Description

Zombie-Storm with a Plan B

Gisa and Geralf, Corpses Everywhere!

Liliana Raises the Dead

Storm Options

  1. Gravecrawler + Phyrexian Altar + Rooftop Storm = infinite colored mana

  2. Gravecrawler + Ashnod's Altar + Rooftop Storm = infinite colorless mana

  3. Gravecrawler + Phyrexian Altar +Diregraf Colossus = infinite 2/2 zombies

  4. add the following to any above combo: Diregraf Captain / Plague Belcher / Bontu's Monument / Vengeful Dead = infinite damage

  5. add Secrets of the Dead to any above combo: draw your deck.

  6. add Grave Pact / Dictate of Erebos to any above combo: effective board wipe

Aggro

General synergy with zombies and aggro will also work just fine. Cuz, who doesn't like winning with a board load of zombies!?

  • Undead Warchief Best lord affect you have in the deck. Zombies are cheaper AND he hits himself on the buff.

  • Death Baron Buff to other zombies and makes others scared to block. Always a good choice.

  • Zombie Master Regenerate and swampwalk? sounds pretty good to me.

  • Diregraf Captain Not only is he a lord, hes also a combo piece. Just great all together.

  • Mikaeus, the Unhallowed buff to all non humans and undying. I'd say that's pretty darn powerful.

  • Risen Executioner Buff and can always be played from the graveyard. That's just a nice perk.

  • Lord of the Accursed Replacement for Cemetery Reaper, Menace for all zombies seems to be much better than one more body.

  • Carrion Feeder Sac outlet and gets bigger. love it.

  • Coffin Queen Let me bring back my ETB trigger? yes please.

  • Cryptbreaker 2/2 tokens just come into play? use them to his ability! profit

  • Diregraf Colossus one of the MVP's of this deck. This guy does so much work due to the zombie cast trigger.

  • Fatestitcher untaps important cards like Grimgrin, Corpse-Born

  • Fleshbag Marauder Abuse his ETB to help manage the field

  • Gempalm Polluter possible way to finish; and if not, draws a card and can be cast again later from the Commander.

  • Gravecrawler Auto include. just too powerful due to combo potential.

  • Gray Merchant of Asphodel Combo piece. win game by abusing his ETB.

  • Grimgrin, Corpse-Born Sac outlet, gets bigger, AND destroys a creature on attack trigger. Savage.

  • Havengul Lich Cast stuff from the graveyard for one more mana than CMC? Such a broken card. Honestly wish he was able to be the commander.

  • Helldozer Big baddie that also destroys those pesky Maze of Ith and other problems.

  • Lich Lord of Unx Makes more Zombies and hurts them for your the number of zombies you have. pretty cool.

  • Prized Amalgam this things comes back on its own. That's just cool

  • Relentless Dead

  • Sidisi, Undead Vizier Tutor? sweet.

No Plague Belcher? You might also consider River Kelpie. Though not a zombie, the kelpie nets you two cards every time you cast a zombie from the grave. Other possibilities: Undead Alchemist, Intruder Alarm, Stitcher Geralf, Dread Summons.

At least for flavor reasons I feel like this deck would love Army of the Damned and Zombie Apocalypse.

Hey I run this commander. It's one of my favorite brews. I have more emphasis on grave filling, with Geralf's Mindcrusher, Altar of Dementia, and stuff like that. So I use Witchbane Orb to help protect my grave. I also run Laboratory Maniac as an alt win, which I have pulled off a couple times. Other random cards worth looking into are Noxious Ghoul, Secrets of the Dead, Dreamborn Muse, Scourge of Nel Toth, Urza's Incubator. If you wanna peruse my brew, its on my profile. Happy Necromancing!

I play this commander, love it. Four hero cards in my deck are:

Buried Alive is a great way to get your best zombies into grave for command ability

Secrets of the Dead is great, because Gisa and Geralf's ability counts as casting from grave. (Says already considered by you, really consider it. It's great)

Vengeful Pharaoh has basically deathtouch from grave. Either people forget about him and swing with a big guy, or he acts as a deterrent against attacking.

Moonlight Bargain look at top 5 and put zombies into grave and anything you really want into hand for very small life

I had a chance to go through your deck more thoroughly today. I love Sudden Spoiling, gonna have to add it to my The Cranberries with an eyepatch.

I also really like Beacon of Unrest and Unearth, but i dont think i can justify the 5 mana cost on the Beacon.

    Nice deck build.

Hybrow the reason i justify Beacon is due to the fact it hits any graveyard, creatures + artifacts, AND it shuffles. More times I can count, Beacon has be involved with a major play in not only my deck, but an opponent's deck.

Thank you and maxon for the suggestion of Secrets of the Dead i think that will definitely be an include instead of Endless Ranks of the Dead (ends up never being used) or Compelling Deterrence

cool deck +1 I used to have a zombie deck sort of like this and it was fun to play with but I'm now working on an angel-demon deck Iroas's Judgement.

Lord of the Accursed can be a powerful lord late game, giving your team menace can easily finish someone off

why Grixis Panorama? it only taps for colorless and youll be cracking it in a turn or two anyways, plus early game its literally only good for being cracked as youll need your colors. You may as well use evolving wilds or terramorphic expanse in its place, which yes i see you already are but the point is you may as well replace it with a basic. even Reflecting Pool would be an amazing upgrade. Personally though, id replace it with Moonring Island if you can get it online as it helps know if you need a quick scry effect before casting your commander or milling for another reason

Athraithe Reflecting Pool is an obvious upgrade. Ill be picking that up soon. Unsure why i didnt see that before.

    Thanks for the catch!

I would highly recommend taking out Risen Executioner. I know that he can be pulled out from the graveyard, but he costs extra per zombie in your graveyard. That is kind of counterintuitive because you want those other zombies in there.

That's just my two cents though!

If you do decide to do that, I would recommend putting in Grave Titan, Wurmcoil Engine, and/or Priest of Gix. I also think you should definitely include Nim Deathmantle.

Ashnod's Altar + Nim Deathmantle + Grave Titan / Wurmcoil Engine / Priest of Gix = Infinite either infinitely colorless mana and 3/3 zombies; infinite colorless mana and 3/3 deathtouch/lifelink wurms; and/or infinite black mana respectively.

freakingShane thanks for the suggestions! I had seen those options on other zombiestorm lists, although I was unsure how to get them into my 99. I think ill keep playing this list until I find something clearly underwhelming, then I'll try to work those in.

Risen Executioner I agree is kinda counter intuitive. I only end up using his recast option when its most beneficial. Once milled him and Cryptbreaker off my commander's first cast of the game. Next turn I cast both of them from the yard, no extra needed. Otherwise I end up casting him normally with Havengul Lich.

Would love to get your +1 _

Of course, friend! And I completely agree with you on your decision. Don't cut something unless you feel like it is absolutely necessary!

Any reason why Endless Ranks of the Dead isn't in here?

    June 7, 2017 2:08 a.m.

    KarnAgGolem says... #16

wbrannan98 Endless Ranks of the Dead used to be in the deck. I love the card, I do. But the issue is that with my meta, the card either never resolves or I am kept off my zombies so as to not trigger a benefit. So this enchantment never really did its job. It got the point that it became dreadful to draw into. So I replaced it. shrugs

I am shocked to see a zombie EDH deck running without Corpse Harvester!

    June 19, 2017 4:19 p.m.

    KarnAgGolem says... #18

ClockworkSwordfish, believe me I am as well. I wanted to playtest with Shepherd of Rot first. Personally i like the Harvester more, but the lower mana cost of Shepherd is ultimately what lead to it gaining the spot.

If he doesnt work out, ill end up replacing him with the harvester
