - Argnath? one of them. messenger's speed for Mark of Fury , Glory , Spear of Heliod , Heroic Intervention , Trostani Discordant , Brimaz, King of Oreskos ?

take out shrine of nyx, doing more harm than good, swap lost in labrinth for Maze of Ith and / or Maze's End ? Fellwar Stone for early mana ramp, Prismatic Lens for early ramp / filtration?

Loyal Retainers is SO OP. Get legendary bomb with survival, drop it in yard to find Retainer. Play retainer to get back legendary creature. With Volrath's stronghold, the effect is repeatable. I would cut Heroes' Podium as cost to play and use are expensive with a minimal payout.

Maybe add a High Market for additional sac outlet?

OK. NOW the 1 last cut. From there, this will finally reach completion...

Scenario No.1: To cut Heroes' Podium , or To cut something else entirely.

Temporary Resolution: If nobody can think of an alt. idea for a cut, the Podium get's Shenanigans 'd, & at least this deck will be ready for construction.

Suggestions for The Final Cut:

  1. Jhoira's Familiar : cost for all my Legends & Artifice to cost less. Is this truly worth it?

  2. Trostani Discordant : Not sold on this; the only reason she's currently in is that she (They?) is a Homeward Bound on legs. Other than that, not much else, w/ even a 1/4 frame...

  3. WILD CARD: I'll leave it to you petty individuals to decide my fate for me...

Well, what it will be? Not sure if I have to bring back Yomiji, Who Bars the Way who allows Death Triggers, but for a deck that Reanimates like MADNESS, do you think it's worth adding again? If so, Mindslaver Stays; & two cuts are to be made instead. Prepare for WAR...
