When this enters the battlefield, return target card from your graveyard to your hand.

Timeless Witness Discussion

I was contemplating replacing Gavony Township with either Vitu-Ghazi, the City-Tree or Grove of the Guardian, as lands that can generate tokens are nice, but I ultimately felt that this deck already had a sufficient number of cards that generate tokens, so it would be better to have a land that makes my creatures more powerful.

Some other cards that would have been nice in this deck are Craterhoof Behemoth and Timeless Witness, but, again, there was no room for them, unfortunately.

How's it going man? I like Thanatis and believe the spider is an interesting way to promote table interaction, in more ways than one.

Timeless Witness is a self recurring Eternal Witness, which is useful as recursion, and may be psudeo 'unblockable' as killing it means it gets both beefier and extra value.

Kamahl, Heart of Krosa, Ruric Thar, the Unbowed and Grand Warlord Radha all fit in nicely here. Kamahl literally beats face with your team, notwithstanding his land pump ability. Ruric Thar is good hate on noncreatures, directly making the casting player an easier target (great with lifelink). Radha is just a creature Druids' Repository. Sure, she may be 1 cmc more, but she pays for herself the turn she is played by attacking.

Archetype of Endurance can help you protect your field, as both an anthem and form of protection, it has great usage. The other two Archetypes, Archetype of Aggression and Archetype of Finality are slightly redundant, as you have other options, but could be useful. Urabrask the Hidden is an honorable mention as well, but messes with Thanatis a bit.

Ring of Thune seems underwhelming, aside from giving cheap vigilance, I'd suggest Avarice Amulet, as it shifts focus off of your better creatures and provides a value engine for your opponents to squabble over. There's always Glaive of the Guildpact if you're set on equipment, but I prefer a creature with a pushing effect such as God-Eternal Rhonas or Sigardian Zealot

My main point is, in an aggressive deck, having creature value engines is best as they can attack, though I'm sure you already know that. Either way, deck looks sweet, keep at it my man!

this deck has alot of mill and ways to get stuff in the graveyard (although missing Golgari Grave-Troll and Golgari Thug) but then...what happens next? like you swing with a big creature(and no Splinterfright?)? not sure what the game plan is here unless you misread old rustein. Some payoffs for milling could be Syr Konrad, the Grim, Kessig Cagebreakers, Dread Return and other good flashback cards, Timeless Witness and Eternal Witness, Genesis and Brawn, Woe Strider, Mausoleum Secrets, Songs of the Damned, just more cards that do stuff in the graveyard or care about the graveyard to go with the mill plan. Living Death so good. Necrogoyf might work. Egon, God of Death  Flip.

also whats the all the dumb discard in the maybeboard lmaoo

Fun deck description, looks like a blast to pilot!

Kessig Wolf Run recently got a reprint, so I think it'd fall into your budget! It's another way to get your damage in, not only in pumping your own creatures but also leaving up mana to pump up someone else's. Another feather in your cap for when you want to start ending the game.

You already have Genesis, so I would also maybe look at fitting a Spore Frog in there somewhere! I've been saved many a time by this card, and once you get Genesis online, you can have a soft lock on combat damage, with you being able to recur the frog. Can be frustrating for combat based decks to deal with!

Eternal Witness is another card that I wish was JUST a bit cheaper, it'd fit into your deck. Pairs really well with Kogla, the Titan Ape (Which you should for sure give a try to!). At a few bucks less expensive, the relatively new Timeless Witness could be a budget option, with it only costing 1 more mana but gaining eternalize. Both would allow you to continue to fetch bombs from the graveyard once the game gets long.

Battle Mammoth helps in dealing with decks that have a lot of targeted removal, and is a decent beater for cheap if foretold. The recently rotating out Thorn Mammoth is another card that I've seen put in work once it resolves! Just a few ideas I had after reading the deck!

(Just checked, Eternal witness also got a reprint, so it'd slide in in just under 3 dollars!)

From Azusa player to Azusa player I like GASSSS, rebuilding mine recently and I've noticed something techs. I've been running Ghost Quarter recently. It's a free shuffle, but with land destro utility

  • If you have Courser of Kruphix, Augur of Autumn, or Oracle of Mul Daya on the battle field, drain the lands/cards off the top of your deck first. You're more likely to run into a card.
  • Play Ghost Quarter
  • If you would get more value off destroying a land then do that. (Be aware they will try to balance out their mana base)
  • Alternatively if there is a card on top your library that is a dead draw, pick a tapped land or tap a forest for mana, kill your own land and search out a forest that comes in untapped. (use the float)
  • If you have Ramunap Excavator, Ancient Greenwarden or Crucible of Worlds of worlds on the field you an repeat the previous steps. You can also float the mana from the forests being destroyed for each land drop than play something.

Timeless Witness is an ok tech if you want recurrence. Your not running Woodland Bellower, so its a 1 mana tradeoff to potentially get something later. Best way to think of it, if you feel a four mana green sun is better than a five mana green sun with later recurrence then don't make the trade off.

Good luck

Timeless Witness is too expensive mana wise. I have ways of recurring of Ewit, and my other creatures so the eternalize ability is unneeded.

And yes, Castle Garenbrig does synergize with them. Part of the cost of its ability is tapping itself to produce the mana and that's all that mana reflection and nyxbloom care about.
