Sideboard

An elegant yet aggressive midrange Control deck without a combo finish that grids out value overtime.

Strengths: - Trades Efficiently - Has a relatively fast clock - Good against a lot of Meta Decks - Has a lot of flex slot

Weakness: - Doesn’t have a reliable wincon - Slow - Reliant on ‘countermagic’ based interaction - Mana Heavy

At its core AAM is a Control deck, that trades resources efficiently by utilizing Vial Smasher the Fierce ability to widdle down your opponents life and Kraum, Ludevic's Opus as a clock.

Unfortunately due to the multiplayer nature of EDH; a 1 for 1 trade is never favorable, thus the deck requires a little bit more adaptation; making this a perfect deck for players who wants to challenge themselves.

This is done by including a Notion Thief shenanigans package; backed up by the Pauper approved Mystical Teachings Engine.

Mystical Teachings - - Instant

Search your library for an instant card or a card with flash, reveal it, and put it into your hand. Then shuffle your library.

Flashback (You may cast this card from your graveyard for its flashback cost. Then exile it.)

------------

Mystical Teachings a fan favorite for the pauper format; a tutor that is both flexible and powerful. Mystical Teachings is one of the core element of the deck; being able to tutor most of the type of interaction in your deck.

Due to its raw power & flexibility; Mystical Teachings is able solves most of your problem without ever giving up tempo. Being an instant with a high CMC Mystical Teachings works well with Vial Smasher the Fierce as it add an extra 4 damage burn to an unsuspecting opponent.

Being is able to tutor your draw spell; combo piece and removal makes this card a perfect addition to any deck.

What can I tutor with It?

I feel like I need some Removal: Kolaghan's Command, Into the Roil, Cyclonic Rift

Hmm..I wanna counter that: Force of Negation & Mana Drain

I want Some Draw: Pull from Tomorrow & Fact or Fiction

I need some Blockers: Torrential Gearhulk & Stunt Double

I need some Time: Cyclonic Rift & Nexus of Fate

Midrange Control & Smack Face

Establishing a solid draw engine by resolving a defensive Kraum, Ludevic's Opus and Rhystic Study is a great game plan around stax and control decks. these engine lets you to trade your countermagic and removal more efficiently while setting you up your combo. Once the board is stabilized try and resolve and protect your Vial Smasher the Fierce and shift your Kraum, Ludevic's Opus to a damage dealing/beatface engine.

Notion Wheel

Slam a fast EOT Notion Thief followed by any Wheel effect to strip down your opponents hand; stunning them into a top-deckin situation. After resolving this combo; it is always good to take an extra turn and dropping all your mana accelerator and start chaining the extra turn spell with all your available tutors, Or just sculpt your hand accordingly and grind it out.

Forbidden Turns

By holding priority when casting Nexus of Fate; you can exile your whole library with Demonic Consultation turning it into an infinite turn loop. This in addition with Vial Smasher the Fierce or Kraum, Ludevic's Opus will win you the game.

I took out this combo because it's too risky, might add it in again later

From what I have experienced; adding a singular Equipment in the decklist increases my chances of sealing the game via combat damage. All the Sword of X and X help Kraum, Ludevic's Opus push for a commander damage win; turning it from a 6 hit kill clock to an easy 4 hit kill clock while giving you incremental advantage!

Sword of Fire and Ice - Good in a Blue Heavy/Counter Heavy meta. It helps you push for extra damage while maintaining card advantage and it helps by wiping down small ground blockers.

Sword of War and Peace - Good in a Midrange matchup; it pushes more damage than any other sword while maintaining your life total

Sword of Sinew and Steel - Are you in a artifact/planeswalker heavy meta? This is the sword for you
