Whenever Nine-Fingers Keene deals combat damage to a player, look at the top nine cards of your library. You may put a Gate card from among them onto the battlefield. Then if you control nine or more Gates, put the rest into your hand. Otherwise put the rest on the bottom of your library in a random order.

Made some changes, hopefully I remember to update when I have the deck handy xD

Even before the changes though this deck does the thing you expect. Make lots and lots of mana and win with it. Actually kind of have to force the Maze's End win. Though I have done it once now! That was pretty satisfying to actually make happen. I'm 50/50 on Nine-Fingers Keene herself tbh. Like sometimes she's been real solid and swinging for basically free turn after turn in a game. Other games there was no point in playing her because I didn't have any good attacks with her. Menace just doesn't feel good by itself. Menace + another thing seems to be needed to make her consistently strong enough to attack with. Her other part of when you control so many gates you keep all the cards. That just isn't going to happen unless you are also right there with the Maze win too... She may get replaced in the future. Might even swap a color or two as I consider replacements. Would like to go for less popular land commanders if anyone happens to make suggestions. Of course the ward has been a huge upside of her's, she just does not get targeted. Even when I know people have the removal and want to. That 9 life has just been too steep. This is without a heavy lifegain deck at the table though.

I recently converted my Zimone and Dina deck into Lord Windgrace. I totally overlooked Nine-Fingers Keene as another potential option for that swap lol. I'll have to keep her in mind, in case I'm ever looking for a change up down the road.

Have you considered Spelunking at all for this deck? Would give you a 3rd Amulet of Vigor/Tiller Engine type of effect.

You see Nine-Fingers Keene over there? He's trying to get your attention, but the other commanders from Baldur's Gate cut of half of both his index fingers.

Joking aside, without Golos, Keene seems to be the best Gate commander you can find.

Really cool deck! I love the "hide your loved ones" panel. So much flavor! Although on the custom commander I would suggest lowering the ward cost by about two life to make it seem fairer(pay no attention to Nine-Fingers Keene over here).

Nine-Fingers Keene feels like a 99 card in a gates deck. If you're playing gates, gut feeling is that you still want to stay 5 colour as if you're playing agtes then let's face it, you're playing Maze's End. So you want to optimise around being able to hit 10 different gates.

With the banning of Golos, Tireless Pilgrim (who was the go-to gate commander), you're probably looking at something like:

I don't actually like Child of Alara as a commander here as well. You'll have a lot of permaenet based utility that you'r relying on and as much as it's a bit cute having a wrath in the command zone, you're not playing a traditional lands.dec control deck.

Hi all, so with the realease of BaldurĀ“s Gate set, we got many gates and Nine-Fingers Keene do u think its enough to try and build around gates, ofc including the maze? some part of me feels like...its just not enough. What do you think? and how would u build an EDH with these new cards?
