Land (114)

Land to use in edh when you have no colors. Note, i've kept this list to lands that tap for 1 colorless and ETB untapped.

Exotic Orchard - Won't do you any good against other colorless decks.

Its been a while since I've updated this, here are the new things since BFZ. With Wastes we can actually use Evolving Wilds an Terramorphic Expanse!

Ally Encampment

Command Beacon

Corrupted Crossroads

Crumbling Vestige

Drownyard Temple

Evolving Wilds

Geier Reach Sanitarium

Holdout Settlement

Nephalia Academy

Ruins of Oran-Rief

Sea Gate Wreckage

Terramorphic Expanse

Kozilek, the Great Distortion

Emrakul, the Promised End

A couple notes,

  • Westvale Abbey  Flip's color identity is Black and cannot be used in a colorless EDH deck

  • Crumbling Vestige or Holdout Settlement can now be used to generate colored mana with the recent rules change, allowing you to pay for colored costs if you somehow need to do that.

I left it out on purpose, an ETB tapped land that offers no benefit in a colorless deck feels bad. but you could run it if you want, or really really really really need a shuffle effect.

Reflecting Pool does not generate mana in a colorless EDH deck, since your other lands are unable to generate colors... Or at least I think so.

In any case it's only going to be active 50% of the time, only when you have things like Mirrodin's Core on the field, which can technically generate color as far as Reflecting Pool is concerned

My bad, I thought Pool said 'Color' not 'type'. Everything I said in the above comment is wrong

I guess this list hasn't been updated as of recent. Here's a list of new ones to add:

Fantastic, thanks for doing that, makes my job easier :)

You have cards here like Lotus Vale and Ancient Ziggurat, I didn't think you could use a land to make coloured mana if you were using a colourless commander

November 20, 2015 5:19 a.m.

brokendwarf says... #13

ChaosZ41: they don't specify a color they make, so you can use them in colorless.

November 20, 2015 11:43 a.m.

They are usable given the EDH rules: "If mana of a color not in your commander's identity would be added to your mana pool, ad that much colorless mana instead"

And since those lands have no color identity (no mana symbols on the rules text), they are legal in colorless decks.

Now that Wastes are a thing, Terramorphic Expanse and Evolving Wilds can be useful, especially with landfall triggers. You're also missing lands like Rupture Spire, Shimmering Grotto, Transguild Promenade, and Unknown Shores. They were essential before Wastes, but now they can be easily replaced.

January 10, 2016 7:23 p.m.

Good point about Expanse and Wilds. I'll be adding the new stuff once the set is released.

Rupture spire and Promenade aren't included because there's really no reason to ever include them in a colorless edh deck, there are plenty of better lands that A) dont' come into play tapped and B) don't cost you a mana to play.

Mirrorpool and Kozilek, the Great Distortion from OGW. They're may be more, but I haven't mastered all the cards in the set yet....

January 15, 2016 8:29 p.m.

What about Crucible of the Spirit Dragon, Opal palace, Command Tower (prob a no but I figured I'd ask.), and Encroaching wastes?

January 20, 2016 3:39 p.m.

Crucible is on there, palace and tower are a good idea though with the rules change

Or just all wastes if you want. Hard to keep track of all that insane utility.

August 24, 2016 12:15 a.m.

QuietMyth says... #23

Hidran the utility is one of the only reasons to play colorless lol. Usually 5 or 6 wastes max. Unless your meta is heavy on nonbasic hate

August 25, 2016 6:11 p.m.

@QuietMyth, eep, 5 or 6 wastes max? so this is a big no-no to you?

excellent idea for a list! thanks for all the work you put into this!

I have a list of lists here, and I'm gonna add this to it so it can get a bit more exposure. You may also see something you like there as well. =)

Thanks again.

EDIT: also, if anybody knows of any other cool lists, please let me know! ;)

i know it sounds like a lot of work but you should make these into custom categories so its easier to find what you want... +1 anyways helped a lot with my Karn EDH deck.

Colorless is a type of mana that has no color.
Therefore, Ancient Ziggurat, Exotic Orchard, Gemstone Mine, Glimmervoid, Lotus Vale, Mana Confluence (and Crumbling Vestige on the first turn) can't produce colorless mana.

Also, Vesuva enters the battlefield tapped, Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth doesn't produce colorless mana either and if I were to be a nitpicker, Temple of the False God does not tap for 1 colorless (so it shouldn't be included, according to your destcription).

Anyway, thanks for the list! I found it very helpful.
