Optimator on Muldrotha deck

Personally I don't like running the Tainted cycle of lands in three+ color decks unless the deck is VERY Swamp-heavy or there are lots of dual lands--which typically aren't budget. Your luck may vary but I've been burned by Tainted lands a lot. They're a no-brainer in two-color decks.

Daring Apprentice is a budget replacement for Glen Elendra Archmage. I run it in my Muldrotha deck.

Eternal Witness, while not truly budget, is utterly fantastic in Muldrotha decks (and any graveyard-recursion deck). Very much worth a splurge one day if you're looking to upgrade this deck. A true all-star

Anyway, here's my Muldrotha deck if you want to see it:

Morophon as a Human tribal leader seems oddly flavorful, nice idea! You might like these: Distant Melody , Heirloom Blade , Daring Apprentice , Shared Animosity

With regard to cuts: If you want to run Zombie Master and Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth , you don't need Zombie Trailblazer anymore. Library of Leng is an interesting card, but I'm not sure it's good enough to merit an include; I'm assuming that it's meant to interact with Varina, Lich Queen 's looting ability. I just think there're better things you can do with the slot -- same goes for Desecrated Tomb . Their impact is marginal most of the time, and inserting more card draw or artifact ramp seems likely to be better.

I'm guessing Call to the Netherworld is meant to buy back cards while interacting with Varina's ability. I think running a to battlefield reanimation spell, like Reanimate or Animate Dead , would be simply better. Gravedigger and Eternal Taskmaster are similar cards I'd cut.

Ertai, the Corrupted is a card I think many people overrate. Five-mana is a very high cost, and cards like Daring Apprentice and Ertai, the Corrupted are worse than regular Counterspell s because your opponents know to play around the counter effect.

If you're running Phyrexian Altar , I'm not sure Ashnod's Altar is necessary. Including tutors like Demonic Tutor makes redundancy less important; similarly, including tutors would allow you to run just one Merciless Eviction or Austere Command effect rather than both.

Other cards to consider I didn't think of earlier: Undead Augur , Midnight Reaper , Fallen Shinobi , Rot Hulk , Forgotten Creation , God-Eternal Oketra , and Eternal Skylord .

In my version of this deck I would run some copies of Daring Apprentice, Nighthowler instead of Mortivore. Ideas Unbound would give you another draw/discard-option. And finally I would put some mass destruction in there (e.g. Languish) to get rid of opponents creatures and yours to trigger the win condition faster.

My favorite game so far was against a bru pirate deck and another deck that reporte relied on mana rocks. I got burnished heart out a couple times before mana rock guy exiled it by a bajuka bog.

Too soon! Out came Pernicious Deed. Then Daring Apprentice + Swiftfoot Boots. Bring it.

Pirate guy lost his field of pirates and was basically crippled. I ended with cycling Decree of Silence, then carin casting it from my graveyard.

Then Night Soil removed almost all creatures (and kept me alive with a wall of small creatures, leaving my poor The Scarab God to only be able to steal a couple graveyard creatures.

Fun times. Not playing Mudrotha again against the mana rock guy because he'll play a muldrotha killer deck.

Well this just seems fun. You'll need room for 6 spell that stop board wipes. Counterspell, Glen Elendra Archmage, Arcane Denial, Daring Apprentice, Deprive, and Disdainful Stroke. All though your creatures come back after a Wrath of God, they don't come back from Hallowed Burial, Terminus, Cyclonic Rift and all the now more popular ways to board wipes. "Destroy all" isnt strong. But "return all" and "remove all" and "exile all" and "shuffle all" are all stronger in edh.
