Land decks are interesting and fun. In recent years we have also got a few new commanders to play with for lands and they are all exciting! Each can be built into its own deck, but what happens if we combine the best of each? My previous lands deck, Angry Elementals!, featured Omnath, Locus of Rage as commander and he was accompanied by Mina and Denn, Wildborn and Titania, Protector of Argoth . That deck focused on elemental tribal and landfall. Now let's throw The Gitrog Monster and Ob Nixilis, the Fallen into the mix and have some fun with lands in Jund!

This is a deck of many commanders and it seeks to take advantage of whichever ones happen to be available at any given time.

I chose Xira Arien as the commander because at the time of original construction there were no Jund commanders that really cared about lands. Xira at least provides a turn 3 play, a flying blocker, and sometimes draws an extra card or two. I even once used her card draw politically to draw someone else a card as part of a deal. Then came the summer of 2018 and the release of Core2019 and C18. Xira's leadership of the deck came under review and I investigated a couple of potential candidates for her replacement: Vaevictis Asmadi, the Dire and Lord Windgrace . Lord Windgrace won the race to the helm of the deck. His first two abilities provide wonderful opportunities for card advantage and land drops. With those two abilities alone he works well as an engine which can be played whenever the deck has otherwise run out of steam. His ultimate is just a bonus piece of removal if the unlikely occasion ever arises to activate it.

Singleton art! In my physical deck I have gone through and made sure that every basic land has unique art. I have carefully selected favourites from among most of the art I have available.

Updates Add

This one is a big SEVEN card update! The last half of 2020 gave me a few new toys I want to try out. I also finally got my hands on a couple of older cards with novel effects that I want to try. Coming up with the cuts to make room for these new additions was not easy.

Reshape the Earth - Ten landfall triggers all at once is huge. I took out The Great Aurora for this one. They cost the same, and while Reshape the Earth doesn't wipe the board like The Great Aurora, the former fills a roll which the latter only has a chance of filling: putting land combos such as thespian stage + dark depths into play together. Reshape the Earth also has the added bonus of generating landfall triggers while The Great Aurora wipes away anything with landfall before I put a bunch of lands in play.

Moraug, Fury of Akoum - I just want to see what I can do with landfall extra combat phases. Rampaging Baloths comes out to make room for Moraug. He also gets to join the list of "commanders" for this multi-commander deck. I keep casting spells other than the Baloths so I haven't actually cast this one for a while now.

Bala Ged Recovery  Flip and Agadeem's Awakening  Flip - This is me trying out a couple of the new MDFC's. I think these two were rated well by the Command Zone so I want to give them a go. They have replaced a Forest and a Swamp respectively. Specifically,

these ones Show

Three Visits - I want to give this nice little ramp spell a try but finding ramp to replace is a really tall order. I've got it pared down nearly to only the best spells already. As much as it mains me to do it, I've taken out Mina and Denn, Wildborn for now. Similar to the Rampaging Baloths, I've noticed that I just haven't been choosing to cast Mina and Denn over other available spells.

Seismic Assault and Lightning Storm - These are a couple of novel effects that I want to try out. Seismic Assault gives redundancy to Borborygmos Enraged in my infinite damage combo with The Gitrog Monster and Dakmor Salvage, and it costs five fewer mana. Lightning Storm excites me as it has an activated ability which functions on the stack. I've taken out Bane of Progress and Blighted Fen to make room for them.
