Thanks a bunch, RiotRunner789! Very useful advice! I'm keeping Graceful Adept so that if it ever happens, I can make it use Prosthetic Injector. But Library of Leng doesn't affect the hand size does it? Like, what happens if I have more than 7 cards and skip my discard phase? Admiral's Order is great! Same with Dissipate and Unwind! However, I do enjoy cards that tie up mana the most. It's a win-win because if they choose not to pay the cost, they end up losing their card. And, if they can't that's also good. Not just that, but also if they do pay the cost, it makes it to where they can't spend much mana on anything else.

I'd swap Graceful Adept for Library of Leng. Cheaper, harder to remove, and added bonus against discard.

Cancel for any other counterspell. There are plenty of 1UU with upside such as personal favorite of mine, Admiral's Order. Rewind, Dissipate, Unwind and Negate are also solid budget options. Personally not a fan of Mana Leak-esk counters since if an opponent has a ton of Mana, they become useless. Also, Defense Grid is an odd choice for a blue deck since it hurts your own counters on your opponents turn.

I'd consider trying to find room for a card or cards like Coastal Piracy, Bident of Thassa, and The Indomitable.

Single protection to consider, Mithril Coat is amazing, Commander's Plate always pulls a ton of weight in mon color (may hurt commander's unblockable agaimst another monoblue but otherwise really helps), Dive Down not amazing, just a pet card when it was in standard.

It looks good. I would cut a few creatures, start by looking at the 6 CMC+ ones first. You probably want to get down to 15-18 creatures.

Add in 2-3 more mana rocks and cut a land. Should be able to run with 34-35 lands with a low mana curve and more rocks.

Get rid of Cancel. There are a million 3 cmc counterspells that are cancel+. I like Admiral's Order but any other counter will work. Spell Pierce can also be a bit of a dead card once you get to the mid-game or late game.

You have enough islands that High Tide would be good. Ophidian Eye is another curiosity combo win. Could consider Laboratory Maniac or labman effect to have another wincon. Then anything that cantrips or creates positive card advantage like Preordain or Frantic Search helps with any left over slots.

Hey, nice version, but where's Glint-Horn Buccaneer? I saw your deck in the featured decks ad.

You can improve on balancing card quality since you have some amazing cards here, but also quite a few lackluster ones that are much lower on power level compared to the others. An example is Scalding Tarn which is excellent, but not playing a dual land that Tarn can search for... Steam Vents could replace Izzet Guildgate and Volatile Fjord could replace Highland Lake. Other Izzet dual lands to add in place of some basic lands to improve color fixing from lands: Training Center, Cascade Bluffs, Sulfur Falls, Stormcarved Coast and Frostboil Snarl.

I don't think I've even seen Armillary Sphere in the same deck before that also has Mana Drain, Ragavan, Nimble Pilferer, Jeweled Lotus, Dockside Extortionist, Goldspan Dragon, Jeska's Will and Urza's Saga. Sphere is really out of place power wise. Consider cutting Sphere for Arcane Signet? The Diamonds are also subpar, considering cutting both of them for Talisman of Creativity and Izzet Signet? These are not expensive changes, but can make a big improvements on ramp.

Another example of card quality balance are the counterspells. Mana Drain, Counterspell, Pact of Negation, Negate are great thus you don't also need to play Hornswoggle, Admiral's Order and even Lookout's Dispersal because these are not as good.


Some more one drop/two drop flying Pirates and unblockable Pirates can more easily trigger Malcolm and Breeches. Spectral Sailor, Warkite Marauder, Departed Deckhand could replace some higher mana cost Pirates such as Captain Ripley Vance, Deadeye Quartermaster, Prosperous Pirates and Sailor of Means. You have Ragavan, Nimble Pilferer, Dockside Extortionist, Goldspan Dragon and Corsair Captain which are all excellent thus you don't really need to play other Pirates that create treasures when they ETB because those cards are not as good.

Wonder and Anger are powerful with Pirates, but they need help to get them into your graveyard because you don't want to ever cast them. Expanding with more loot can help to draw/discard them that also adds more draw to your deck. Faithless Looting, Windfall, Mask of Memory and Frantic Search could replace Mutiny, Hornswoggle, Dowsing Dagger  Flip and Admiral's Order. These changes are also not expensive and improve card quality.

Alright I did some digging, here are some other options: Dimir Charm for flexibility also dimir = sneaky rogue so passes flavor check; Admiral's Order because rogue attac; Ceremonious Rejection for sideboard; Disallow might be a bit high curve for this deck but its a good counterspell; Disdainful Stroke for sideboard again; maybe Overwhelming Denial following a Thieves' Guild Enforcer?

Summary: I think the best ones to replace Quench with are Admiral's Order and Spell Pierce
