Oh yeah, Hapatra defiantly goes in this deck.
It is obviously a combo card, the problem is that it fills that role a bit too well. With Haptra it is 5MV and both pieces are tutorable by creature tutors as well as black tutors. With Nest of Scarabs it is at least 6 MV and nest can only be found with the black tutors in a Jund deck, but that is still stronger than WotC normally likes for cards designed for combo potential. If Amonket had never happened and Flourishing Defenses were the only token generator on placing -1/-1 counters I could see this card's design space being explored. Then you are at 8 MV and one piece is only hit by black tutors in the color identity of the creature.
I like the flavor and the design, which is a rare thing from me. I am just sad that it interacts too well to ever be officially printed. At least without nerfing the last 2 abilities by making them only affect opponent's creatures or some such.

I play alot of Hapatra since 2017, and I'm honestly shocked nobody has referenced Carnifex Demon on this yet. I understand it can kill hapatra as well, but Ivy Lane Denizen (Don't forget the snakes are green) and other cards are well worth getting a snake for all active players especially with Nest of Scarabs or Flourishing Defenses and in a game with more than two players. It's a crazy card that synergizes with practically anything on here.

looking at tayam i see three (3) things that tickle my fancy
1) "each other creature you control" means tokens are fair game
2) "remove three counters from among" means all counters are fair game, and they don't have to be on the same card
3) "CMC 3 or less" means value dorks!
this makes me think that cards like Herald of Anafenza for counters/tokens/more counters; Ammit Eternal for a steady supply of counters, pairs well w/cards like Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons / Flourishing Defenses ; or maybe even Nissa, Vastwood Seer Flip and other value-ogres are more viable than the heavy-hitters at the top of the curve?

Switched Razaketh, the Foulblooded for Heroic Intervention
Razaket is really expensive and I find I have cheaper ways to tutor for what I need. Got Heroic Intervention in core 2021 so i'm gonna rock it to protect my board at a low cmc!
Flourishing Defenses for Hooded Blightfang
Flourishing Defenses is also expensive, I'd rather have just one Nest of Scarabs effect.
Whispersilk Cloak for Swiftfoot Boots
Yes, you can get damage through with Whispersilk Cloak and get Hapatra's trigger but I find that I don't really need to attack with her that much, I just need her to stay on the board and i can do that on turn 3 with the boots!
Puppeteer Clique for Animate Dead
Puppetee doesn't hit our graveyard for recursion sadly and even though you can get 2 creatures with that persist trigger, Animate Dead is just cheaper and hits every graveyard.
Rampant Growth for Elvish Mystic
Would rather play a turn one Elvish Mystic and a creature than a 2 mana (i'm casting hapatra on turn 2 for sure) spell I can't get back with Meren, Eternal Witness, Animate Dead or Victime.
Smothering Abomination for Liliana's Standard Bearer
I feel like I can benefit from the Bearer more, either by sacrificing my creatures or to answer a boardwipe for example. Abomination is good but it costs more and doesn't have that flash value
