Undead Servant

Creature — Zombie

When Undead Savant enters the battlefield, create a 2/2 black Zombie creature token for each card named Undead Servant in your graveyard.

Gidgetimer on Specific card name effects and …

When a card refers to itself by name it means "the card this ability is on", if it cares about the actual name of the card it says "card(s) named". All four cards you have asked about say "card(s) named" in the parts you are asking about and therefore care about the name of the card listed in the abilities.

Undead Servant is the only one that has an instance of the ability referring directly to the card it is on. So the ability there for the purpose of the rules is "when THIS CARD enters the battlefield, create a 2/2 black Zombie creature token for each card named Undead Servant in your graveyard."

The general rule is that whenever a card refers to itself by name, it can be replaced by "this card."

Undead Servant refers to other cards named Undead Servant. If an Undead Servant enters the battlefield under my control, and I equip Spy Kit at instant speed before the token creation ability resolves, does the ability count the number of cards named Undead Servant in my graveyard or the number of non-legendary cards that share a name with the Spy Kit-equipped Undead Servant? The current ruling doesn't quite seem to address this: "Count the number of Undead Servants in your graveyard as the ability resolves to determine how many tokens to put onto the battlefield. If Undead Servant dies in response to its own triggered ability and is in your graveyard as that ability resolves, it will count toward the number of Zombies you get."

For the opposite end of this question, if Sakashima the Impostor enters the battlefield as a copy of Undead Servant, will it count the number of Servants or the number of Sakashimas in my graveyard?

Good start. There's definitely some cuts you can make, even if you stay budget freindly. There's several utility lands that can go in here that aren't bad on the wallet. Cabal Stronghold is the budget Cabal Coffers.Bojuka Bog, the cycling lands, Reliquary Tower Myriad Landscape to name a few. You could probably cut Undead Servant, Covenant of BloodFlesh to Dust and Pharika's Spawn for some better choices. Sidisi, Undead Vizier will be an all-star in here. Not the cheapest but not bank braking ( at least last I checked.) Worth the investment. Death Baron could fill another slot.

Typically the cards that will easily never see EDH play are the cards that summon more copies of itself or get better as duplicates are played ( Undead Servant , Goblin Gathering , Growth Cycle , or that white soldier creature that searches for more copies of itself) or have to do with "same name" effects (so Circu, Dimir Lobotomist and Dragonlord Kolaghan will never be anyone's commander). Here's my submission:

Rakdos Roll Call

Sorcery

For each nontoken, nonlegendary creature you control on the battlefield, you may search your library for another card of the same name and put it into your hand. Shuffle your library afterward. Then, you lose 1 life for each card in your hand.

Exile Rakdos Roll Call as it resolves.

If you hear your name called, it's best not to answer.

Hey there. For me, the first thing to look at is tightening the deck up. Any deck that has all 1 and 2 ofs is a deck that doesn't have a great deal of focus. Do you want a deck that is fast off the ground and applies pressure, and then makes a load of tokens in the mid-late game? Or did you want something slower? At the moment the deck is fighting against itself. It runs Diregraf Ghoul which is an aggressive one drop, but also runs Grave Betrayal for seven mana, which is loads.

If you want to play more aggressively and make tokens, there are some really nice and very cheap zombie cards out there, I'll send some suggestions your way and see what you think.

Quest for the Gravelord is a nice one drop, pop it down, let your deck do what it does, and it won't be long before you get your 5/5. In very aggressive builds I like Carnophage, but as this build may be a bit slower, he might just cost you too much life. Another one drop you can run is Slitherhead. He isn't great, but he is one mana and boosts a guy after he dies. and if you run 4x Endless Ranks of the Dead then you want to have a whole bunch of zombies down if you can.

Because you want zombies on the field, your deck can be vulnerable to removal, so it's nice to have some creatures that have some sort of protection. For two mana there is Butcher Ghoul who comes back, Spiteful Returned who enters when the creature he bestows dies, and Sultai Emissary who manifests when he dies. All super cheap cards, as well as being fun and interesting as well.

For three mana Unbreathing Horde is awesome, so I'd run more than one if you can. Another guy that packs a hell of a punch is Diregraf Colossus and Liliana's Elite. Or if you want to get rid of them from your graveyard, then Corpseweft lets you keep getting zombies back.

If you want to take to the skies, then Stitched Drake is really strong. A 3/4 flyer for 3 is amazing value. If you want to go even more bold, then you can run Skaab Ruinator. If you are playing a graveyard sort of feel, then Undead Servant can be really good value, and gives you guys for your Endless Ranks as well.

A big guy with protection is Relentless Skaabs. I love this guy, he's huge, and he comes back! Awesome!

If you want things in the graveyard then make sure you have cards that will do it. Cards such as Screeching Skaab, Thought Scour, and Geralf's Mindcrusher are only a few suggestions for you.

Anyway, there are just a few ideas to have a look at.

Your curve is severely off you need some one drops. Due to the prevalence of sack outlets I suggest Gravecrawler. Instead of Undead Servant play Diregraf Colossus.Instead of Curse of Shallow Graves play Endless Ranks of the Dead. Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx is also a great inclusion. Lowering your curve with great value would help you a lot.
