Serum Tank

Artifact

Whenever Serum Tank or another artifact enters the battlefield, put a charge counter on Serum Tank.

You know, along with the infinite combos, Serum Tank would be an excellent idea, just to draw an infinite amount of cards. Basically draw out your entire deck and win in the next turn.

I would look into some card draw, since you are running low CMC cards such as Signal Pest, Springleaf Drum, Ornithopter, Memnite, and Mox Opal. That's twenty cards at CMC 1 or lower, plus twenty free lands...Maybe Expose Evil (clues are artifacts, so any investigate cards would work), Pirate's Pillage, Frantic Salvage, or Origin Spellbomb.Serum Tank would run well, as would Tamiyo's Journal or Trading Post. You could also run Nahiri, the Harbinger for a control/search element.

MagicalHacker on Official MagicalHacker Commander List Update …

Welcome, fellow planeswalkers, to the Official MagicalHacker Commander List Update (OMCLU) for Commander 2017!

If you are not aware, I have had lists for commander staple effects for a very long time now, and I have been updating them as new sets are released. Unlike other staple lists that showcase individual cards that are commonly used (which http://edhrec.com does better anyways), I instead use these lists to show all cards in categories that have proven to be advantageous to have in Commander. More specifically, these categories of staples are ones that answer certain problems a deck could be experiencing, such as having a hard time against control, not being able to play cards in hand quickly enough, or dealing with problematic commanders. (The full list can be found on my profile.)

The purpose of this thread is three-fold:

  1. To raise public awareness for these lists (which I know to be extremely useful since I use them more than literally any other resource online when building decks), especially for the newest additions to them.

  2. To receive feedback about C17 cards that should be added/removed from lists, as I am only human and make mistakes too.

  3. To receive feedback about older cards that should be added/removed from lists. I'm surprised how many times I miss cards when they should be included.

Commander 2017 is up on Gatherer, so its now time to go through the process of updating my decks! (Sorry for the delay, I was working through some technical difficulties.)

I will happily concede that Daretti is the more powerful commander :) Your deck is sweet. Love the update with Squee, btw.

This deck is so full of utter jank (Ring of Three Wishes and Serum Tank right at the top of the list). I feel like this deck could be named, "All those cool effects that are way too expensive or impractical to go in a real deck mashed together". There's something about durdling for 10 turns and then just going absurdly off the rails with a crazy combo that scratches an itch.

I love Mindslaver. I recognize that in multiplayer, it sometimes just doesn't do enough for 10 mana. But it's just so fun to play Magic backwards to try to come up with the worst possible play. Also, copying its effect is so dirty. I'm not sure how strong it'll end up being in your build, but it's one of those cards that I love to try out in decks as a "fun of" in artifact decks.

Hey!I'm making myself a deck from Odric too and I also had the draw problem, so I came up with a couple cards to help me with that:

  • Mind Stone and/or Command Tower help with a little ramping but also serve as card draw in case you need, the same go for the cycle lands

  • In my case I use quite some equips, so Stone Haven Outfitter was a nice addition

  • Serum Tank Can give you one draw per turn almost every time, at one mana lower than Candles

  • Slate of Ancestry can do wonders when you have only one or no cards in hand and 3 or 4 creatures on the field, which is not hard with this deck

  • Bygone Bishop is almost a secon Mentor of the Meek, because a LOT of creature spells you cast are CMC 3 or lower

  • And there is always the most common draws, which I don't like much but can be helpful such as Staff of Nin, Skullclamp and Tamiyo's Journal

Also, consider swapping Courier Hawk for Hovermyr it has the exact same functionality in the deck except it doesn't need specific color mana, so you can use a mana rock to drop it.

Maybe Aligned Hedron Network as you only have 6 creatures with power 5 or greater.

Have you thought about adding in a draw engine like Serum Tank, or splashing in blue for Vedalken Archmage. The one card I would be concerned with as of late in Null Rod I am not sure what to use for that since you run on such a small mana base, it makes it a bit more difficult.
