Naya has always been my favorite shard, and I am constantly testing out new aggressive builds within this color grouping. With the release of an Overrun in the Command Zone, thanks to Kamahl, Heart of Krosa, I was immediately drawn to him as a supporting Commander for an aggressive Naya deck.

Bruse Tarl has always been one of my favorite generals. With the ability to give out double strike and lifelink, he has the potential to be a wonderful Voltron monster, or be the sacrificial lamb that gives your biggest creature the reach that it needs to finish off an enemy.

If Bruse sticks on the board for a couple of turns, he can turn into a great bargaining chip. You can ransom opponents with a threat to kill, sell out his services for temporary alliances, or rally the troops against an archenemy. No game is ever the same when he is hanging around a board.

There are three goals this deck is trying to accomplish, and has enough protection built in top be able to pivot between lines without sacrificing too many resources or your board advantage.

Assault Combos

Show

Aggravated Assault combos with a number of cards in the list and can help you close a game out of nowhere. It is a good mana sink if you are running out of cards or are playing around a suspected board wipe as the entirety of the deck is focus on the combat step.

Sword of Feast and Famine is a great value engine for early board development. The protection is also great for strapping up a threatening Bruse Tarl. If the equipped creature has trample and double strike, you will be able to stack the untaps. If you are able to use Ventmaw or Neheb to float mana into your Main Phase, you can put together a monstrous turn.

Bear Umbra Gives you an "Extra life" in the form to Totem Armor, while doubling as an untapper and combo piece.

Neheb, the Eternal has the potential to gain you buckets of mana and fuel an assault combo, while his counterpart Neheb, Dreadhoard Champion can dig you HARDfor your combo pieces, as well as fuel an Assault Combo.

Savage Ventomaw is the OG combo piece, and is a decent ramp engine if you need to reach a little bit.

If you have the a mana dork and a 5CMC or better creature, Selvala, Heart of the Wilds can even work in a pinch.

Helm Combos

Show

Helm of the Host is an insane value engine and brings a few combos that play very neatly into our strategy.

Aurelia, the Warleader, Port Razer, and Moraug, Fury of Akoum all can go infinite with Helm if you have a clear shot, and Godo has the added benefit of tutoring the Helm into play.

Helm on a Bruse or a Thunderfoot Baloth can lead to a lot of damage if left unchecked.

Voltron

Show

This deck has enough equipment to make Brue Tarl into a killing machine. Bruse is the ultimate weapon, as he strap up for a commander damage kill, gain you a bucket of life, or make the ultimate sacrifice and be a decoy as you are scheming to set up a combo.

Blackblade Reforged can make a very large Bruse, very quickl wile Mask of Memories plays very nicely with double strike.

Hamer of Nazhan's ability to cheat mana cost for equipment is killer and Sigarda's Aid's to rattlesnake equip a Blackblade Reforged or Sword of Feast and Famine after no blocks being declared is a potent weapon.

Overrun

Show

If you cannot land an assault line or a Voltron line, sometimes you can just swing your way out of sticky situations. Ilharg and Etali,while not being combo pieces, can offer you a threat and tons of value.

Triumph of the Hoards can be a last resort kill switch, or the assassin's dagger that removes a single player.

These cards are here because there are not quite on brand for what this deck is looking for. They are decent cards by them selves, but I am actively looking for cuts while still running them as is.
