My take on Lord Windgrace. Suggestions are ALWAYS welcome and appreciated!

Do you love playing around with lands, and watching your pesky blue opponents with their pesky counterspells in their hands trembling because LANDS ARE NOT SPELLS HAHA. (It still hurts a lot when one of our spells gets countered. >.<)

All jokes aside, our feline Lord Windgrace is MY favourite lands matter commander, that's because I don't like playing broken combos (I'm looking at you, The Gitrog Monster ) and I love our commander's lore, from the old Urza storyline. Keep in mind, he's one of the Nine titans AND ALSO HE HAS TWO HEARTS. What's not to like about him? But I digress.

So, where to begin, this is a deck based around making value from... strong interactions! Let's take a quick look at the most important ones.
  1. Lord Windgrace + any lands in your graveyard: This puts you ahead. And I mean AHEAD. if you manage to crack two fetches before playing the cat, you're going to essentially be at turn 7 the moment you drop our commander on turn 5. Talk about ramp!

  2. Korvold, Fae-Cursed King + any sacrifice effect: Guess what, this includes lands! Crack a fetchland, you get to draw a card and Korvold gets pumped. Squandered Resources ? Sac a land for mana, a card and +1/+1 on our dragon noble. Need I talk about Scapeshift ?

  3. Prismatic Omen + Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle or Cabal Coffers and/or Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth : This means business. A lot of mana with the coffers or a bolt anywhere you want per land played.

  4. Craterhoof Behemoth + Avenger of Zendikar or Field of the Dead or Titania, Protector of Argoth : You win the game. And you get to say THAT'S A LOTTA DAMAGE.

  5. Scapeshift + Ob Nixilis, the Fallen and/or Field of the Dead and/or Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle : This will basically end games. That's even better if you pair our volcano or field with Vesuva

  6. Speaking of Vesuva : It is a friend of any land we play. But it's best friends with Field of the Dead , Cabal Coffers , Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle or Bojuka Bog .

  7. The classic Thespian's Stage wuth Dark Depths : This needs no explaination.

  8. Crucible of Worlds or Ramunap Excavator with any land: Playing lands from your graveyard doesn't decrease your hand size, thus giving you card advantage!

And these are just some!

Let's quickly talk about ramping in this deck. I wrote "quickly" because I think it's pretty obvious stuff.
Everyone knows that drawing cards in a game of Magic is great. Why not choose the cards you are going to draw? Well, tutoring is better than drawing!

Here are some of the tutors we're running.

We all love drawing cards! Here are some ways our deck allows us to do that.

  • First and foremost, our commander lets us draw cards, often two at a time.
  • The classic Sylvan Library , brainstorming every draw phase.
  • Tireless Tracker gives us a Clue everytime a land enters the battlefield on our side. And every Clue gives us a card when sacrificed!
  • We have the Horizon Land Nurturing Peatland .
  • Nissa, Vital Force 's emblem just wins us the game. The amount of advantage it gives us is overwhelming.
  • The unholy frog The Gitrog Monster draws us a card everytime a land enters our graveyard from anywhere... There are a lot of sick combos with it, but we're not playing that kind of deck. (Actually, there is one...)

Our Jund homeland allows a lot of removal spells. Here's a list of what I'm playing.

Staxing your opponents, our defense plan. What do we have here...

  • To prevent lethal damage: Glacial Chasm and Constant Mists . The Mist is a very strong card. It can easily shut down a lot of strategies. It's almost incredible what it can do.
  • Stranglehold . To answer the barbarian's riddle you must choke to death first. Love this card. No more additional turns AND NO MORE TUTORS for our opponents. This even stifles fetchlands. Incredible.
  • Sylvan Safekeeper acts as a sac outlet for out lands (Titania loves this) and he can protect our most important creatures by giving them shroud.
  • Cindervines can shut down the "I play all my deck" decks and acts as a removal for artifacts and enchantments.

Now. To establish our Lord's dominance. Here are the game-ending threats.

To conclude this """primer""" I'd like to thank EkoLogiko and Matteo for some great suggestions... This deck would never have been this good without your help, so thank you.

Let the Lord's spirit live on... One with his Land, Urborg.
