Maybeboard

An Elas deck with Lurrus companion.

Moved Ayli, Eternal Pilgrim to the 99 and replaced her with Elas il-Kor, Sadistic Pilgrim. I feel like the trade immediately paid off as Elas makes for a more active playstyle. It turned out that while running Ayli as commander, I didn't often use her second ability to remove threats as I kinda just let my deck do its thing instead. And I don't really miss "saving" Lurrus from spot exile with her first ability because now Lurrus really only hits the board if I'm already ahead to keep me even more ahead.

This deck runs surprisingly well. To the point I think that the 2 cmc restriction on permanents just to have Lurrus is probably not worth it. But I like the theme and probably won't upgrade the deck to >2 cmc permanents.

My playgroup likes playing creature heavy decks with most people including some sort of creature token generations. This deck really shines in that setting as it tends to gain a lot of life from creatures coming on and off of the board. Low cmc lets me flood the board early and wall myself off while cards like Blood Artist and Soul Warden do work. With the swap from Ayli to Elas, it becomes easier to make wiping my own board a win condition. With Elas and other cards of the same effect, it it literally turns my board into a ticking time bomb.
