Nope, not the woman, the mana costs! This is a Meren Toolbox list that seeks to always be prepared. Variance is important in our format, but nothing feels better than knowing you always have what you need. This deck seeks to use its beautiful mana curve to play an ever-increasing value game that can end in any number of powerful win conditions, tutoring for pieces along the way. The secret sauce to this deck is its high concentration of 4-drops and Dimir House Guard, who can tutor up any part of our basic drain and gain plan, as well as removal, card draw, ramp, recursion, and the ever-important Birthing Pod. Originally I had built this deck with no combos, but entirely on accident, I ended up with a combo or two. Don't worry, they're quite difficult to pull off and your group won't hate you if you're somehow able to make them work.

Points of Note

Dimir House Guard is the secret tech in this deck that you'll never be disappointed to pull. In an effort to make everything synergize, I've included only tutors that serve multiple purposes. Dimir House Guard is a requirable sac outlet! It also goes and gets more than a few cards in this deck, including Yawgmoth, Thran Physician, Solemn Simulacrum, Foundation Breaker, Birthing Pod, Poison-Tip Archer, Acolyte of Affliction, Deadly Rollick, Hagra Mauling  , Pitiless Plunderer, Lethal Scheme, Timeless Witness,

The concentration of 4-drops with lots of black in their mana costs is great for a particular card that is great to use Birthing Pod to go get. Yep, everyone's favorite wincon, Gray Merchant of Asphodel! Gary can be recurred pretty easily and, notably, pods into a few other wincons including Kokusho, the Evening Star, Mikaeus, the Unhallowed, and Izoni, Thousand-Eyed. Mikaeus effectively can "double" nonhuman ETB's, Izoni gives you a lot of bodies to sack and drain people out, and Kokusho simply does Gary but slightly worse

You'll also notice a pretty high concentration of creatures with 1 toughness, and you know what that means. Skullclamp! It's my favorite card in EDH, and I'm proud to say I was able to include it in a deck not focused on tokens!

Removal

This Meren list packs a lot of interaction, we don't go light on it. Assassin's Trophy Foundation Breaker Massacre Girl Living Death Caustic Caterpillar Dauthi Voidwalker Deadly Rollick Lethal Scheme Hagra Mauling   Shriekmaw Yawgmoth, Thran Physician The Meathook Massacre

Ramp

Our ramp package operates with full synergy, you won't find any ramp that doesn't serve an alternate purpose here. Not a single mana rock to be found. This deck thrives on synergy taken to the extreme, so all of our ramp is creature based! Birds of Paradise Llanowar Elves Fyndhorn Elves Diligent Farmhand Sakura-Tribe Elder Wood Elves Tangled Florahedron   Dawntreader Elk Solemn Simulacrum

Card Draw

This past year I've focused a LOT on card draw in my decks. Adding more of it, doing more of it, it helps smooth out your game a lot. All the draw here is synergistic and they all find their niche in different scenarios. Clattering Augur Elvish Visionary Grim Haruspex Izoni, Thousand-Eyed Liliana's Standard Bearer Midnight Reaper Plumb the Forbidden Skullclamp Yawgmoth, Thran Physician

Combos

Like I said, the Combos in here are purely incidental. I'm sure that there's more than a few ways for this to go infinite, but the number of pieces required is so high, you'll be lucky to ever come across theses

1: Phyrexian Reclamation + Pitiless Plunderer + Phyrexian Altar + Blisterpod + Any gain and drain outlet (ex:Zulaport Cutthroat) Drains the whole table of all their life and provides infinite death and etc triggers. You do end up with infinite mana as well.

2: Phyrexian Reclamation + Pitiless Plunderer + Phyrexian Altar + Golgari Thug + A 1CMC creature + Any gain and drain outlet (Syr Konrad works the best for this one) Drains the whole table and gives you infinite death and ETB triggers. Syr Konrad is best here because this effect will kill you eventually if you continue to do it infinitely. I am not 100% sure if this goes infinite or if it is just a fantastic synergy. I pulled it off one time and I think it may need another cheap creature to buffer the mana cost of Phyrexian Reclamation and casting Golgari Thug over and over again.

If you see any more combos, let me know! These two are really involved and purely accidental, but I'd rather let people know they're there.
