Current Considerations:

Chopping Block:

  • Abundance
  • Uyo, Silent Prophet
  • Patron of the Moon
  • Heroic Intervention This is redundant in the deck, but Im a big fan of fallback plans
  • Nissa, Vital Force This was originally in here for the animate land sub-theme, but since that has been removed, her uses are conditional. And sticking around for her ult is questionable.
  • Eldrazi Displacer This one has been mentioned before but it synergizes with several key cards in the deck. But the build should be able to function without it. Its a piece that requires another nonland permanent to operate.

Welcome to Landfall in EDH! This is a build Ive been brewing for awhile, and am pretty excited about it. The idea behind this deck is play multiple lands on your turn, bounce them to you hand or send them to the graveyard, then drop them back on the field for those sweet, sweet landfall triggers. Tokens, removal, tap-engines.I thought it would be interesting. Ive never seen a group hug deck do well at a table and have never piloted one before, so I decided to ignore that particular theme (outside of the Commander, of course). Despite the amount of tokens, I opted out of including Doubling Season for now. Once I playtest some more, it may find its way into the build, but I think the amount of consistent landfall-triggered generators will be enough to get by. There are several infinite combos, so those are the ideal wincons with a deck like this. Other options like green overrun or board lock are possible, so I think the deck can find a way to win if some key cards are somehow removed from play.

I dont expect this deck to dominate a table, or even win more than half the time. I wanted it to be as strong as possible, but also a breath of fresh air from the oh-so-common control, stompy, and artifact-centric decks that Ive seen running amuk lately. Please feel free to suggest tweaks!

Ruin Ghost + Retreat to Coralhelm = Infinite Landfall Triggers if you can tap for

Ruin Ghost + Retreat to Coralhelm + Mirari's Wake = Infinite Landfall Triggers AND infinite mana if you can tap for .

Ruin Ghost + Retreat to Coralhelm + Amulet of Vigor + Selesnya Sanctuary (Or any white-focused Karoo land) = Infinite Landfall Triggers AND infinite netted, single-colored mana if you can tap for .

The same effect can be achieved with Ruin Ghost + Command Tower (or another any color land) + Mirari's Wake

Amulet of Vigor + Realm Razer + Emeria Shepherd + Perilous Forays = Infinite Landfall Triggers if one of those lands is a plains. You can even recur all the nonland permanents in your graveyard if more than one is a plains.

Amulet of Vigor + Realm Razer + Eldrazi Displacer = Infinite Landfall Triggers if you have 3+ Lands. Also infinite mana if you have 4+.

Amulet of Vigor + Patron of the Moon +Storm Cauldron = Infinite Landfall Triggers and mana. Tap two lands (floating two mana and returning those two lands to hand) - pay 1 colorless, drop two back down. This nets you one mana of whatever color you tapped for. Rinse, lather repeat. You could even get snarky and not play the cauldron and just bounce with a Karoo land like Azorius Chancery.

Prismatic Omen + Retreat to Coralhelm + Wheel of Sun and Moon + Knight of the Reliquary = Infinite Landfall Triggers and mana (if you tap the lands prior to sacs)

Honestly, if you have a Forest or a Plains in play, you wont need the omen since you will just be sacking, reshuffling, and fetching the same land infinitely. It depends what you have on the field. Wheel of Sun and Moon was originally in the deck for graveyard hate on a specific opponent, or if that one annoying Mill deck is at the table. But it can just as easily benefit you! Some people may say that Knight isnt worth running because of the low Forest and Plains count, but it can easily go infinite in the deck if set up properly. Alternatively, if the Wheel isnt out (or just attached to someone else), you can get a happy amount of triggers if you cast Splendid Reclamation To bring all the sacked lands back.

Perilous Forays + Lotus Cobra + Rampaging Baloths / Emeria Angel / Omnath, Locus of Rage = Snag (almost) all the lands from you deck (albeit, only the one with basic land types). You can even net extra tokens if you have more than one generator.

Kamahl, Fist of Krosa + Supreme Verdict = Pay a few times, destroy target lands. I wouldnt normally do this, but if someone at the table is getting out of hand, its an option. Kamahl also doubles am Overrun wincon.

Kamahl, Fist of Krosa + Eldrazi Displacer = Pay , turn target land into 1/1 creature, flicker it, and get a landfall trigger at instant speed. With a token generator on the field, youve just created an extra blocker. (You could also block with the 1/1) You could even net a mana if you have Amulet of Vigor in play.

If you want a mana-cheap option for a blocker: Pay to turn a land into a 1/1, sac if to one of the land munchers (like Sylvan Safekeeper), to send it to the yard. Then recast it card:Crucible of World. Boom. Easy peasy landy squeasy.

Titania, Protector of Argoth + Crucible of Worlds + Sylvan Safekeeper = Sac a land to gain hexproof or life, get a token, cast a land from the graveyard, tap for whatever mana you need...rinse, lather, repeat for how many ever extra land drops you have.

Prismatic Omen + Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle = Every land that ETBs triggers and sends a bolt to someones face or creature.

This deck will be netting mana with correctly-timed land bounces. Soooo.where can it go?

The Traditional Way

The 3-Card Win:

Other Ways:

The Dirty Way

This is one that I wasnt aware of until it was pointed out to me.

  • Realm Razer + Perilous Forays + Sylvan Safekeeper + Splendid Reclamation + Amulet of Vigor = Exile all opponents lands, but keep yours.

  • I am not a fan of Mass Land Destruction. I REPEAT: I DO NOT LIKE MLD, SAM I AM. I WILL NOT PLAY IT WITH GREEN EGGS AND HAM. That said, the combo is there if the stars and situation somehow align.

  • You can use abuse the stack to permanently exile the lands that Realm Razer removes from play because it has the pre-exile wording. Cast Realm Razer, then in response to the first ability, sac him to Forarys. This way, he leaves play without the return all land trigger happening. Oh no! Youve exiled your own lands! You can prevent this by sacking them to Safekeeper or Zuran Orb prior to the exile. Then, use splendid Reclamation to bring them all back! If you are so lucky as to have Amulet of Vigor on the field, youve basically played a one-sided Armageddon.

  • If you do this, you will likely lose all you friends, but also likely win the game. The choice is yours. Depends on how many drinks the playgroup has had, or how desperate players are to go get food.

Politics

Nice

  • Kynaios and Tiro of Meletis themselves are friendly. That already puts you in a great position until the rest of the table see what kind of shenanigans you up to. Chances are though, someone else at the table will be the more immediate threat and since youre giving at least one extra card, you wont (likely) be the first target.

  • Tempt with Discovery Everyone knows what this card is about. But I have never encountered a single player who wouldnt seize the chance to snag an extra land.

  • Retreat to Coralhelm allows you to untap any creature including your opponents mana dorks. You could even use Kamahl, Fist of Krosas animate land ability, to untap one of their lands for them.

  • Uyo, Silent Prophet is a recent addition that Im currently experimenting with. Not only could you potentially counter a Counterspell by copying it, you can also protect other players this way. The player next to you may be struggling to play a creature in a mono-green deck because the mono-blue player across the table is being a jerk. Pay , bounce two of you lands, and counter that counterspell in exchange for that green players support. Not only have you made an ally, but you also gave yourself two more triggers for following turns. Nice.

Not So Nice

  • Realm Razer + Admonition Angel + A Land = Drop the Razer (exiling all lands), drop land for the turn, Admonition Angel triggers and you exile Razer. Youre now holding you own card hostage! If the angel leaves play, Razer comes back and nobody can have lands. Have fun with that one. You could even have Retreat to Kazandu in play at the same time, and stack the trigger from Realm Razer leaving play (ETB all the lands) and stack a ton of +1/+1 counters on the angel and swing. Lots of neat things. (The Retreat is currently on the chopping block though.)
