Planar Genesis

Instant

Look at the top four cards of your library. You may put a land card from among them onto the battlefield tapped. If you don't put a card from among them into your hand. Put the rest on the bottom of your library in a random order.

Dont get me wrong I really like Planar Genesis and use it all the time but I find it to be a better in "I'm looking for a combo piece" situation (land comes into play tapped) where something like Growth Spiral gives sequencing for playing it on turn 2 and possibly playing blue source to have mana open for Spell Pierce so you draw ramp and have counter magic (just feels more powerful imo if I had to choose between the two).

Ominous Seas and Rowan, Scholar of Sparks  Flip seem cute but could/should probably be replaced by any combination of Shark Typhoon (it either makes a huge token or becomes a wincon in itself) and Tamiyo, Inquisitive Student  Flip is not only powerful (your opponent has to deal with it) but has so much synergy with your card choices like Flame of Anor... Magmatic Channeler is something that I have tried in the past ... it's just okay.

Icbrgr I was doubtful about Endurance and Rowan, Scholar of Sparks  Flip and i don't know what's the better option between Growth Spiral and Planar Genesis. U think of Magmatic Channeler taking the place of Ominous Seas or something else? Ty fir the advice

Have you considered other color combinations in this? I'm looking at this and thinking it might be better suited as a bant deck where you can use Impulse style cards to get to your approaches quicker. I know you have tons of stall as it is with the Fog effects but that seems limiting and not a good use of Wilderness Reclamation. Wilderness really shines when you can be proactive during your turn, untap and then react to your opponent if you need to. What I'm picturing is early ramp with a mix of some fogs, counters, and draw/scry effects. This way you create a bigger board sooner and can really take advantage of wilderness.

Picture this, ramp early with things like Search for Tomorrow, Planar Genesis, or Rampant Growth until you get to 4 mana. Cast Wilderness Reclamation. Untap and wait for your opponent to try something that you Rewind/Unwind. End of their turn Impulse, Memory Deluge, or maybe a Gifts Ungiven finding 4 different Fog effects to crush their dreams of victory in combat. Back to your turn to do it all again. Six mana available, Seasons Past and watch their face drop as all their hard work is about to be pointless for the 2nd time this game.

I'm just theory crafting here but I feel like it would be a lot more fun and engaging than just draw for the turn, play a land, go. Play fog, my turn again. Up to you though. I'm not sure how you enjoy the game. But if this intrigues you, I can always help you explore the idea more.

@DragonMaster420 as far as a Control deck goes its most definitely "fast enough" for current Modern (positioned 15th out of 43 players - 09/05/26 and Traumatic Critique makes it waaaay cleaner to close out games than how the deck as been built previously. The real issue the deck has is the increasing amount of maindeck enchantment removal decks have with Haywire Mite/Leyline Binding ect ect... its powerful but fragile. Utopia Sprawl isn't in the list because it is a proactive ramp spell in a reactive, instant-speed control deck. The deck needs cheap interaction on turn one and two; things like Planar Genesis/Growth Spiral that get played at Instant speed digging deeper into the deck to find the next essential spell with potential sequencing to on Turn 2 spiral and play and additional untapped land for holing up Spell Snare/Lightning Bolt.

@sirbar You're absolutely correct the surveil lands smooth out draws and play really nice with Flashback or fueling delve for Logic Knot... I simply just don't have any lol plan to pick some up when i've got some spare change to put towards the deck.

oh very nice! I highly recommend Planar Genesis as a consideration for a draw/ramp spell

I have replaced Planar Genesis with Duskmantle Guildmage, as I believe that the latter card better suits the theme of this deck.

I have replaced Simic Charm with Planar Genesis, since I feel that the previous card was rather underwhelming, whereas the new card better fits the theme of this deck; now, I need to decide what card shall replace Plasm Capture, since that card has a very strict casting cost.
