I built this deck because I wanted to Maze's End, Door to Nothingness and throw 10 8/8 lands at people with Liege of the Tangle. This is for my inner Timmy, Power Gamer. It's a hard deck to play as it's a late game focused and requires good judgement when tutoring for land.

Ramping to 5 mana to get my general out, threaten a wipe, and start generating value is the core plan of the deck. If your meta is faster than that, then this deck is not for you. Child allows you to be a perceived as a consistent board wipe threat which keeps people in check. Since the core of this deck is wiping the board and investing into lands, this is not an easy deck to overrun people with.

You need to get Simic colors fast and ramp. There's top end creatures you're going to want to cast and turn 4 commander is never bad. Manabases are tough since you need 11 for Maze's End + Gates, 4 or 5 basics for Cultivate/Kodama's Reach, putting you at 16 lock ins. That leaves 20 more lands that can't ETB tapped, otherwise you're too slow, and it's wallet constrained.

Most common land tutor targets and situations are:

• Yavimaya, Cradle of Growth/The World Tree - Be able to tap Maze of Ith and Glacial ChasmGC for mana, fix colors
• High Market - Uncounterable sac outlet for Child of Alara
• Maze's End - Only if very desperate when tutoring for repeatable fixing or because you'll win on the next turn. It is not a primary win condition.
• Castle Vantress - You're mana rich, card quality low
• Field of the DeadGC - The best land if you already have 6 or more
• Maze of Ith/Glacial ChasmGC - Survive
• Windswept Heath/Polluted Delta - You have Crucible of Worlds out and want to get lands until you run out of valid targets
• Baldur's Gate/Gond Gate/Basilisk Gate - You're doing gate stuff and want to keep doing gate stuff.
• Dark Depths/Thespian's Stage - You have extra land drops, GY recursion, and want to make lots of 20/20 indestructible fliers that survive Child wipes.

The most reliable win cons are combining a mass land fetch + a landfall card. There's a lot of ways to amass value. Commander damage is also a real threat with Slayer's Stronghold threatening a 8 hasty damage at a time.

Only ever Wargate for X = 0, 1 if you specifically need Amulet of Vigor to win immediately, 5 for creatures. 99% of the time X = 0.
