Ravenous Demon

Creature — Demon

Sacrifice a Human: Transform Ravenous Demon. Activate this ability only at any time you could cast a sorcery.

I took out Ravenous Demon  Flip, Scroll of Griselbrand, and Smoldering Crater, and added in Manaforge Cinder, Rakdos Cackler, and Footlight Fiend. I think this will improve the deck. Thanks for the advice!

The Ravenous Demon  Flip is back! I never ended up casting the Reckless Stormseeker  Flip but my play group reminded me, if I did cast it, we would need to track Day/Night for the rest of the game even if the Storm Seeker died right away and no one else was playing any Day/Night cards. I have a hard enough time remembering all my triggers without worrying about what is likely to be a mostly irrelevant mechanic so I kicked it to the curb.

Have a Similar Demon worship/human sacrifice with some extra synergies. Basically, it generates small tokens to feed the demons, but also generates huge flyers. Starting with 2x Ravenous Demon  Flip and 3x Demon of Catastrophes, cheap and lethal, just because you can get short of tokens. 2 copies of Rite of Belzenlok, wich generates creatures to sacrifice and at the third turn since you cast cast it, generates a huge flying 6/6 Demon token with trample. My main token generator creatures are 4 copies of Doomed Traveler and 2 copies of Thraben Doomsayer. I use 2x Skirsdag Flayer as a crature removal wich at the same time triggers Skirsdag High Priest ability (4 copies). Which is great. Tokens generators spells:3x Lingering Souls, 4x Gather the Townsfolk, 2xPromise of Bunrei, 1x Increasing Devotion. Some more synergies: 2 copies of Teysa Karlov, witch doubles tokens when Doomed Traveler dies, also giving vigilance and lifelink to ALL you tokens, including the demons generated from Rite of Belzenlok and Skirsdag High Priest, which is pretty solid. The rest of the Deck includes removals: 2x Bone Splinters, 4x Mortify. 2x Altar's Reap also feed the Sacrifice/Trigger mechanism giving extra cards. 2x Westvale Abbey  Flip for flavour and, of course, a 9/9 flying, lifelink, Indestructible hasted finisher!

TrixStar In my opinion this is one the best precon decks for beginners ever made, it's fun to play even for an experienced player. It does work well in a really casual environment, it is not meast in any way to be a competitive deck. If you like to manange your own resources and sacrifice your own creature to get value this is the deck for you. A good addition and on theme with the whole deck would be Ravenous Demon  Flip

You can, if you like, create custom sort categories by adding a # in your edit list (eg. "1x City of Brass #Land") and then setting >Edit >Default category >Custom

Don't forget Thraximundar and Warstorm Surge ...

Here are some houses:

Bloodtracker ... must have imo

Herald of Secret Streams ... where'd this go?

Dack's Duplicate ... +1/+1 clone

Spark Double ... +1/+1 clone

Viscera Seer ... tier 1 version of Carrion Feeder

Mulldrifter ... if is too much then play this

Treasonous Ogre ... seems good

Harvester of Souls ... + Damnation ?

Reef Worm ... endless worms

Spawning Pit ... you can sacrifice the Spawn tokens to recoup 1/2 the value if they're wiped

Drana, Liberator of Malakir ... yes... anything that lets you ignore the throne is amazing

Yahenni, Undying Partisan ... it never leaves the board so expect 10+/10+

Toothy, Imaginary Friend ... yes

Midnight Reaper ... yes

Burnished Hart ... do not underestimate this

Goblin Bombardment ... yes

You could also try playing some big beefs that are wipe oriented like...

Ogre Slumlord

Overseer of the Damned

Ob Nixilis, Unshackled

Revel in Riches

If you count Merciless Executioner , Innocent Blood , etc, with wipes like Damnation , etc, you have 12 wipes and 5 removal... which is probably too much control.

To play aggressively, Marchesa needs evasive creatures with double strike ...or maybe even...

Core Prowler ... maybe

Flesh-Eater Imp ... I have one, you should try it out

Grafted Exoskeleton ... sacrifice might be nice

Viral Drake ... proliferating your +1/+1 counters would be pretty sweet

...Keep in mind Infect replaces damage so either make it a core theme or only play the ones that can get to 10 Infect quickly.

Demons would also be pretty sweet:

Archfiend of Depravity ... wipe

Defiler of Souls ... make them sacrifice

Demon of Wailing Agonies ... make them sacrifice

Havoc Demon ... wipe

Indulgent Tormentor ... another Bloodgift Demon

Kothophed, Soul Hoarder ... draw to get off the throne?

Krav, the Unredeemed ... seems good

Lord of the Void ... betrayal

Malfegor ... wipe?

Rakdos, the Showstopper ... wipe

Ravenous Demon  Flip... sacrifice Marchesa or take the 9 to get off the throne?

Reaper from the Abyss ... removal

Rune-Scarred Demon ... tutor

Silent-Blade Oni ... betrayal

Liliana's Contract ... hilarous

AlexHeinrichs on Human Sacrifice (Need Help Improving!)

I remember playing something like this when I first got into magic back in Innistrad, so i think I can help you out.

I don't know how competitive you want to make this so i'll just try to improve the list based on your strategy and won't change the theme of the deck. First things first, let's trim your list a bit, you have a bunch of 2 and 3-ofs instead of playsets of the stuff you really want (4x Doomed Traveler, 4x Lingering Souls, 4x Demonic Taskmaster).

Second, I would cut the stuff that has synergy with the deck but don't really help you win the game (Unruly Mob, Thraben Doomsayer) and things that are way too expensive. Ravenous Demon  Flip is sweet but not so much when you have 3 of them in your hand along with some Reaper from the Abyss. So I would cut reaper completely, cut Ravenous Demon  Flip to 2 at most, and cut Increasing Devotion (5/10 mana is too much).

Now we start upgrading some things. For 1-drops, we just got a good one in guilds of ravnica for this style of deck in Hunted Witness, so I would definitely play that alongside Doomed Traveler. Demonlord of Ashmouth is really good in a deck like this, and he's the demon I would likely run instead of the 5 and 6 mana ones.

Lastly, we need interaction. Orzhov Charm is a good choice, you can use it as removal, to save one of your demons or bring back one of your 1-drops for extra fodder. Tragic Slip is a great removal option here, since you're saccing your own stuff all the time it's basically a 1 mana Murder. I probably wouldn't even play card draw in this deck, but if you want to play it go with Altar's Reap, its instant speed and can help trigger morbid for slip and high priest.

I know your manabase is super budget but i would highly recommend Caves of Koilos, it's dirt cheap and it's gonna help a ton.

I'd play something like this: 4 Hunted Witness, 4x Doomed Traveler, 3x Skirsdag High Priest, 4x Demonic Taskmaster, 2x Xathrid Necromancer, 4x Demonlord of Ashmouth 4x Gather the Townsfolk, 4x Lingering Souls, 4x Orzhov Charm, 4x Tragic Slip 7x Plains, 4x Scoured Barrens, 8x Swamp, 4x Caves of Koilos.

Combo: T1 Doomed Traveler (or Hunted Witness), T2 Skirsdag High Priest, T3 Demonic Taskmaster, T4 sac Doomed Traveler to Demonic Taskmaster to trigger morbid, tap the token, taskmaster and high priest to make a 5/5 demon!

That's it, i hope it helps!

My main concern of the deck is the "competitive" tag. That tag would imply this deck is a fully optimized, competitive list, able to see play against the best decks of the format, and still have a decent winrate.

This list, from what I see, is not able to accomplish this.

I honestly do not know what this deck is trying to do, as there was not a primer for it, nor an explanation, but I will look and see, If I am wrong in my analysis, please correct me, and I will apologize promptly if I am mistaken entirely.

It looks like a Shadowborn Apostle deck, that is using the apostles to cheat out few choice demons, of which there are 7 total, out of them Demon of Death's Gate and Ravenous Demon  Flip are simply large beatsticks, and so are basically useless for a cEDH deck, Indulgent Tormentor is the same unless you team with an opponent, and Rune-Scarred Demon is a Demonic Tutor on a stick. Ob Nixilis, Unshackled is a big hate-on search, but the 10 life and sacrifice a creature should barely hurt a player unless they are paradox combo with Captain Sisay or Arcum Dagsson, and so they use a Swords to Plowshares on it or Pongify and then combo off. Harvester of Souls is decent card draw, and Razaketh, the Foulblooded is actual tutoring.

What can you tutor for or draw to win? Not much I am afraid you only have 6 removal spells, and they aren't very good for these colors, no Dismember or anything else really.

Without Mana Crypt, Mox Diamond, Mana Vault, Fellwar Stone, Mind Stone, Lotus Petal, or Chrome Mox type effects, you can't legitimately expect to pull a win with this deck at a competitve table, and your card draw is just horrendous.

At least I would suggest you do the courtesy of running your good tutors, Demonic Tutor, Vampiric Tutor, Imperial Seal and Grim Tutor (some decks don't need Grim Tutor), along with Necropotence for draw and Ad Nauseam + Angel's Grace for the draw your deck.

May I ask about you landbase?

Commonly, for a competitive deck, the usually 2-color landbase looks like:

Ancient Tomb and Gemstone Caverns (the extra ramp lands)

Scrubland and Godless Shrine (the fetchable duals in your colors)

Windswept Heath, Bloodstained Mire, Polluted Delta, Flooded Strand, Verdant Catacombs, Arid Mesa, and Marsh Flats (the 7 fetchlands in your colors.)

City of Brass, Mana Confluence, Caves of Koilos, Fetid Heath, Concealed Courtyard, Command Tower, Forbidden Orchard, Exotic Orchard, Reflecting Pool, Gemstone Caverns, and Tarnished Citadel (the 11 unfetchable duals in your colors)

Cavern of Souls and Phyrexian Tower (the useful utility lands of your deck)

1xPlains and 6xSwamp

This 31 card landbase is fully tuned and optimized for a competitive deck, why does yours not run the rest of the good fetches, and all of the good duals?

To be entirely honest, I don't think this is a bad deck, and don't want to offend you or your deck-building skills, but I would hope you drop the "competitive" tag or change the deck a lot, it is mis-leading as it is.

If you want any deck-building advice on how to make this deck competitive, I suggest heading on over to Why Every Commander is Competitive and learning from that resource I set up for new players to cEDH.
