Cost reduction through the commander, Animar, Soul of Elements , leads to an increasingly rapid casting of creature spells and the eventual free (or significantly reduced) Eldrazi drops supplemented by a fair amount of token generation.

As far as enchantments go, an early Doubling Season does wonders for Animar, as well as any tokens that come in. Forced Adaptation is great early game as well, costing only one {G} and guaranteeing a +1/+1 counter for Animar each turn regardless of whether you have any creatures or not. An early Lurking Predators can get the board big fast if not removed (I once won a game on turn six with a Lurking Predators proc into a Kozilek, Butcher of Truth , how about that topdeck). And finally a Temur Ascendency can speed up your game with the Haste and card draw.

Kiora, the Crashing Wave can be amazing early game by locking down your opponents early creatures with her +1 and (if you drop her turn 4/5) then you can be getting free 9/9 Kraken Tokens each turn by turn 8/9. Domri Rade can help pump up Animar with his +1 by increasing your creature draw, his -2 can provide some creature removal, and his -7 is an obvious game winner with some of the big creatures this deck is capable of dropping.

During playtesting I found that, with the cost reduction from Animar, I was dumping the majority of my hand quickly (dropping cheaper creatures to pump up Animar, holding only counterspells in my hand) and running out of steam. I therefore had to add some card draw through, Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind , Arcanis the Omnipotent , Archivist , Consecrated Sphinx , Mercurial Chemister , Shaman of the Great Hunt , and Temur Ascendancy . Plus, when the card draw is coupled with Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind on the field, you are dealing direct damage to your opponent (which quickly adds up).

Combos include:

Animar, Soul of Elements + Forced Adaptation

Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind and card draw from Arcanis the Omnipotent ~ Archivist ~ Temur Ascendancy ~ Consecrated Sphinx ~ Mercurial Chemister ~ Shaman of the Great Hunt

Animar, Soul of Elements + Vorel of the Hull Clade

Animar, Soul of Elements + Glitterfang

Glitterfang + Purphoros, God of the Forge

Animar, Soul of Elements + Savageborn Hydra

Purphoros, God of the Forge with Krenko, Mob Boss or any of the other Token generators.

Infinite Combo, Ancestral Statue + Animar, Soul of Elements with Purphoros, God of the Forge or Impact Tremors

And the obvious: Animar, Soul of Elements and all colorless creatures

Any suggestions or tips would be much appreciated.
