I think the Junk/Necra/Abzan wedge is very deep. I've always been fascinated with toolbox style decks like pod, maverick, nic-fit, stone blade variants, and even Yisan, the Wanderer Bard.

I tried to build Karador, Ghost Chieftain previously and explored a theme focused on hatebear style attrition. I took the deck apart when I wasn't able to achieve a build I enjoyed piloting. I then moved into a typical, cookie-cutter build that featured all the big players like Avacyn, Angel of Hope and a bunch of other good-stuff. I was super unhappy with how mindless this list was even though it was super-powerful. I tore it apart.

Then I rebuilt the deck again. I love this version... 50 creaure Karador. It's inspired by the French EDH format abzan/necra/junk decks but plays a multi-player game. It takes some time to learn the deck so that you can finish games, rather than just stalling the board with a card like Peacekeeper and a recursion engine. Once you start playing the attrition game this deck is good at and grinding players out through incremental advantage and a toolbox, it feels more like a modern or legacy fair-creature midrange deck. I love it.

I try to adhere to the philosophy of playing as few mindless, broken staples as possible. The deck still needs win-cons though, so cards like Sun Titan, Rune-Scarred Demon, Bane of Progress, Ashen Rider, and Craterhoof Behemoth are in the deck.
