Vaevictus, Biggest, Dumbest of the Elder Dragons.
He Kinda looks like a chicken, Doesn't He?
This Deck is Designed to optimize the Bin-Chickens overwhelming rule of the skies and ability to knock down pesky blockers to dominate the mid-late game whilst also gaining extra value from sacrifice, landfall and retrace.
THE PLAN
The Main goal of the deck is to have The Chicken hit the field asap. Most of the ramp to get to Bae grabs more lands, because these cards only lose their value in the late game if you are way ahead and have already searched up all the basics. Chromatic lantern is in the deck to counteract this by letting your fetch lands tap for mana.
After you have Vaevictis on the field you want to just smash in and control the board, creating Sac fodder with Avenger of Zendikar and Worm Harvest . If you don't have access to these never fear saccing your lands. Through value engines such as World Shaper , Titania, Worm Harvest , Lord Windgrace and Crucible, Lands Are useful even in the bin.
TOP-DECK MATTERS
When vaevictus Attacks, He brings the boys from the top of your library down to party. Unless there is an instant or sorcery there. Then everyone else gets value. Not you. We need to Fix this. Cards like Doom Whisperer and Viscera Seer can influence what is on top of your deck. Genesis Wave uses that ridiculous amount of mana you generate to get Bae out early to get all the cards from the top of your deck. Whilst Aid from the Cowl Does a very good vaevictis impression, especially well on a turn that Bae Attacked. Helm of the Host Lives in this category for the dream team of not 1, but 2 BIN-CHICKENS!!!
Sacrifice
Obviously, if we're gonna get value from the Vaevictis Flip, We may as well take advantage of everyone saccing stuff as well. Cards like It That Betrays , Titania and Nesting Dragon create new fodder and value from not just your sacrifices, but everyone's. The old Leader of this group was Mazirek but he always seemed to show up just before the party and die, or once the party was banging and he wasn't needed.
PROTECTION
Every Deck has an antithesis. this deck has no exception. That monster Sigarda, Host of Herons can make sure that Vaevictis cannot remove things and could leave us stuck, not gaining value. Luckily, This deck packs WAY to much removal. Assassin's Trophy , Windgrace's Judgement, and Decimate are powerful enough to get around the permanent check, whilst Shriekmaw , Acidic Slime , Reclamation Sage and Ravenous Chupacabra pack as much punch cast from your hand or flipped with Vaevictis. All the planes walkers in the deck have at least one removal mode, and the Stack of board wipes, all of which can leave Vaevictis alive if used correctly can get rid of a troublesome piece in a pinch.
