Board the Weatherlight!

Sisay, Weatherlight Captain is a Legendary Creature from Modern Horizons, which gets +1/+1 for each other color among other legendary permanents you control. It also has an activated ability that costs that lets you search your library for a legendary permanent card with CMC less than Sisay’s power and put it onto the battlefield.

This is a very adaptive deck that can quickly and efficiently change gameplans depending on what is going on in the game. The main win cons in the deck are Jace, Wielder of Mysteries + Demonic Consultation or Godo, Bandit Warlord + Helm of the Host

Sisay differs from other Consultation decks in its ability to quickly move from plan A to B. Because our general is a Legend tutor on a stick, we are able to shift our gameplans accordingly easily. When we spend our early game moving towards a Consult win if that gets disrupted, it is not difficult at all to switch over to the Godo line. This is an adaptive quality that really sets our deck apart and allows us to break parity comfortably.
The gameplan for this deck is fairly simple; resolve a Sisay and began to use Sisay to construct our win.

Gameplan 1: Jace, Wielder of Mysteries + Demonic Consultation

Gameplan 2: Godo, Bandit Warlord + Helm of the Host

Opening hands usually want to see ramp that will allow us to get Sisay out quickly (and safely). Tutoring is very situationally dependent since what line we take in the game depends on how the game goes down.

Hand 1

Avacyn's Pilgrim, Counterspell, Verdant Catacombs, Savannah, Delay, Faeburrow Elder, & Lim-Dul's Vault

Keep This is is a surprisingly great hand. Early ramp that gets us to a turn two Sisay, Counterspell backup, and LDV lets us really shape what we want our game to look like. Elder is actually a really strong card right here. 9x/10

Hand 2

Swords to Plowshares, Arcane Signet, Scalding Tarn, Ad Nauseam, Swan Song, Rhystic Study, and Necropotence

Mulligan This hand is no good. No early ramp into Sisay or much of anything else. Don’t keep this one. 0/10

Hand 3

Forest, Wild Growth, Marsh Flats, Gitaxian Probe, Mana Confluence, Ponder, and Overgrown Tomb

Toss-Up This hand could go either way, but definitely has some upside. It ramps into Sisay, has some card draw/selection, and lets you get access to some opponent information. Not the best opening hand, but at the right table it could be alright. 6/10

Hand 4

Oath of Nissa, City of Brass, Kataki, War's Wage. Savannah, Disepl, Sol Ring, and Faeburrow Elder

Keep This hand is actually pretty great. I would go Turn 1 Savannah -> Sol Ring. Turn 2 play City of Brass, Sisay, and then Oath of Nissa. Right away Sisay will be a 3/3 and will give you a quick way to build up fast. 7/10

Hand 5

Cyclonic Rift, Volcanic Island, Windswept Heath, Tainted Pact, Mox Diamond, Bayou, and Sol Ring

Keep Hey look! A Turn 1 Sisay hand! This hand looks to shape up real nicely. Definitely keep this! 7/10

Coming Soon
Most of the cards in the maybe-board are cards that are certainly good, but just slightly didn’t make the cut for one reason or the other.

-Angel's Grace: I want to find a spot for this mostly because of deck’s like Sushi Hulk.

-Force of Negation: If you are looking for another free counterspell this one is worth considering. I am just not sure what I would play it over.

-Oath of Chandra: This is good against Najeela and is just a good removal spell overall. It is a good removal spell coming off a Sisay activation. Again I am not sure what I would play it over, but is certainly worth looking at. -Vendilion Clique: I keep running into this common theme of liking a card, but not sure what I would play it over. I could make an argument for this over Sygg, BUT Sygg is 2 mana and gets us both a Black and Blue color pip.

-Wrenn and Six: I had this in originally, but eventually cut it for Lazav. It’s good in a grindy game but usually gets a lot of board hate really quickly. I like it but I am not sure what I would play it over.

I want to make sure to thank both Fenix15 for helping me improve and refine this deck over time. Both of them are incredible deck builders, players, and people!

Updates Add

Currently testing Lazav, the Multifarious over Wrenn and Six. W6 has felt very underwhelming and Lazav can get us extra value off of creatures as well as copy Godo if the need arises.

Also through testing Helm of the Host is good on a lot of our creatures. Don’t underestimate that card equipped on Venser.
