Welcome, and thanks for stopping by. This is the latest commander deck I put together, based on artifacts and some tricky combos. There are a few wincons, and some deterrents specially designed to keep the opponent at bay while you work your magic. I haven't tested this deck in multiplayer matches yet (hopefully soon!), but I think it can do well in those situations as well. So, are you ready to build the machine? Lets take a closer look, shall we?
Strategies
As I mentioned before, this deck runs on some combos. I'll list them here -
Infinite Colorless Mana
Basalt Monolith + Rings of Brighthearth = Infinite colorless Mana
- Once both of these artifacts are on the field, you will need 5 mana available to get things going. First, pay the cost to untap Basalt Monolith, then tap it for 3 mana. Activate the Rings of Brighthearth to copy that activated ability, producing another 3 mana. At this point, you can use the three mana generated from the rings to untap Basalt Monolith again, then tap it again for another 3 mana, and then pay the ring's activation cost to copy the ability again, producing 3 more mana. In this way, you will always have 1 extra mana generated that increases with each loop.
Alternate Infinite Colorless Mana
Power Artifact + Basalt Monolith = Infinite colorless mana
- The method here is to reduce the activation cost of untapping Basalt Monolith by having Power Artifact out there. When both of these are on the field, it will cost only 1 mana to untap the monolith, but you will be generating 3 mana with every tap. Very useful!
Infinite Mana of Any Color
Rings of Brighthearth + Basalt Monolith + Mox Opal + Voltaic Key = Infinite mana of any color.
- This is an improvement upon the original formula for endless mana. By adding Voltaic Key and Mox Opal to the mix, you can repeatedly copy Voltaic Key's activation ability with the Rings of Brighthearth to keep untapping the Mox Opal, granting any endless supply of mana in any color.
Infinite Myr Tokens and Infinite Direct Damage
Infinite Mana + Myr Matrix + Myr Battlesphere = Infinite Myr creature tokens and infinite damage assigned to an opponent during the attack phase.
More Infinite Creature Tokens
Infinite Mana + Rings of Brighthearth + one of the following...
Nuisance Engine + Voltaic Key = Infinite Pest tokens
Myr Matrix = Infinite Myr tokens
Myr Turbine + Voltaic Key = Alternate infinite Myr tokens
Infinite +1/+1 Counters On Your Artifact Creatures
Infinite Mana + Rings of Brighthearth + Steel Overseer + Voltaic Key = Endlesss +1/+1 counters can be placed on your creatures.
- Use Steel Overseer to put the counters down, then Rings of Brighthearth to copy that ability. Now use Voltaic key to untap Steel Overseer, then use the Rings of Brighthearth again to copy the untap, and use it to untap the Voltaic key as well. Rinse and repeat.
Infinite Charge Counters For Artifacts
Infinite Mana + Rings of Brighthearth + Coretapper + Voltaic Key = Infinite Charge Counters for your artifacts.
Infinite Card Draw
Infinite Mana + Rings of Brighthearth + Sensei's Divining Top
- You can also use the rings of brighthearth to repeatedly copy Sensei's divining top, activating each copy before putting the top on top of your library. You can do this because of the wording on the card, which reads "Draw a card, THEN put Sensei's Divining Top on top of it's owner's library". All you have to do is activate the rings before the "Then" part of the top resolves.
Large Health Boost and Free Artifact Fetch Every Turn
Filigree Angel + Arcum Dagsson + Hanna, Ship's Navigator = Large health boost each turn and free artifact fetch.
To do this, have the Filigree Angel enter the field, and use it's ability to gain life for each artifact you control. Then, have Arcum sacrifice it to search for another artifact you might need. Use Hanna to get the Filigree Angel back into your hand, and if you have the mana, cast it again for another large health boost. This can be repeated next turn when Arcum and Hanna untap =)
An alternate strategy is to sacrifice Wurmcoil Engine, resulting in two 3/3 tokens and an artifact fetch, plus having the wurmcoil returned to your hand with Hanna.
Cheap Artifact Search and Drop
Nuisance Engine (or Myr Turbine) + Arcum Dagsson = Search your library for any non-creature artifact and put it on the battlefield for 2 or less mana.
Gain Control of All Permanents
Infinite Mana + Rings of Brighthearth + Mox Opal + Voltaic Key + Memnarch
The trick here is to use your infinite mana to power Rings of Brighthearth. Have Mox Opal continuously tap for blue mana, and use Voltaic Key to keep untapping it. Rings of Brighthearth must then be activated to copy the untap ability, so you can untap Voltaic Key to be used again. In this way, you can produce the mana you need to make full use of Memnarch and gain control of the board.
A word of caution. Once the opponent knows you have endless mana, when they see Memnarch drop they will immediately suspect what is coming. Try to have Darksteel Forge or Avacyn, Angel of Hope dropped before then. A divinity counter from That Which Was Taken will also do the trick.

Closing Word
Well, that's it for my artifact deck. What'dya think? I tried to keep things orderly and fun, with a central theme on artifacts. I included the Sen Triplets more as a fun choice rather then using Sharuum, the Hegemon, even though the latter might be better as commander for this deck.
I included some cards that I thought would be useful in the sideboard. Scourglass very nearly made the cut for main deck, but I figured I'd leave it out because I didn't want to have people refuse to play against me with this deck. Scourglass is that hated in multiplayer matches, believe it or not. But if you want to use it, play Master Transmuter first. Then on your following upkeep, play her ability and then drop Scourglass before the end of your upkeep step. The opponents will (probably) never see it coming! At least not on the first time!
