Introduction

The Goal in Mind

I wanted to create a semi-budget friendly deck with meaningful win conditions and interactions that could be played casually but would not be entirely blown out by an "optimized" deck in the pod. Zedruu the Greathearted has been in my sights for a while as a fun commander so this is my take on a deck list for her.

In my opinion, I feel Zedruu players make a mistake by attempting to play a piece of hate that shuts ourselves down until we can use her ability to donate it. Those pieces tend to be too great of a mana cost, clunky at best to actually donate to our opponent, and usually paint a large target on our commander.

In my variant, I focus on building a pillow-fort to create our own safe space while we attempt to assemble our win-con(s). We enable Zedruu's draw mechanic by donating permanents that don't effect a single individual but instead effect the table equally (such as Rest in Peace), donating lands (gasp!), or by donating our own enchantment removal.

Win Condition's

Main Win Condition:

• Mind Over Matter + Temple Bell . As long as we have 1 card in hand, this combo works. Preferably, you'll discard Nexus of Fate to it in order to shuffle it back into the deck, rinse and repeat. Nexus dodges any exile effects from the graveyard so it's able to be discarded even with Rest in Peace in play.

Secondary Win Condition's:

• Approach of the Second Sun is self explanatory.

• Assemble the Legion, Luminarch Ascension, and Dawn of Hope for token beat downs.
