Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons is a fun commander with a -1/-1 counter theme. She can be taken in many direction but I decided to go with an aristocrat-esque deck. let me explain. Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons triggers on any -1/-1 counter we put on creatures and creates snakes. This means that if we can put -1/-1 counter on every creature or most creatures we will lose out current snakes but get many more back. This effect is easily achieved with Carnifex Demon , Black Sun's Zenith , and Harbinger of Night . These cards are even more effective with redundant hapatra effects like Flourishing Defenses and Nest of Scarabs both of which are better than hapatra herself. Playing multiple -1/-1 wave effects can really start to hurt your key creatures so use Power Conduit , Fain, the Broker , and Ivy Lane Denizen to remove some -1/-1 counters. side note: the reason Ivy Lane Denizen works here is because +1/+1 counters and -1/-1 counters are on the same creature they are removed in pairs until only one type remains. To ensure you reach these crucial cards use Species Specialist , Dark Prophecy or Generous Patron to draw a bunch of cards. More explosive draw is provided in Pact of the Serpent . the single best card draw engine in this deck ends up being Yawgmoth, Thran Physician who will let us trade life directly for cards (at least until our opponents creatures die from the -1/-1 counters). Buried Alive is a more drawn out way to get important creatures to hand and can honesly be used to grab any creatures as long as one is Genesis so that you can get the rest back. Sylvan Anthem and Eldrazi Monument can ensure our creatures stick around a little bit longer when we begin to do multiple waves of -1/-1 counters. Coat of Arms is another great artifact that makes our snakes huge to swing for the win. Fynn, the Fangbearer is also a combat win con but is more easily dealt with. If combat is not your style drain opponents after every wave of -1/-1 counters with Zulaport Cutthroat and Bastion of Remembrance . If those still arent your jam the final way to win is with this decks swath of infinite combos. Blowfly Infestation + Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons for infinite ETB and LTB. win with Zulaport Cutthroat and Bastion of Remembrance . you can sub out Blowfly Infestation for Yawgmoth, Thran Physician to do the same thing. Devoted Druid + Ivy Lane Denizen + Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons results in infinite green mana and infinite snakes. Devoted Druid also combos with Quillspike and Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons but only creates infinite snakes. All of the cards mentioned in the combo section are the main combo pieces but most can combo with multiple things in our deck. one example of this is that Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons can always be replaced by Flourishing Defenses and can usually be replaced by Nest of Scarabs (the difference being that nest creates black tokens who don't trigger key cards like Ivy Lane Denizen . With that out of the way have some fun spreading sickness and blight with Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons
