Artifact shenanigans

ajacobik says... #1

Academy Ruins , Buried Ruin , Deadeye Navigator (combos amazingly with Sharuum), Open the Vaults , Mindslaver ?

Also, Phyrexian Metamorph and Sculpting Steel make an infinite combo with Sharuum. The infinite loop is breakable with cards such as Arcbound Crusher , Vermiculos , Glaze Fiend , and Disciple of the Vault .

+1 from me. Give my Sharuum deck a +1 and a look at deck:your-audience-with-the-hegemon-begins-now.

Thanks for the comment, the current list is kind of weak because it's only cards that I physically have at the moment I need to figure out what else I need before I can go buy the cards.

Deadeye Navigator is perfect, I was looking for other ways to abuse CIP abilities other than Master Transmuter.

I'm also not a fan of playing with or against infinite combos so I'm probably not gonna run the double sharuum trick. Although Phyrexian Metamorph or Disciple of the Vault might make it in cause they're still awesome without the combo.

ajacobik says... #3

You're quite welcome! If you don't want to abuse the combo route, you may want to run more board sweeping spells. I find that card:Life's Finale, Phyrexian Rebirth , and Divine Reckoning are wonderful in my Sharuum deck. Also, thanks for the +1!

Note: card:Conjurer's Closet is miraculous with Sharuum as well. Because it's an artifact, it's also a good target for reanimation.

I strongly recommend getting Academy Ruins , Mindslaver ...I lost to that combo lol.

Also, the Scourglass and Sanctum Gargoyle is a combo I hate very much.

Maybe Blightsteel Colossus or Platinum Emperion might help.

I think you did a great job! +1

Please take a look and comment on my new commander deck Damia's Zombie Army

I strongly agree with Zifier!

EchoSi3rra says... #6

Yes Academy Ruins would be great, but my LGS is out of stock right now and it's a bit too expensive for me. I'll probably add Mindslaver whenever I get one.

I don't think I want to add Blightsteel Colossus or Platinum Emperion right now. I don't like using infect unless I'm going with a complete infect deck because infect and regular damage don't work very well together. Also Platinum Emperion would prevent me from gaining massive amounts of life from Filigree Angel .

All I need to do now is play with it a bunch to see what works and what dosen't.

Thanks for the +1, I'll be sure to check out your Damia deck because I was considering making a zombie tribal deck with Damia before I decided to make this one.

Might i suggest Mox Opal ? And if you're not a fan of Platinum Emperion you could also try Platinum Angel for 0 life shenanigans, and then some.

I was wondering why you are not using Sphinx's Revelation , draw power at instant speed for more artifacts is always good.

You might also include Brilliant Ultimatum

AngelsOrDie says... #9

Sorry for the double post but i was going to agree with Ultra you should use Platinum Angel .

Also, why is Day of Judgment in here over Supreme Verdict ?

Hey, take a look at my updated list. It's a lot better now than it used to be and I think you may find some useful toys:

EchoSi3rra says... #12

AngelsOrDie, I'm not using Sphinx's Revelation simply because it's expensive and I don't have one, same thing with Supreme Verdict , Day of Judgment is cheaper and I already had one. Platinum Angel will go in if I ever get one. Brilliant Ultimatum just doesn't seem that good.

I have a few recommendations,

Firstly, more draw power, Consecrated Sphinx , Fact or Fiction , Tezzeret's Gambit

Counterspells are this decks "Shield of Kaldra " lol, Counterspell , Cryptic Command , Hindering Light , Pact of Negation , Perplex opponents hate it lol, Glen Elendra Archmage (combos well with Hex Parasite for infinite noncreature counterspell, Force of Will

Sen Triplets is a monster in this deck, and is a 1v1 all star,

Mycosynth Lattice combos extremely well with Sen Triplets and Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas ,

Tamiyo, the Moon Sage , and Venser, the Sojourner are good in here, venser's -2 is almost a game ender

Definitely replace Indomitable Archangel with Leonin Abunas because hexproof > shroud, again combos well with mycosynth lattice

Memnarch is a monster, nuff said

Sun Titan is great for this

Ethersworn Canonist is a rough card for your oppenents to deal with if you've built your deck correctly

Check out my sharuum edh deck

Yes I know all about the infinite combo. This is not a combo deck and I don't intend to combo out. Sure, I can loop Sharuum infinite times if I wanted to but I have no way to make that beneficial to me. Phyrexian Metamorph and Sculpting Steel are in the deck because they are good even without the combo, all the other combo pieces are not in the deck because they are bad without the combo.

ajacobik says... #17

For the record, Bitter Ordeal is awesome whether you intend to combo or not. If I were you I'd run it and just never use it to combo. Following a boardwipe it's an awesome way to neuter an opponent.

the combo can be paired can also be paired with Bitter Ordeal , why mill when you can exile the entire library of your enemies?

ajacobik says... #19

Bitter Ordeal was discussed already in the comments directly above yours.

April 26, 2014 6:39 p.m.

Yes to Arcum Dagsson and Nevinyrral's Disk from maybeboard. I like sacing 1/1 tokenswith Arcum Dagsson from Sharding Sphinx and getting Darksteel Forge . Then doing it again next turn and getting Nevinyrral's Disk . But if you really want to make sure no one wants to play with you again, you can do Mycosynth Lattice , Darksteel Forge and use Nevinyrral's Disk .

So I'm considering adding a Salvaging Station package to this deck, does anybody have any suggestions on what to cut to make room for the station and a couple more trinkets?

February 3, 2015 12:53 p.m.

ajacobik says... #23

Salvaging Station is a tool best used in combo and stax builds, which your deck is not. You have way too many creatures and way too high of a curve to properly make use of a Salvaging Station engine. If you want to make the man's decision and move your deck more towards the highly-rewarding, fun-to-pilot combo Sharuum, I'd have to recommend you deconstruct your deck and start over from the basics. Jack_from_NC's Sharuum primer on MTGSalvation is probably the best Sharuum resource on the internet, I'd suggest giving it a long read if you want to make the jump; however, a few simple suggestions at first are to build with the Thopter Foundry/Sword of the Meek/Krark-Clan Ironworks combo in mind. KCI and the Sword are innocuous on their own and easy to keep afield; once the last piece is in place you can generate infinite mana and infinite uses of Salvaging Station, which you can use to draw your deck with spellbombs or just generate incredible value off other trinkets. If you don't want to gear up your deck for combos, I'd say the following cards are your weakest slots that you should cut from for SS and trinkets.

Baleful Strix

Burnished Hart

Enigma Sphinx

Etherium Sculptor

Filigree Angel

Sanctum Gargoyle

Sharding Sphinx

Sphinx Sovereign

Sphinx Summoner

Swiftfoot Boots

Tempered Steel

Ammo37 says... #24

Arcum Dagsson is much better than Artificer's Intuition, You only have 5 targets with artificer's, vs 26 targets with Daggson. The targets also overlap.

Ammo37 says... #25

Sorry for the long list

Replace Fabricate with Enlightened Tutor

Replace Necrogen Spellbomb with Steel Overseer

Replace Executioner's Capsule with Doom Blade

Replace Dispeller's Capsule with Disenchant or Return to Dust

Replace Courier's Capsule with Artificer's Epiphany

Replace Aether Spellbomb with Cyclonic Rift

Replace Wayfarer's Bauble with Land Tax or Oath of Lieges or Sword of the Animist or Surveyor's Scope

Remove Voltaic Key: wastes a deck slot to give a creature vigilance sometimes.

Remove Gilded Lotus: costs too much for a mana ramp.

Remove Open the Vaults: Oblivion Stone into dead board.

Remove Swiftfoot Boots: No creature is so important that it needs hexproof

Remove Lightning Greaves: ""

Remove Temple of the False God Lands are most important in the early game, at the point Temple activates you should be good on mana.

Remove Magister Sphinx: Don't be a dick.

Remove Muzzio, Visionary Architect: Costs too much for little gain.

Remove Salvaging Station: Too few targets

Suggestions for newly found free deck slots.

Curse of the Swine: You have a blue deck, run this

Arcbound Crusher

Arcbound Fiend: Can steal other players +1/+1 counters

Blue Sun's Zenith

Thopter Foundry: A must in an artifact centric deck

Cloud Key

Arbiter of the Ideal

Arsenal Thresher

Damping Engine

Trading Post

Chief of the Foundry

Rite of Replication

Vedalken Engineer

Platinum Angel

Akroma's Memorial

Transmute Artifact

Ashes to Ashes

Austere Command

Thopter Foundry

Swords to Plowshares

Path to Exile

Genesis Chamber

Golem Foundry

Ammo37, I appreciate all the suggestions but unfortunately I disagree with them. You seem to be missing the synergy between Salvaging Station, Artificer's Intuition and the various Spellbombs and Capsules. Doom Blade and Disenchant might be better for a different deck but for this deck the artifact versions are simply much better because you can reuse them multiple times.

Voltaic Key does much more than give a creature vigilance.

Gilded Lotus is very good ramp and gets even better when you can reanimate it or even untap it with Voltaic Key

The boots aren't just about the hexproof, haste is very relevant as well, and I would say that Master Transmuter is important enough to need hexproof.

If you get Temple of the False God in your opening hand, mulligan it away. More mana is always welcome.

Aside from the various "goodstuff" cards your suggestions seem all over the place and don't make much sense, What do the arcbound creatures add to my deck when there is no other +1/+1 counter theme? What does Arbiter of the Ideal bring if I have no way to repeatedly untap it and I don't care if my permanents are enchantments either. Arsenal Thresher is literally just a medium sized vanilla creature.

November 22, 2015 10:26 p.m.

Ammo37 says... #27

Transmute Artifact is a great way to get out whatever artifact you need

Arcbound Crusher is a win condition on its own. Every time ANY player puts an artifact into play it gets bigger. Add sharding sphinx to the equation and you win.

Arbiter of the Ideal is a decent creature that gets your artifacts/lands out for free, the enchantment clause doesn't matter.

Skullclamp with sacrifice, or just thopters, is a great way to get card draw.

Spellskite protects your board and steals positive enchantments and abilities from your opponents. So much for that Eldrazi Conscription.

The first thopter foundry was supposed to be Thopter Assembly, get more artifact creatures out there to synergize with Master of Etherium, Magister Sphinx and sac outlets.

Curse of the Swine why wouldn't you run this? It serves as removal and graveyard hate in one, not to mention it gets around most pesky staying powers.

Cool deck, I like the non-combo build of Sharuum. I tried to do that, but eventually I just gave in and threw a couple combos in there. A few cards I found useful:Sequestered Stash is nice for getting artifacts in the yard and then back to the hand, and it only takes up a land spot. Inventors' Fair similarly can tutor up an artifact, super useful when you have all the mana you need but nowhere to put it.Priest of Yawgmoth can be good if you ever find your graveyard and/or mana pool empty. Mana Vault is solid ram early and gets out of hand with Unwinding clock, Voltaic Key, or Tezzeret the Seeker out.Time Sieve is generally used for combos but is just generally a cool card, so if you find yourself with lots of thopters or something can be nice.Maze of Ith is just nice to hose voltron decks or avoid getting blown out by a Hellkite Tyrant.Gate to the AEther lets you repeatably get all the great permanents in your deck once you get to 8 mana. A tutor and a cheater all in one. Inefficient, sure, but when you're getting Darksteel Forge and Sphinx Sovereign it doesn't feel so bad.

These are just some suggestions based on what I run, but your deck definitely seems to be doing different things so they may or may not actually fit with yours.
