MTG Combo: Borborygmos Enraged + Dakmor Salvage + The Gitrog Monster

This combo allows you to bolt a lot and put up to your entire library into your graveyard.

  1. Have The Gitrog Monster and Borborygmos Enraged in play. Have Dakmor Salvage in your hand.
  2. Activate Borborygmos by discarding a land from your hand which is not Dakmor Salvage. This triggers The Gitrog Monster's draw ability. Repeat this step until you have no other lands in your hand you wish to discard.
  3. Activate Borborygmos by discarding Dakmor Salvage. This triggers The Gitrog Monster's draw ability.
  4. Dredge Dakmor Salvage back into your hand instead of drawing a card. The dredge may trigger The Gitrog Monster drawing you an extra card too (note that you still only draw one extra card even if two lands get milled).
  5. Repeat steps 2-4 until you have dealt all of the damage necessary or until you have run out of lands to discard.

In a single player play test I recently discovered just how potent Borborygmos Enraged + Dakmor Salvage + The Gitrog Monster can be. Discard the salvage to deal 3 damage and then dredge it back to your hand. If at least one land got dredged then that draws an extra card. If the extra is a land then discard it too and repeat until you draw a nonland. Then start discarding the salvage again.

Along the way I drew into Retreat to Hagra + Splendid Reclamation . A quick count of the mana I had open showed exactly the amount I needed to cast both. A count of my lands in play told me that I had 30 lands not in play. I had already dealt enough damage to kill one opponent and put a second to 28 life. I then proceeded to dredge myself to 3 cards left in the library in order to deal enough damage to put 4 more opponents to 28 life. There was one land left in my library and the salvage in my hand and exactly 28 lands in the graveyard for Splendid Reclamation. That was fun.

I have finally assembled the deck (with a few proxies) and it will get its first real trial tomorrow night so I'm pretty excited.
