Koma, the other Komas, and their 100K coils

Maybeboard

This is my take on Koma, Cosmos Serpent! Clone Koma! Double the tokens! Stop opponents from interacting (tap / no untap / counter / remove). Kill them with serpents! Have fun. Make opponents miserable.

In the silliest of scenarios the deck can have 5+ Komas on the field with 5 token doublers giving you 25.600 tokens per upkeep. Thats 76.800 per round in a 3 player game or 102.400 per round in a 4 player game. Take that!

Ramp

No EDH deck should be created without a decent ramp suite, especially not one that is commandeered by a snake! A few special mentions:

Card advantage

No EDH deck without descent amount of draw!

Doublers

Koma makes Coils. Coils keep Koma alive and wins the game. Let's make more Coils and more Komas, yes?

The straight up token doublers, that support Koma, Cosmos Serpent and Awakening Zone. Remeber that doublers double other doublers for quardrupling, octuple, etc.

Since we want more doublers, we can luckily also double the source. In some ways better, in some ways worse. Let's spread the risk. The following will make more Komas

Protection

As you may have picked up on by now, we need to protect Koma! It is an important source of ... winning the game. Since he's pretty much indestructible, what worries us the most is targetted removal! Hence the goal is to make him untargettable. Hexproof is best. Shroud is the next best thing. For this purpose we run

Obviously supported by our Control suite:

Control

This stuff is important! Either we counter important threats or we remove them after they hit the board. All this stuff is here to protect Koma and remove stuff that stops us from winning.

In addition I'm running Winter Orb and Static Orb for maximum grief for my opponets since I can tap them by Sacrificing, hence making the effect asymmetric.

Side note: Polymorph can be used to kill a coil and fetch the next awesome creature from our deck!

Editors Note: Looking at the list, I need to reduce creature control in favor of combined enchantment/artifact removal. Suggestions?

Utility

I could not resist running a few tricks in the deck. This may be silly, but I really like the synergy

  • Cream of the Crop will allow me to power-filter my deck, basically picking the top 12 best card each round in a 3 player game.
  • Evolutionary Leap and Proteus Staff turns Coils into one of my listed creatures (they are all significantly better than a Coil)

Creatures

Did I mention we're running Koma, Cosmos Serpent as commander? Everything is here to support it, clone it or protect it! Almost all is already covered in previous sections EXCEPT:

Land Suite

Just trying not to run ETB tapped lands. Really not a lot to see here, but minor boons. A lot could be saved by running 18 forest, 18 islands, and Reliquary Tower. Would perform almost as good.

Known weaknesses

  • Very commander dependent (high risk, high reward)
  • Control suite needs adjustments. What would you do?
  • Suicide by draw can happen, and can be hard to prevent.

RFC (Request for comments)

  • What could be better? What awesome stuff did I miss?
  • Regarding the draw, I should probably add Thassa's Oracle as a safety net? Other suggestions? Other (consistent) draw tricks I could use?
  • Should I rename the deck to Koma Koma Koma Koma Chameleon?
