Clattering Augur

Creature — Skeleton Shaman

This can't block.

When this enters the battlefield, you draw a card and you lose 1 life.

: Return this from your graveyard to your hand.

Always gotta answer with Skeletons. I would like Zombies, but they get way more push than I would prefer--I feel like every time there's a halfway decent Skeleton card, there's a Zombie that does the same thing except better, either pre-existing or in the same set (Clattering Augur vs. Master of Death for one example). The underdog needs some love, too.

Undead rivalries aside, I like the bone aesthetic in fantasy and am fascinated by calacas (the skull decorations used for Dīa de Los Muertos in Mexico--if you've seen either of the animated movies Coco or The Book of Life, those are built around calacas and Day of the Dead imagery). As far as game mechanics go, I also enjoy the resilience that regenerate brings, or used to bring. The skeleton tribe helped me learn the basics of how to use both and control decks, which are the basis of my favorite playstyle to this day. Discard: for when counterspells don't say "no" hard enough.

Of the "major" tribes, I would have to go with Elves. Lots of mana, lots of options, , and generally easy to build.

Thanks for your comment Metropolis39

I tried Seasoned Pyromancer, but it did not worked for me unfortunately, it leads to a lot of "feel bad" situations.

Whenever you cast Seasoned Pyromancer with a Harmonic Prodigy in play you must discard and draw, it is not a "may" ability. Maybe I am just extremely unlucky, but I usually find myself empty handed, cast Seasoned Pyromancer while Harmonic Prodigy is in play, have an awesome first draw that I must discard immediately and draw 2 lands...

Seasoned Pyromancer is a great card (with a big price tag), but it does not work for me in this case. Same happened when I tried Rix Maadi Reveler, I rather add a couple of Clattering Augur instead.

Update: Tuning

Minus Massacre Wurm Plus K'rrik, Son of Yawgmoth

Why: smooths curve and allows for more explosive plays

Minus Sedgemoor Witch Plus Wandering Archaic  Flip

Why: ekes out some advantage, back side fills hands to target for more discard effects

Minus Tragic Slip Plus Baleful Mastery

Why: Accomplishes the same thing that im seeking from tragic slip and is more efficient for what it does

Minus Clattering Augur Plus Glasses of Urza

Why: glasses are tutor able by Urza's Saga allow to more efficiently and effectively target hands with removal, also great T1 play. (FIND OF THE DAYYYY!!!!)

Minus Viscera Seer Plus Gate to Phyrexia

Why: Artifacts like Mirage Mirror can be a problem for turgid in terms of interaction so having the ability at hand as well as replacing a sac outlet with a sac outlet is ok with me. Secondly being able to remove artifacts at will in black sounds nice
