Oh man well I gotta bring up Aegis Turtle again, I love that card and blue also gets you Sidisi's Faithful, Contraband Kingpin, and Deputy of Detention,

But Concealing Curtains  Flip is sweet, and what feels way back in the day I even ran Disowned Ancestor who was okay in board stalls,

God-Pharaoh's Faithful,

Lagonna-Band Trailblazer is cool with stuff like Shape the Sands,

And hear me out, a card that works great with both tower defense and ensnaring bridge is Ornithopter.

Tetsuko Umezawa, Fugitive does as well.

Gilded Goose gets sweet as your mana curve gets lower,

Permeating Mass cracks me up if you focus more on assault formation and High Alert, But ive never gotten around to trying it.

And I guess Brokers Initiate is just a strict upgrade to Yoked Ox with her mana sink?

Arboreal grazer is sweet I'd definitely keep him and some harbingers

And I know it's a non-bo with collected company but I gotta make the obligatory statement about how sweet Lingering Souls is with tower defense,

Though is it too slow nowadays even with bridge? Shit I feel old. At least it can chump a giant murktide for a while

Thanks for commenting, Lord_of_Cardboard!

This deck would do exceptionally well against a Kroxa, Titan of Death's Hunger deck. This is for the same reason that cards like Jace's Archivist do so well in the deck: if you have have Muldrotha on the battlefield, any cards you discard might as well still be in your hand cause you can simply replay them from your graveyard. If anything, an opposing Kroxa player is almost helping you by disrupting your other opponents' hands.

As for a budget version of the deck, here's some advice on budget options and replacements. Just note that this is advice specific to my Muldrotha deck, i.e., advice for the big mana and big X-spell strategy. If you'd rather play a more typical creature-based, swing-to-kill type deck, there may be better Muldrotha lists to look at.

The mana base makes up a large portion of the deck's budget, and I would leave that mostly up to your own discretion. Just keep in mind that fetch lands like Evolving Wilds and slow fetches like Bad River are good for being replayed every turn with Muldrotha. Also, for a budget version of the deck, it's important to run more basics than I do since you'll probably need to fetch more with your ramp. Cycle lands like Lonely Sandbar, Tranquil Thicket, and Barren Moor are fantastic, especially with Life from the Loam. Some other good options:

Which brings me to another point: if I had to pick one somewhat expensive card that's worth putting in a budget Muldrotha deck, it's this one. It's a one-card value engine, giving you card draw, mill, and lands. And depending on what utility lands you choose to run, it can do a whole lot more. And if you're worried about Kroxa in your meta, Life from the Loam is a great counter to it, allowing you to fill your hand with lands to discard.

Now to address key cards for the deck's "big mana" strategy. Important cards for generating a lot of mana include Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth, Cabal Coffers, Dryad of the Ilysian Grove, Crypt Ghast, and Nyxbloom Ancient. You could just replace these cards with normal ramp; casting X-spells for X=10 is still good and easy to accomplish without these cards. If that's unsatisfying for you, you could consider options like Zendikar Resurgent and Mana Reflection. Unfortunately there aren't many great cheap options for producing a lot of mana. This is an important part of the deck though, so it's up to you if it's worth spending some extra money on it.

To avoid this comment being any more lengthy than it already is, here's an extensive list of some budget alternatives for the deck. The great thing about Muldrotha is that being able to replay removal makes a lot of sub-par removal actually pretty good, so it's pretty budget friendly.

Win-Conditions: What's in the deck isn't too expensive, but here's some cheaper options.

If you have any other questions about budget options, let me know. I'm always happy to help!

Thanks all for the feedback out of nowhere! Hope my replies aren't too lengthy for you.

Poseidon31 Cheers for the input! I could definitely cut at least one land there, you're totally right - I've tried to stay out of green to just make it more consistent, and because cards in white and blue are already doing most of the things green could. You're very right in saying though that draw is lacking.. really it's my fault for not making better use of the draw blue offers! Hold the Gate! I mostly use for the vigilence it gives - thought since I'm trying super budget, and gates fit the category I'd try wring as much value out of them as possible. You could well be right though, they may suit better as sideboard pieces. I'll think on it, thanks again.

mikeb388 Omen of the Sea is very tempting indeed! Gives me some nice flexibility and a minor mana sink later - will definitely mull it over! Secretkeeper's very nice, but I just feel other creatures suit the early game better - mill's lovely, but without stronger use of it it feels a little underwhelming!

Breakaway I'd considered Sidisi's Faithful for a while, but ultimately I don't have any ETB triggers; a nice trick occassionally but I don't feel worth sacrificing my defence for. Dusk / Dawn and Slaughter the Strong are fantastic recommendations, will strongly strongly consider them, cheers!

What about Sidisi's Faithful as a 0/4 or bounce spell and Dusk / Dawn or Slaughter the Strong as one-sided board wipes?

Hello swarm intelligence,

I am working on a deck idea i had some weeks ago, a sultai deck using ETBs to control the board using cards like Sidisi's Faithful, Silumgar Sorcerer, Frilled Mystic, Acolyte of Affliction or Reclamation Sage together with Escape Protocol in a cycling shell.

The commander of the deck will be Tasigur, the Golden Fang.

As i have many different ETBs and i want to get as many of them as possible onto the battlefield, i want to include Yisan, the Wanderer Bard, also to be able to use them all at instant speed.

I know this deck will not be played at a competitive level, but i would like to include 1-2 combo lines with Yisan. As i have Tasigur, the Golden Fang, any infitite coloured mana combo would suffice (at least for a win at sorcery speed), one thought of mine was Peregrine Drake and Deadeye Navigator, but i hope you have some other and unique ideas i could include. Preferably, if possible, without any effect targeting a card in a graveyard, because i would like to run Ground Seal as a control piece.

I hope you can breathe some life into this idea of mine, be as creative and convoluted as you please, i am looking forward to it!

With the banning of Smuggler's Copter, I'm going to need to make some adjustments. My current thought is to replace them with Jace, Vryn's Prodigy  Flip, but the reduction in the artifact count means I probably need to replace Glint-nest Crane, as well. Currently considerations are Charming Prince , Vantress Gargoyle , Wall of Lost Thoughts , Chamber Sentry , and Sidisi's Faithful . There's also a lot of creatures, so it's probably worth splashing green for Collected Company and some of the creatures that search for more creatures/lands and dump the rest in the graveyard. Another thing to consider is throwing in Emry, Lurker of the Loch and Mox Amber to enable a theoretical turn 3 combo, but that would require getting really lucky.
