Starsky2814 Thanks again for the upvote on my Omnath deck. I see you are running Mind's Eye vs Seer's Sundial. Do you think Mind's Eye is definitely the way to go, or possibly both? I do like the idea of adding Blade of Selves to mine too.

Crawarc I had a really juicy debate about Mind's Eye vs Seer's Sundial with someone and it came down to the pedantics of efficiency. Both effectively cost 6 to cast including their activation fee, but Mind's Eye costs half as much as Seer's Sundail from that point on. Landfall is also inferior to card draw as theres less ramp cards vs tempo cards in your typical edh deck and the longer the games goes on for, the less triggers you'll get, meanwhile you're sitting on 3 extra cards for 3 mana each turn in most EDH games with Mind's Eye .

Jewishman That's what I came to as well. Now I just have to decide if I should try and run them both, and if I do, then should I leave in Elemental Bond as well...So many options...lol. Whats your take? Thanks for the feedback!

Great deck! But i'm missing a champ: Chandra's Ignition!
Swing with your tokens, cast it afterwards and enjoy your board free of creatures and PWs - except for your great buddy Omnath, Locus of Rage.

Hey starsky can you go over some of the updates?
September 20, 2017 4:39 p.m.
Mycosynthlithium, I would be glad to put a detailed update for you shortly. Is there anything in specific that you'd like me to address?

oliveoilonyaasscureshemorrhoid, I was very intrigued by the 8x8 theory you suggested and decided to make a prototype version with my adaptation of Omnath by using this method. Check it out and let me know what you think.

Starsky2814 No nothing specific just in general, the list of updates. I cloned a previous version of this deck so I have been trying to figure out what was changed. Might play the new one against the old one and see what it does.
I will check out your 8x8 also.

My suggestion to make you the King A$$hole of your group is to play a Green Sun's Zenith + Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger and any enchanment or artifact that gives your creatures hexproof. This combo goes off your opponents will cry when they can't untap their lands.
September 22, 2017 11:44 a.m.
Mycosynthlithium, let me know which deck plays out better.
Balaroth, I use to run both cards in a previous version. I think I cut Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger for Rampaging Baloths for other ways to produce large amounts of tokens, in case Omnath was being shutdown. I cut Green Sun's Zenith for Worldly Tutor to get a turn 2 Lotus Cobra out, so I can get an early turn Omnath.
Crawarc, I would include both Mind's Eye and Seer's Sundial if you have the room for both. The more draw engine cards you have the better for Omnath. I would advise against cutting Elemental Bond, it is such an easy card to abuse draw from with the many elemental tokens being produced.

Hey Starsky, love the build! I've been working on my own budget omnath for a while now, do you think you could give me a few pointers? I know it's hard on a budget, but the deck sometimes can have trouble going off without getting wiped or omnath exiled or something like that.
September 23, 2017 12:28 p.m.
ZM4C, when I first introduced Omnath to my playgroup, it didn't take them long to learn how to disable the deck. So I too had to make the right adjustments to get right back in the game. The first thing I learned was, don't rely on Omnath all the time and have other ways to get there. I know that sounds strange, seeing how the deck is built around Omnath's strengths. But believe me when I say, if you begin to show other threats, your play group will start to second guess using a removal card on Omnath and will allow you to start casting him again. My approach is hit them fast and hard before my opponents can react. This is why my build has no use for removal spells. I plan to win turn 4-7. Heavy amounts of draw engines, ramp, sac outlets and haste enablers, will make you a threat again. I'll give you some recommendations that I believe could be impactful on your page.
Good luck, fam!

This is the sort of thing I was going for in my Omnath deck. Alas, budget keeps mine about two turns behind this one for speed.

Question: why aren't you running land destruction that breaks parity? Omnath is cool as a beat down general, sure, but if you want to be King A$$hole, I think that MLD a la Wildfire, Ruination, Blood Moon, and many more should be your focal points. If you slant your deck to have a higher than average basic land count, you can start to utilize Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle as a win condition and control card, along with Splendid Reclamation & Crucible of Worlds to support your own reconstruction. Obviously this strategy needs a lot more control elements and stax elements in order to be competitive, but I've found it to be very successful at beating relatively fast decks. Turn 3-5 is usually when I fire off a massive land destruction spell that sets my opponents back considerably. Shout out to Wave of Vitriol for it's brutal efficiency in more competitive metas.

Although, I suppose on further inspection and reading, we simply have fundamentally different approaches to an Omnath deck. I like this build, I don't think I'd enjoy it as much as mine, because I love crushing the life from my opponents slowly.
But here's my list: Omnath, Locus of LD [[EDH]], quite a bit different, philosophically, but I'd be interested to hear your thoughts.

FWIW starsky, I should have some time the next couple of days to finally run tests on this deck and the 8x8 deck. I decided that rather than have the older version of this deck fighting the newer I will run the 8x8 vs this instead, I think that will be a more efficient use of time.
I will post the test results with turns included.

Ashnod's Altar is an awesome sac outlet and combo piece

Perpetual, your Omnath deck looks devastating even for a budget build. I like your heavy creature approach. Looks good +1 from me. Keep up the good work!
Broboaticus, thanks for the suggestion of land destruction. LD was an idea I looked into before the construction of the deck. Unfortunately, it just didn't make the final cut. On another note, within my playgroup we have an unwritten rule of no abusing land hate. A player within our group did LD in his Wort, the Raidmother deck. Long story short, he got to play it once and succeed. When he played it again afterwards, everyone pulled out their most controlling decks and targeted him out of every game he played with it. He dismantled the deck shortly after. LD, awesome concept. Just not within my playgroup.
Mycosynthlithium, I'm actually really excited for your play testing. I wonder which build will come on top. I can't wait for you to post results. Thank you so much for taking the time to do so!
Sharky-Prodiver, very interesting combo! It definitely is a very efficient way to get all those landfall triggers. I'll give the two a try in my casual Omnath deck and see if they will earn a place in this build.Ashnod's Altar, also suggested by feyn_do_alduin, was replaced by Phyrexian Altar. I made a lot more use of the one of any color mana compared to the two colorless. So I made the switch.

Nice deck! Omnath players unite! I looked for another approach and tried to fit in some neat infinite combos besides other stuff. Maybe you wanna have a look at it? Wrath of Nature - Infinite Combo Edition

The way you describe your playgroup, and the list of commanders of your playgroup and who you're playing... Do you happen to go to Good Games in Chatswood?

So I started testing. Only managed two games so far. Results were...interesting.It took both decks a bit longer than I expected to get going, turn 6-7. The "age of explosions" deck won very narrowly on the first game the second game was inconclusive.
I'll get back with more later.

+1, cool deck.
I was playing Burgeoning in my Omnath deck but found it was only good very early game. Ideally you should be playing spells that put land directly onto the battlefield so late game Burgeoning is totally dead.
Ashnod's Altar is another great sacrifice outlet.
Check it out my Omnath, Locus of Rage deck for some ideas. I have managed to win nearly every multiplayer game I have played with it.

Have you been able to get many games in using Growing Rites of Itlimoc Flip? Since I have a Cradle, I'm wondering if it adds anything to the deck since cradle is more easily tutored for and can be recurred with ramunap excavator and crucible in case something happens.

Here's the deck me and my buddy built. I play it in my play group and it's does really well and becomes a threat quickly.
