Baron Sengir is a legendary creature originally printed in Homelands, to be honest, the card is terrible, but in a way, that's why I enjoy running him as my commander and there's a variety of reasons for that:

1: Because my commander is Baron Sengir, I tend to get ignored in multiplayer games, which gives me time to use the deck itself to win, while they disregard me as a "noob" or an "amateur" because of who I run as my general, which can give me an advantage.

2: Playing a commander from Homelands is just outright funny and can make fir a relaxed an entertaining conversation with other players.

3: Baron Sengir is such a flavorful character in MTG lore and I wanted to use him mostly for that reason, even though I have built commanders like Narset which are extremely powerful, and Noyan Dar which are extremely annoying, I dislike when people look at EDH as only a way to break the game, to me, this format is the only format that allows proper self expression and I feel power, should honestly come second and fun, should come first.

This may not be the most powerful deck in the format, but it's easily one of my favorites and I love it :)

Card Selection

Lands

Swamp: Well we are in mono black so, it seems good to have a few basic lands XD.

Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth: Turning all lands into swamps seems to pair nicely with Crypt Ghast.

Cabal Coffers: This land pairs very nicely with Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth but even without it, can ramp us by a notable amount.

Crypt of Agadeem: Another great source of ramp for black, creatures die, it happens, might as well take advantage of it.

Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx: Our devotion gets pretty up there in the mid to late game, Nykthos seems best to abuse this.

Mirrorpool: Nothing more fun that copying a Drain Life or an Exsanguinate, this card can help end games when you just don't have the mana to finish everyone off at once.

Myriad Landscape: A gift from the gods, in this case, from Erebos? Grabbing 2 Swamps to ramp us seems good.

Temple of the False God/Ancient Tomb: Lands that produce 2? Seems good.

Deserted Temple: Untapping Nykthos, Coffers or Crypt seems like a good choice.

Thespian's Stage/Vesuva: Usually use these to copy my Cabal Coffers but I will occasionally combo the Stage with my Dark Depths.

Dark Depths: When combined with either Thespian's Stage or Vampire Hexmage, this land gives us a free 20/20 flying indestructible token, so much yes!

Wasteland/Strip Mine/Dust Bowl: There are alot of problem lands in the format, these are ways to get rid of them.

Bojuka Bog: In a format where graveyard decks are so prevalent, having a way to deal with them seems best.

Cavern of Souls: Blue decks are annoying, making your vampires uncounterable seems good.

Reliquary Tower: Even though we don't have alot of huge draw spells, it is commander, anything could happen, best be prepared. And there are ways for us to overload our hand so, this helps.

Creatures

Blood Artist/Kalastria Highborn: Creatures die, ALOT. Let's make our opponents pay for it :).

Sangromancer: Similar to the cards above, however instead of our opponents paying for it, we just gain from it.

Defiant Bloodlord: Having a Sanguine Bond on a stick, helps serve as a backup when comboing.

Captivating Vampire: Our basic lord but with a twist, by tapping 5 untapped vamps, we can steal a creature AND turn it into a vamp, not bad.

Bloodline Keeper  : Look! An actual GOOD vampire! This guy is amazing, tapping to produce 2/2 flyers is awesome, but when he transforms, he will also become a great lord as Lord of Lineage.

Anowon, the Ruin Sage: This guy is actually pretty sweet, it will almost never affect us in a negative way but certainly will screw with our opponents, he's usually the first creature I tutor for and protect.

Bloodlord of Vaasgoth: Vampires don't get many actual good cards, the Bloodlord is one of them that is, Bloodthirst is easy to trigger in this deck.

Crypt Ghast: The only non-vampire in this deck, and I only run it because it's cheaper than and will draw less hate than Nirkana Revenant.

Dark Impostor: Big fan of this guy personally, exile in black is rare, so while it is expensive, it's easily worth it, plus who knows, you might get some good abilities on it.

Drana, Kalastria Bloodchief: Drana is worthy of being a commander herself, usually she serves as spot removal for me, but she also makes a great flying beater.

Guul Draz Assassin: Essentially a mini-Drana, while obviously not as good, it's still a sweet card and an early play.

Drana, Liberator of Malakir: I love this card, not only is she a sweet Tiny Leader, but her ability to make all attacking creature bigger, essentially makes her a mini Necropolis Regent.

Necropolis Regent: Another genuinly good card, this thing is insane, the end.

Gatekeeper of Malakir: Easy to kick and making them sac gets around hexproof or indestructible.

Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet: Once again, graveyard decks are powerful in the format, Kalitas helps midigate them.

Malakir Bloodwitch: I still like this card, it can net us a decent amount of life and leave us with a decent attacker, in my meta, protection from white, is relevant.

Sengir Nosferatu: A flavorful include and a fun combat trick, I like it.

Sengir Vampire: A purely flavorful include, the card isn't awful either ;).

Vampire Hexmage: Kills a hydra, planeswalker or can combo with Dark Depths.

Vampire Nocturnus: Another GOOD vampire, giving a pump and evasion is nice.

Vampire Nighthawk: Na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na... BATMAN!

Artifacts

Sensei's Divining Top: This is commander and if there was ever a staple in the format, this would be it. Perfect for helping us fix what would otherwise potentially be a dead draw.

Blade of the Bloodchief: Creatures are dying, I see no reason not to benefit ;).

Darksteel Plate: Protection is a vital part of commander.

Lightning Greaves: Again, protection is a vital part of commander, plus the haste is nice.

Urza's Incubator: Making our expensive vampires cost less is very important.

Jet Medallion: Yet again, our spells are expensive, making them cheaper helps.

Venser's Journal: Combos with Necropotence and helps get back some life we WILL lose.

Expedition Map: Usually finds Cabal Coffers or Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth.

Sol Ring/Mana Crypt: Do mana rocks really need explaining?

Candelabra of Tawnos: This thing is INSANE with all of our lands that produce multiple mana, such a powerhouse in this deck.

Sword of Feast and Famine: Meren of Clan Nel Toth is currently the power house deck in my meta, having protection is handy, and untapping my lands is a nice touch.

Sorceries

All Is Dust/Decree of Pain/Overwhelming Forces/Toxic Deluge: Board wipes are a must in commander, gotta keep that board under control.

Demonic Tutor/Grim Tutor/Cruel Tutor/Diabolic Tutor/Diabolic Intent/Diabolic Revelation/Imperial Seal/Beseech the Queen: Tutors are a vital part of Commander, finding the card we need, when we need it, really helps.

Night's Whisper: Every deck needs card draw, this seemed like the best option.

Exsanguinate: One of our most commonly used win conditions, just generate alot of mana late game and win.

Drain Life/Consume Spirit: Weaker versions of Exsanguinate but, still decent options to use as win conditions.

Blood Tribute: When kicked, this card is amazing, combos with Sanguine Bond.

Instants

Vampiric Tutor: Yet again, tutors are vital for the format, being an instant, this one is among the best available, second only to Demonic Tutor.

Go for the Throat/Hero's Downfall: Removal is another vital part of the format, I like having two sources of spot removal for individual issues.

Dark Ritual: A classic in black and a decent bit of ramp, helps us cast bigger spells quicker.

Cabal Ritual: Small ramp early game, huge ramp late game. Like Dark Rital, it helps cast big spells earlier.

Enchantments

Bloodchief Ascension: This ability is easy to trigger and tends to happen almost every turn in a four player game, big fan.

Dictate of Erebos/Grave Pact: Essentially the same card, punishes our opponents for our creatures dying.

Exquisite Blood/Sanguine Bond: Our infinite combo of the deck and mirror pieces to eachother, both are still amazing individually, but together, will end the game immediately.

Necropotence/Phyrexian Arena: Our card draw engine of the deck, it may hurt, but it hurts so good!

Planeswalkers

Sorin Markov: The big bad vampire himself, I use almost exclusively his -2 to end the game, but his +2 ain't bad either, I've never used his -7.

Combos

Exquisite Blood + Sanguine Bond My auto-win for when games just take too long.

Defiant Bloodlord + Exquisite Blood The same combo as above.

Dark Depths + Thespian's Stage + Vampire Hexmage Using either Stage or Hexmage with the Depths allows me to cheat Marit lage which seems pretty good ha ha.

Cabal Coffers + Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth This combo makes me alot of mana, gotta love that!

Cabal Coffers + Deserted Temple This combo just allows me to produce more mana, even better with Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth

Deserted Temple + Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx This is just another version of the combo posted above.

Crypt of Agadeem + Deserted Temple The third and final (and weakest) version of the combos posted above, it usually won't provide as much mana as the others, but it's still worth noting.

Necropotence + Venser's Journal This combo just allows me to grab as many card from Necropotence as I want without dying from it.

Blood Tribute + Sanguine Bond : If the kicker is paid, this can remove one player from the game.

Cabal Coffers + Candelabra of Tawnos + Crypt of Agadeem + Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx : Combining Cadelabra with any or all of these lands, allows us to produce MASSIVE amounts of mana.

Cards I Will NOT be adding

Thief of Blood I don't care that it helps cheat Dark Depths, it's bad for my meta and I want to keep my counters on my permanents, it's bad for me.

Damnation I have better board wipes, I don't need this one.

Nirkana Revenant This card paints a bigger target on my head than Crypt Ghast does and I never want to swing with my mana doubler, so no thank you.

Crucible of Worlds I know, I know, I play Dust Bowl, Strip Mine and Wasteland but, I only do so to deal with problem lands in my meta like Gaea's Cradle or Serra's Sanctum, I don't want to be that guy to destroy all of someone's lands, well, not with this deck at least ;)

Malicious Affliction This card is amazing for almost any black deck, except in my meta, even Attrition had issues when I ran it because, in my group there is just SO much black, so a double Doom Blade, just doesn't "cut it" ;).

Mephidross Vampire This card seems good but, when I played it, it did NOTHING!

Feast of Blood I'm not a fan of situational removal and I'm not a fan of sorcery speed spot removal, this is both.
