I may never be a billionaire, but this deck makes me enough treasure to feel like I am. I am what some might refer to as a "Filthy Casual" but consider this: If you have an addiction to playing janky unique decks that aren't full of tutors or repetitive and played out combos, then this may just be an interest to you.
This deck was born of the combined desire to build two different decks, one deck built around
Mechanized Production
and copying artifacts, and another around making
Warp World
good by putting a bunch of tokens onto the battlefield. The two strategies can complement each other if the permanents produced for
Warp World
are all artifact tokens of the same name. Thopters and Treasure are some of the most easily producible artifact tokens, making them ideal candidates. Of course, two of the best treasure producing cards are in white and black;
Smothering Tithe
and
Revel in Riches
. This not only means adding these two colors to the deck, but also an additional win condition. Since we’re already focused on making as many artifact tokens as possible it just makes sense to add
Hellkite Tyrant
for another potential win condition, it’s not unusual to have 15 artifacts on your field alone so it becomes very attainable.
With the two main win conditions in this deck being so visible when they are on the field there is a high likelihood they will get removed before it sees your upkeep. If we don’t have access to the enchantments, then we will be relying on a more aggressive strategy with plain old combat. If we are going with the combat strategy then there are two viable options, but both rely on having multiple artifacts on the field. The first combat option we have is to go wide, usually with the multiple Thopters. This option works best with support from
Sharding Sphinx
and buffs from
Master of Etherium
and
Jor Kadeen, the Prevailer
. One of the star players in this deck is
Brudiclad, Telchor Engineer
, hasty tokens are nice, but the real power is that it puts all the extra treasure tokens to use by turning them into more creatures. Along the same vein, when you're swimming in treasure tokens and ready to make waves,
Rise and Shine
puts them to use, and can usually be better than Brudiclad since it guarantees that you're getting 4/4 creatures. It can feel extra nice if you have out
Skyclave Relic
,
Darksteel Ingot
, or
Darksteel Citadel
; an indestructible 4/4 is just an added bonus.
If you don’t have enough creature tokens for the go wide method, then try really power up a creature that scales with the number of artifacts on the field.
Akiri, Line-Slinger
;
Master of Etherium
;
Deadeye Plunderers
;
Darksteel Juggernaut
;
Hellkite Igniter
. Adding
Cranial Plating
to any of these creatures becomes very near lethal damage very quickly. Use
Loxodon Warhammer
or
Chariot of Victory
for the trample so you can get through blockers, or just make them completely unblockable with
Key to the City
. I don't have to tell you how good this next card is, but I will anyhow.
Urza, Lord High Artificer
is already a broken card, but it's absolutely bonkers in this deck. He not only makes another artifact scaling creature, but allows all your treasure tokens to tap for without having to sacrifice them, but even more exciting is getting to tap your little Thopters for mana. He is a massive target due to his power level, but if he can stay on the board for even one turn, you can get insane value from his second ability (just beware of the Whiff).
Similar to how Urza allows you to turn all your artifacts into mana production,
Inspiring Statuary
almost feels like it makes all your artifacts tap for colorless. At first it may seem like an odd include for an artifact based deck, but it is actually the perfect place for it. Most of the artifacts that you'll control in a game are tokens made from non-artifact spells, 41 nonartifact cards to be exact. This is perfect for helping to cast
Warp World
early when you have a good board state but don't have the lands or mana rocks you need; we want to avoid sacrificing treasures when at all possible. Another incredible include for this deck is
Perplexing Test
, you will happily choose to return all nontoken creatures since you are mainly focused on producing large amounts of tokens, you get to keep your board and have the opportunity to cast the token producing creatures again for double value. I feel it's a viable budget replacement for
Cyclonic Rift
, although it's much more narrow because it only hits creatures.
One fun trick I'd like to mention is Myr Battlesphere + Mystic Reflection
, you get 5 Battlesphere's and 16 Myr tokens, perfect for a Warp World set up or just tap all those extra Myr on the attack and punch someone in the face for 20 damage. Additionally, Mysic Reflection can double as some pseudo-removal if an opponent casts a creature that is a real threat, it's fun so see an opponent cast their commander but have it enter as a 1/1 Thopter. Another little combo that feels good to pull off is
Marionette Master
+
Brass's Bounty
. Usually when you're casting Brass's Bounty, you have at least 6 lands in play, if you have Marionette Master out with the counters on her, now treasures also just do free damage when you sac them for mana. Even with 6 lands out that is 24 damage, a perfect way to finish someone off or spread the love to end the game when everyone is low on life. This also works well with
Dockside Extortionist
depending on how your opponents battlefields look. Putting the counters on Marionette Master instead of making the servos is usually the best choice in this deck because you're making so many treasure tokens already, and it makes your opponents less likely to swing into you when you have a couple Thopters for blocks, it usually makes me more aggressive with my attacks because people will not block incoming Thopters and just take 1 damage rather than a potential 4 to the face.
So basically I want to make a bunch of treasures and shiny artifacts (I wanna be a billionaire, so f* bad). Then I Warp World with all those treasures and artifact tokens to trick out a generous amount of new permanents (buy all of the things I never had).
