Welcome to another primer from your favorite Sans-Black brewer. In this primer I will break down what crazy mess came out of my head again. Enjoy and play on!

THE CORE CARDS!

Where does the Evolution come from? The Evolution a follow up to the previous deck I had been playing in BluePod. The original plan with BluePod was to out-value and win with a Kiki-Jiki line. The deck had the back up plan of infinite mana with a Thrasios pay-off. As I played the deck, that line had become more efficient and proactive without the negative draws. With this in mind and some help from some other great minds, The Evolution was born.

The A+B plan: for this list is to obtain one of the 2 card infinite mana combinations. Once intent mana is assembled we will activate Thrasios until our deck is in our hand. We then win with Finale of Devastation or chaining timetwister and looping a spell (such as swan song) to obtain an unbeatable board state.

Plan C: The plan C of this deck is the plan A for other decks in the meta. Underworld Breach is a busted card and an obscene amount of value. Breach adds not only the value but another line to chain spells and mill out other players.

Mana:

LED + Auriok Salvagers

Dockside Extortionist + Barrin Master Wizard + 6 artifact/enchantments under opponents' control

Bloom Tender/Faeburrow Elder + Freed from the Real

Arbor Elf + Freed from the Real + Wild Growth (must be on Tropical Island/Breeding Pool) Not in Current List

Underworld Breach + Wheel of Fortune + Smothering Tithe

Isochron Scepter + Dramatic Reversal + Mana Rocks/Dorks NOT IN CURRENT LIST

Draw/Mill:

Infinite Mana + Thrasios

Underworld Breach + Wheel of Fortune + Smothering Tithe/LED

Wheels and Pay-Offs:

  • Time Twister

  • Windfall

  • Wheel of Fortune

  • Smothering Tithe

  • Consecrated Sphinx

  • Narset, Parter of Veils

Stax:

  • Linvala Keeper of Silence

  • Rest in Peace NOT IN CURRENT LIST

  • Grafdigger's Cage

  • Containment Priest

  • Aven Mindscensor

  • Narset, Parter of Veils

  • Smothering Tithe

  • Rhystic Study

  • Mystic Remora

Finale of Devastation: Make all the creatures hasty and large enough to kill (off of infinite mana)

Timetwister Loops: Loop any spells that can win the game (Swan song and Bolt (not in list) are common ones)

Other possible winconditions that are not in list:

Copy Artifact + Swan Song: after using the Isochron Scepter combo. Play a spell and make infinite swans with dramatic reversal and swan song under Isochron Scepters

Jace/LabMan/Oracle: We draw our entire deck. play either of these and win the game on the spot.

Intuition was not in the original list and I almost had to smack myself for not having it in here. There are several piles can can be made based on the current game state, but these piles are focused on the win on mind.

Underworld Breach + Noxious Revival + missing combo piece: We have 3 different 2 card combos. this pile ensures you get the card you need.

Underworld Breach + Sevinne's Reclamation + Noxious Revival: You are ensured to get back Underworld Breach. Here you can then again cast Intuition and then search for 2 wheels and LED. Proceed to the Underworld Breach Combo.

More Piles to Come!

The nice part about Evolution is that it is an evolutionary deck. There are several adaptions and ways you can take the deck.the list above is MY OWN take on the best build of the deck.

What adaptions could be made?

I think the adaptions are swapping of packages. The Wheel package could be swapped out, or the Bomberman Combo could be swapped out. I feel those combos overlap the best and why it made the list, but you can easily swap into more mana rocks/dorks and play the Dramatic Scepter combo. You could also play the Power Artifact combo in that as well.

The list is set up to be both interactive and combo enabled. If you would like to turn it either way you can make the focus adapt to that as well. For example of I wanted to go more combo focused I'd make sure to have Grand Abolisher and Tutor slots more filed out. If I was focused on the interaction I would include 1-3 more counterspells and/or removal slots.

The maybe board is filled with different cards I would be willing to play in different metas, or as a way to make some budget options.

Counter Heavy:

  • Delay

  • Negate

  • Red Blast

  • Counterspell

  • Narset's Reversal

Hulk Heavy:

  • Stife

  • Trickbind

  • Rest in Peace

  • Stranglehold

Black Heavy:

  • Compost

  • Reap

Grindy/Stax Heavy:

  • Runic Armasuar

  • Dig Through Time

  • Heliod's Intervention

  • Meltdown

  • Steal Enchantment
