Sideboard

Maybeboard

One of the best things about large, casual EDH games is the politics. Who is an immediate threat everyone needs to deal with? Who's group hug deck is going to stifle everyone in the end, even if the extra cards are useful now?

This deck is made for those sorts of games, which go on long enough that trying to assemble WUBRG with mainly taplands isn't usually too prohibitive. Outside the god beatdown Sigil of the Empty Throne can provide another win condition by flooding the board with angels, and in a pinch you can even utilise the high toughness of the gods alongside Phenax, God of Deception to mill opponents out.

Thanks to all the Constellation and enchantress effects playing a single enchantment can draw a load of cards while not provoking anyone else, pretty important as the deck needs time to build up mana. Without any instants it can seem a bit slow and clunky but the deck is, above all, fun to play and makes for some amusing interactions.

Obviously I did consider trying to fit in every deity plus their respective artifact and dictate but in the end it was just too many spaces wasted on sub-optimal cards. But that's what sideboards are for in EHD, right? Sometimes I just shuffle some in and out at random to see which deity has my back that day.

Well, Karona, it was fun. We had some good times and some bad times. I finally got hold of a reasonably-priced Replenish, and there was that one game where the Voltron deck used you to kill me. Meanwhile the first previews of the Kaldheim gods suggested that none would be a good fit here, and I breathed a sigh of relief that I wouldn't need to find more room. Then Esika, God of the Tree  Flip was spoiled and I'm sad to say she's just a better commander for this deck. On the front side she helps out with producing mana and is far more reasonable to cast, while the back casually cheats stuff into play while not threatening to kill us. I did enjoy the thought of using Tyrite Sanctum to finally deify you though...
