"Can I offer you an egg in this trying time?"

This is my twist on C19's Primal Genesis. When I first read Atla Palani's ability, I hatched a sickly idea of throwing huge creatures on the field free of charge and swinging for lethal as early as possible. The main goal is to cast Atla Palani early and keep her in play as long as possible to keep popping out those eggs. Then, with staples like Blasting Station, Skullclamp, and Goblin Bombardment, you cycle through eggs that rapidly evolve into a whole mess of wurms, eldrazi, dinosaurs, and who knows what else you'll find! If you find yourself lucky enough to have Atla Palani equipped with Thornbite Staff while Ashnod's Altar is on the field, why not just put every creature in your library on the field for free? Creatures are supported by an array of cards that provide haste, trample, indestructible, etc. and many of them generate tokens which can be populated into oblivion (you can also populate your eggs!). "Swing big, swing often" is the motto of this deck, especially if you egg-sac into Aurelia, the Warleader with haste and get an extra round of combat. Your biggest threats will be removal targeting Atla Palani, as you may struggle without her, as well as boardwipes. If the wipes involve destruction, you may scrape by with Avacyn, Angel of Hope, Flawless Maneuver, or a well-timed Boros Charm; however, an overloaded Cyclonic Rift may prove to completely eliminate your ambitions. A quick addition to the deck is Teferi's Protection as it would save you from literally anything that might shut it down, but I haven't had an opportunity to grab one.

Please feel free to leave comments or suggested modifications as I'm always eager to see other people's ideas!

Edits made 08/30/2020 (Realized egg tutoring into Haste may be nice):

Cut Adaptive Snapjaw, Add Samut, Voice of Dissent

Cut Desolation Twin, Add Urabrask the Hidden

Cut Vorstclaw, Add Purphoros, Bronze-Blooded

Intended edits to make shortly:

  1. Blasphemous Act for a large-scale board wipe that would trigger all of the eggs!

  2. Fumigate for a large-scale board wipe that would trigger all of the eggs (and give some life)!

  3. Hoarding Dragon is a little gem that basically tutors a combo-piece, i.e. Thornbite Staff, Ashnod's Altar, or Runed Stalactite

  4. Kodama's Reach to increase the odds of having mana ramp cards in the opening hand or early game, plus it pads the hand with another land drop

  5. Mirror Entity makes other tokens (4/4 Rhino, 5/5 Wurm, etc.) into eggs

  6. Nesting Dragon because EGGS are Atla Palani's favorite meal for breakfast, lunch, and dinner

  7. Nature's Chant to provide targeted artifact/enchantment removal alongside Sundering Growth (may even add one more similar spell)

  8. Purphoros, God of the Forge for combo-killing when you get a cycle-able creature like Worldspine Wurm

  9. Rampant Growth to increase the odds of having mana ramp cards in the opening hand or early game

  10. Reliquary Tower because it has more value than the other colorless land Grove of the Guardian and protects against over-drawing

  11. Runed Stalactite makes other tokens (4/4 Rhino, 5/5 Wurm, etc.) into eggs and couples with Ashnod's Altar

  12. Search for Tomorrow for mana ramp that could be suspended turn 1 from the opening hand when not much else is going on around the table

  13. Seedborn Muse because untapping all permanents on each other players turn is just too powerful to pass up when you have a lot of valuable tap abilities

  14. Swiftfoot Boots to nearly mimic the effect of Lightning Greaves and really just increase the odds of having one in the opening hand

  15. Thousand-Year Elixir to provide "ability-haste" and a convenient 1 mana untap engine to abuse some of the better tap abilities in the deck

  16. Harmonize for card draw because what good are combo pieces if they aren't in your hand or on the battlefield

  17. Rishkar's Expertise for card draw and possibly even adding a combo piece, or at least a decent creature, to the battlefield for free

  18. Shamanic Revelation for card draw because what good are combo pieces if they aren't in your hand or on the battlefield

  19. Soul's Majesty for card draw because what good are combo pieces if they aren't in your hand or on the battlefield

  20. Grow from the Ashes for mana ramp that if drawn into after a couple turns are saved from the opening hand may double its ability

  21. Austere Command for targeted boardwipes (if that makes any sense) - it's a boardwipe, but very versatile to what is needed at a given time

  22. Divine Reckoning for a board wipe that preserves one creature, probably Atla Palani, Nest Tender in our case, plus flashback is nice

  23. Pyroblast because Cyclonic Rift could be deadly to this deck; however, this card will likely have a side board alternative when not playing against blue

  24. Red Elemental Blast because Cyclonic Rift could be deadly to this deck; however, this card will likely have a side board alternative when not playing against blue

I really want to add Teferi's Protection for obvious reasons, but I have to actually feel like paying for it first... in the meantime, I've reserved spots to counter blue with Pyroblast and Red Elemental Blast because blue with cards like Cyclonic Rift will likely be the biggest threat to setting up a cohesive strategy with this build

Either of the Eldrazi titans would work well for other cycle-creatures, but they're all quite pricey. However, some budget alternatives include Alabaster Dragon, Hostility, Purity, Serra Avatar, and Vigor - I'll add at least one of them, maybe more depending on how many other cards I fell like I could cut from the current decklist.

Likely cuts to make room are:

  1. Vulpine Goliath

  2. Dictate of Heliod

  3. Collective Blessing

  4. Giant Adephage

  5. Herald of the Host

  6. Selesnya Charm

  7. Purphoros, Bronze-Blooded

  8. Fresh Meat

  9. Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger

  10. Risen Sanctuary

  11. Duskdale Wurm

  12. Mimic Vat

  13. Verdant Haven

  14. Rancor

  15. Grove of the Guardian

  16. Naya Charm

  17. Rhythm of the Wild

  18. Marisi, Breaker of the Coil

  19. Pathbreaker Wurm

  20. Rampaging Baloths

  21. Titanic Ultimatum

  22. Ghired, Conclave Exile

  23. Dragonmaster Outcast

  24. Ilysian Caryatid

Will probably also need to revisit the land distribution and re-balance after making all of these edits.
