Needs the black tutors. Given the number of black decks I have built, these are about to become my number one priority. I acquired these recently for a cEDH Grimgrin, Corpse-Born combo deck. I haven't added any of them to Edgar yet to keep consistency down. I'm already on the high end of power level in what others in my play group can handle. I'll probably cut Enlightened Tutor for Vampiric Tutor entirely for flavor reasons.

Basically, this is a low mana curve aristocrats build. The mana curve could be lower of course, but this is a) tuned a bit more towards midrange than usual and b) for a a more casual play group.

Deck has 2 main strategies, either a) play a bunch of vampires and smash face or b) play a bunch of vampires and sac them to drain your opponents. Which strategy you go with in any given game is going to depend on what cards you happen to draw. Infinite combos were intentionally left out.

Asylum Visitor has been cut, as I was never getting the card draw off of it. Metalic Mimic wasn't impactful enough and was also cut. It also had the down side of putting all the free Edgar tokens outside of range for Skullclamp, which was problematic at times. I'm cutting out Necropotence to reduce the power level and consistency of the deck. I was digging 20+ cards deep and stealing games I had no business winning far too often and my play group was starting to get annoyed with it. Smothering Abomination will be taking its place for the time being.

Crypt of Agadeem was cut for the much more powerful Cabal Coffers. Expedition Map was added to help find the Urborg Tomb of Yawgmoth + Cabal Coffers combo wombo

Mathas, Fiend Hunter is back in. a 3cmc 3/3 with menace is also pretty good. Life gain and card draw on a group hug that people will be hesitant to remove if you play it well is gravy.

  • Falkenrath Gorger red on turn 1 is problematic. no real way to activate madness

  • Asylum Visitor 3/1 for 2 isn't bad, but getting the card is kind of tough to activate and there are better ways to do it. Chopped

  • Bloodcrazed Paladin cute, but not really all that competitive. Chopped

  • Oathsworn Vampire cute, but not sure i have enough life gain to activate it reliably. Life gain has been reliable enough to trigger this guy quite often. Love that it's a CAST trigger, which gets us the Edgar token.

  • Sangromancer I want to try this out with the aristocrats theme, but i'm not sure it's worth it

  • Bishop of Rebirth probably too slow. giving it a shot for tribal synergies. For all of you screaming that Sun Titan is better, I'm not going to argue with you. Sun titan is also not a vampire, and therefore not fetchable with Forerunner of the Legion. I want to test this card. This was been way better than I thought it would be. The Bishop + Legion + any sac outlet synergy is fantastic.

  • Malakir Bloodwitch does not work well with aristocrats theme. Will likely be chopping this guy on the 10th for Blood Tracker.

  • Blade of the Bloodchief arguably too slow. But its the BLADE, in an aristocrats deck no less

  • Dreadbore cheap and flexible, but sorcery speed and sort of necessary in my group. we'll have to see

  • Return to Dust expensive, but flexible and possibly multi-target
