Creature — Elephant
Whenever Thorn Mammoth or another creature enters the battlefield under your control, Thorn Mammoth fights up to one target creature you don't control.

I assume this would be the same for any other pre-existing ETB effects (such as Thorn Mammoth).

Hey Lissmain, thanks for your upvote and question. I haven't been able to play this deck yet, but I'll try to answer your questions.
- I don't think I have any mill decks in my meta, so I haven't been in that situation with any of my decks I think... If that was something I'd face regularly, then I'd try to include more recursion (perhaps Sun Titan and Serra Paragon) or maybe even a way to get my graveyard back into my library.
- My plan with this deck for grindy games is to get Field of the Dead out and copy it with Vesuva and/or Thespian's Stage. That will generate so much value in a grindy game and is very resistant to board wipes. Scute Swarm can be even more effective. Another way is to get a recurring interaction piece in play to control the board, so Aura Fracture, Aura Shards or Thorn Mammoth.
Hope this answers your questions.

Remember a while ago where I made Zaren, Silverback Ironfist? The Ape Berserker who revolved around the Fight mechanic? So I built a deck and he was way to powerful. Every single creature spell becoems removal. Even when I nerf him, dropping it from two +1/+1 counters when the creature survives down to just a single +1/+1 until end of turn, everything just decimates the boardstate. Dropping a Hornet Queen just wrecked a game I was playing in. Because he is a custom commander, I have the deck here on Tappedout and I have the browser tab open. My current boardstate (after winning the game) looks like this:
- Zaren, Omnath, Locus of Rage, 4x 5/5 Elemental tokens, Akroma, Angel of Fury, Toralf, God of Fury Flip, Myojin of Life's Web whom I removed the counter from in order to bring into play Myojin of Towering Might, Foe-Razer Regent, Gruul Ragebeast, Vorinclex, Monstrous Raider, Kolvori, God of Kinship Flip, Kodama of the East Tree who brought out Thorn Mammoth and Arcane Signet because that's all I had that were less MV. I also had a very early Elemental Bond, so I kept drawing a ton of cards. My hand currently sits at Forest, Pit Fight, Mountain, Ghalta, Primal Hunger, Apex Altisaur, The Tarrasque, Kogla, the Titan Ape and Dragonlord Atarka with Hunt the Hunter, Furious Rise, Frontier Siege, Mountain, Hornet Queen and Boxing Ring in my graveyard.
- It's my Turn 9.
Game ended with me at 24 life.
Poor Ur-Dragon died twice to my fights; Once to Akroma, Angel of Fury after she triggered a second time since The Ur-Dragon is both white and blue, she couldn't deal damage back. So when Akroma dealt 6, she got +1/+1 until end of turn and I had her fight again with Hunt the Hunter, since The Ur-Dragon is green. Later, Hornet Queen made short work of it, again.
I think I vastly underestimated the power of the Fight mechanic, and now I understand why we do not have a Fight Commander. T-T
At the beginning of combat on your turn, you and target opponent may each reveal cards from the top of your library until you both reveal a creature card. If you do, they enter the battlefield tapped and fight each other. Put the rest of the revealed cards on the bottom of their libraries in a random order. If one creature survives, it remains on the battlefield. If both creatures survive, their owners shuffle them back into their library.

Thanks for reaching out and for running this great site! The meter thing is a bit weird. I was honestly playing around with a single card to see how it affects the competitive meter. It was at 65% competitive, which is probably about right (I don't play cEDH, but its a super fast deck at the top end of casual, which they usually say is at 70%). I took out Silklash Spider, which is definitely not a competitive card and replaced it with Thorn Mammoth, which would be better removal for the deck and more relevant. Then I switched that with Natural Order, which should be a more competitive card. I put Silklash Spider back in, but at some point it dropped to 29% competitive, which is a huge swing for one card, and, of course, it is back to the place it was when it consistently listed the deck as being at 65%. The deck is here- Elfpocalypse Now! (Under Construction). I disabled the meter for now, which is what I usually do when I don't think its accurate, but I can turn it on if you need me to. Thanks so much! I do feel its been pretty good for more of my decks lately, and while it would be impossible to hit every deck perfectly (since its hard to rate synergy and theme), this does seemed a weird shift. Thanks again!

Would something like Moldervine Reclamation or Deathreap Ritual be worth a mention? Or Font of Agonies? I guess that last one depends on how often you pay life, but it works really well in my Vilis, Broker of Blood deck so I thought I'd mention it.

Fun deck description, looks like a blast to pilot!
Kessig Wolf Run recently got a reprint, so I think it'd fall into your budget! It's another way to get your damage in, not only in pumping your own creatures but also leaving up mana to pump up someone else's. Another feather in your cap for when you want to start ending the game.
You already have Genesis, so I would also maybe look at fitting a Spore Frog in there somewhere! I've been saved many a time by this card, and once you get Genesis online, you can have a soft lock on combat damage, with you being able to recur the frog. Can be frustrating for combat based decks to deal with!
Eternal Witness is another card that I wish was JUST a bit cheaper, it'd fit into your deck. Pairs really well with Kogla, the Titan Ape (Which you should for sure give a try to!). At a few bucks less expensive, the relatively new Timeless Witness could be a budget option, with it only costing 1 more mana but gaining eternalize. Both would allow you to continue to fetch bombs from the graveyard once the game gets long.
Battle Mammoth helps in dealing with decks that have a lot of targeted removal, and is a decent beater for cheap if foretold. The recently rotating out Thorn Mammoth is another card that I've seen put in work once it resolves! Just a few ideas I had after reading the deck!
(Just checked, Eternal witness also got a reprint, so it'd slide in in just under 3 dollars!)

Hey, nice version so far with a high budget. Cutting Garruk's Uprising was a mistake, the card is really good in creature decks.
Apex Altisaur and Thorn Mammoth are upgrades for Ravager Wurm and Foe-Razer Regent for repeatable fight. You don't really need Regent since you have Vigor which has a much better ability to put counters on creatures you control. Vrondiss, Rage of Ancients from the new Draconic Rage Commander precon is a target for fight and good with Vigor. He can also be a repeatable source of big tokens to abuse Greater Good, Terror of the Peaks and Garruk's Uprising.
Quartzwood Crasher is a five drop to pair with Garruk's Uprising, another repeatable source of big tokens and it's combat damage trigger goes well when you can double the power of a creature with trample. Garruk, Primal Hunter and Garruk, Unleashed can be repeatable sources of tokens for attacking and fighting. With fight it's easier to protect them to get to their ultimates.
Arcane Signet is a ramp upgrade for Rampant Growth. Harrow is an upgrade for Kodama's Reach. Karplusan Forest, Grove of the Burnwillows, Cragcrown Pathway Flip are three more Gruul dual lands that always ETB untapped to consider adding. Cinder Glade is an upgrade for Temple of Abandon.
Some cards to consider cutting:
- Temple of the False God
- Temple of Abandon
- Rampant Growth
- Kodama's Reach
- Golden Guardian Flip
- Ravager Wurm
- Zilortha, Strength Incarnate
- Nylea, Keen-Eyed
- Foe-Razer Regent
Good luck with your deck.

You could use Thorn Mammoth if you've been liking Apex Altisaur. Also you mentioned in your primer that Sweet Gum Recluse has a worse case scenario of cascading into Apex Devastator, but that isn't how cascade works. You will always hit something with lesser mana value.
