I have rebuilt and tinkered this deck many times in the last 8 years.

Creating an infinite combo with Marath is simple, needing only 2 to 3 other cards other than Marath. The basics of creating the combo is as follows:

(Counter Generators) Spend 1 mana and 1 counter to put 2 counters on Marath. Hardened Scales/Pir, Imaginative Rascal/Illusionist's Bracers/Unbound Flourishing/Doubling Season/Primal Vigor

(Token Doublers) Spend 1 mana and 1 counter to create 2 1/1 creatures. Illusionist's Bracers/Unbound Flourishing/Doubling Season/Primal Vigor/Parallel Lives/Anointed Procession

(Mana Generators) Tap or sacrifice the creatures to create 2 or more mana. Ashnod's Altar/Mana Echoes/Earthcraft/Crystalline Crawler (Earthcraft if you have a land that taps for 2 mana or 2 token doublers. Crystalline if you have 2 counter generators, you don't need a token doubler for it)

Repeat until you have infinite mana, then put infinite counters on Marath and deal infinite damage. The special thing about these combos are that you can activate them again at instant speed even if his ability is already on the stack, so long as he has at least 1 counter and 1 mana remaining.

Here are some example combos:

Marath, Will of the Wild+Ashnod's Altar/Mana Echoes+Illusionist's Bracers/Unbound Flourishing/Doubling Season/Primal Vigor = Infinite mana, creatures, counters, and damage.

Marath, Will of the Wild+Ashnod's Altar/Mana Echoes+Hardened Scales/Pir, Imaginative Rascal+Parallel Lives/Anointed Procession = Infinite mana, creatures, counters, and damage.

Marath, Will of the Wild+Crystalline Crawler+ 2 counter generators = Infinite mana, counters, and damage.

Marath, Will of the Wild+Ashnod's Altar/Mana Echoes/Earthcraft+Ivy Lane Denizen/Cathars' Crusade+Warstom Surge/Impact Tremors = Infinite damage. Ashnod's Altar would not create infinite creatures, but Mana Echoes or Earthcraft would.

Tooth and Claw+ a token doubler + Warstorm Surge/Impact Tremors = Infinite damage.

Tooth and Claw+ a token doubler +Mana Echoes/Earthcraft = Infinite mana.
