This deck started as a Rafiq voltron deck. It was pretty good but ultimately lost more then it won, which is fine, im happy as long as a deck is consistently a threat or holding to the game plan, but it either won spectacularly(voltron'd up a birds of paradise with eldrazi conscription and multiple swords by turn 6. I was not piloting the deck. it hurt.) or lost twice as horribly, usually by running out of gas or not having the right cards. This persisted for a year until I decided to try something new. Enter Derevi.

Derevi, Empyrial Tactician is a hell of a general, but I am not a fan of the stax builds. Yes they are the most efficient and effective Derevi, Empyrial Tactician deck but they suck to play against and are oppressive as all hell. Bant also happens to be a favorite color combination of mine, just behind Sultai. I also love ETB's, and low mana curves in decks, so I brewed this up. Its like love child of Derevi and Rhox.

the lines of play are simple. early game I want to ramp, ideally with a Birds of Paradise or a Noble Hierarch turn 1 into Derevi turn 2. from here I want to build up my army of small, fast efficient creatures, especially the fliers and swing for constant untaps, value and a massive tempo swing in my favor. Winning through combat damage is not out of the question, especially with the way I can dump my hand onto the table and continue to keep the gas going thanks to Arcanis the Omnipotent , Mentor of the Meek and Edric, Spymaster of Trest , and with Champion of Lambholt my damage is all but guaranteed. But the main win con is combo. Infinite mana thanks to Peregrine Drake and Deadeye Navigator . Achieving this is easy thanks Birthing Pod , Tooth and Nail and Eldritch Evolution . Eldritch Evolution is used to find the last piece usually or a creature appropriate for the situation at hand, while tooth and nail and pod just outright win usually. with a 3 drop and pod I can chain pod without Derevi. First I sacrifice the three drop and find the Felidar Guardian , bouncing the Pod. Next I Sacrifice the guardian to find either Peregrine Drake to win, or Body Double to copy the Felidar Guardian , or Karmic Guide if one piece is in the yard or to revive the guardian re bouncing Pod again. Then I sacrifce the 5 drop to find Deadeye Navigator . I just need to keep 2 mana open to start the infinite mana fun. From here I want to look for Venser, Shaper Savant or Acidic Slime , and this can be done with Mulldrifter , Cloudblazer , Elvish Visionary , Blue Sun's Zenith or Coiling Oracle by bouncing repeatedly until I find Venser, Shaper Savant or Acidic Slime . Blue Sun's Zenith can also be used to deck the opponent, but this is less useful in multiplayer, and has lost me the game before. Its much more efficient to use it to find Venser, Slime or a draw creature by casting it for X=30 or so. Alot of the creatures in the deck are fantastic, and are even better with Brago, King Eternal . He bounces my rocks for more mana, my creatures so I have blockers, Derevi, Empyrial Tactician for an extra untap effect, and ofcourse, throws the ETB creatures on the train to value town. Eldrazi Displacer works as well, but is less good I find due to the mana investment. Not to say Displacer is bad by any means, just inferior to Brago, King Eternal , especially since the king is tutorable by Captain Sisay . Speaking of Captain Sisay , she finds me my Arcanis the Omnipotent , Growing Rites of Itlimoc  , Edric, Spymaster of Trest , Saffi Eriksdotter , Gaddock Teeg and Venser, Shaper Savant . While the list is small, just finding Brago is huge in this deck, and can often spell the win due to the sheer advantage he generates. My favorite card in the deck, however is Thawing Glaciers . The sheer ramp this thing allows with Derevi, Empyrial Tactician and a few triggers is MASSIVE. Target the Glaciers and use them to find a land. With the next few triggers do the same. Its amazing because it only returns to your hand at the end of turn.

The bounce effects all work wonderfully with Gilded Drake to be a real jerk, like stealing somemones Commander. its alla round a solid card and can be recuured with Sun Titan , a favorite card of mine. Sun Titan provides me with important graveyard recursion on each attack and can hit most of my creatures, which can then trigger Mentor of the Meek or can be used on my lands for extra ramp.
