Footlight Fiend

Creature — Devil

When Footlight Fiend dies, it deals 1 damage to any target (creature, player, planeswalker or battle).

I'm going to assume that you don't really want suggestions for anything to pricey, if this is wrong I can offer some different suggestions.

I could be wrong, but I've always felt like Lyzolda really likes low to the ground creatures that are both Red and Black, here are a few that seem worth a look. Rakdos Cackler and Footlight Fiend are 1 drops that are Red/Black. There is also Manaforge Cinder, which can help fix your mana. I second adding Anathemancer, it seems like a great fit here. Charforger might be interesting, it makes a token and has a possibly useful effect. I'm not sure if you often go through 5 creatures in a turn, if you can Lagomos, Hand of Hatred is a neat tutor that makes fodder each turn. Mahadi, Emporium Master seems really good in here. It might be too slow to matter, but Pyre Zombie is a recursive Black/Red creature. Shambling Remains can come back one time.

Tor Wauki the Younger seems like it has good synergy, offering a pinger that improves non-combat damage. Another big card that probably would do some work in here is Rite of the Raging Storm, this is a favorite card of mine for budget decks, anyone who can't reliably block the 5/1s will get massacred, and you get free fodder if the tokens aren't worth swinging with.

Hope something there works out for you, I had some ideas that I had to cut because of Obosh, but I think Obosh is probably worth the tradeoff.

I took out Ravenous Demon  Flip, Scroll of Griselbrand, and Smoldering Crater, and added in Manaforge Cinder, Rakdos Cackler, and Footlight Fiend. I think this will improve the deck. Thanks for the advice!

I found my Rite of the Raging Storm and popped it in there! I am contemplating replacing the high CMC demons with cheap red creatures to maximize my ability to ping using Lyzolda's sacrifice-a-red-creature ability. I do really like the suggestion to add Rakdos Cackler, Manaforge Cinder, and Footlight Fiend which are all both red and black so they can ping and draw at the same time.

Basilisk Collar seems like it'd be pretty good with Lyzolda, she can then remove target creature by sacrificing any red creature (and you gain 2 life). Note 100% on this, but I really like Mask of Griselbrand in a deck that has creatures dying regularly. Mask is really, really good with Rite of the Raging Storm, which was reprinted recently and is amazing value in most metas, on top of which you can just sacrifice the Elemental to Lyzolda before it dies, too bad it's not also Black!

I wouldn't hesitate to run either Ashes to Ashes or Reckless Spite over something like Assassinate. I also would think about Chaos Warp to deal with any permanent that can be targeted.

Not 100% if they're worth it, but Rakdos Cackler, Manaforge Cinder and Footlight Fiend are each small bodies that offer you some utility on a 1 drop while also offering you 1 drops that are both Red and Black.

Not sure if you run into a lot of problematic artifacts, but Viashino Heretic seems really funny with Obosh and some high MV artifacts.

It's pretty pricey, but I'm not sure if there are many better fits for this deck than Ophiomancer, 2 mana to draw an extra card on each player's turn isn't bad value, and you still can block with the 1/1 Deathtouch if necessary (it mostly deters people in my experience). There is also Ogre Slumlord that makes 1/1 Deathtouch tokens, but you need to be killing other people's creatures to make it truly work, though just getting a Rat whenever you sacrifice one of your non-tokens might be good enough.

Very fun Commander IMHO, and always neat to see someone bother with a Companion, pinging is strong enough to be interesting without being obnoxious, and getting built in card draw seems really strong.

Have you.considered Everlasting Torment? It'll be especially useful against indestructible creatures. You could replace Tibalt and 1 Skullcrack for this. If Tibalt is partly there for the devil creatures, then I would recommend adding Footlight Fiend.

At some point you'll have to choose between casting Bump in the Night from the graveyard or exiling it to.cast Necropolis Fiend. This is why I recommend replacing BitN With Bonfire of the Damned. Paid for its miracle cost its practically a board wipe.

And I concur about Soul-Scar Mage.

I hope this helps. Happy Hunting!

Abilities don't happen at exactly the same time. They can trigger at the same time, but you have to put them on the stack in some order, and then you resolve things from the top of the stack, one at a time. In this case where you control one and your brother controls the other, the person whose turn it is will put theirs on the stack first (and have it resolve last). Whichever creature blocked will have its effect happen first.

Either way though, Omniscience_is_life is right. You have to pick the target for Footlight Fiend's death trigger when it goes on the stack, before Hunted Witness has made its token, so you can't kill it with the trigger.

Hi, My brother and I often have this doubt when playing together:

If Footlight Fiend and Hunted Witness go to combat and they both die, they both have effects when they die, Footlight Fiend deals one damage to any target and Hunted Witness creates a token. As I understand, both effects take at the same time, so would the 1 damage from the Footlight Fiend be able to target the new token from Hunted Witness and kill it?

Thank you in advance!

The last known characteristic(s) of the creature would be checked, so unless Footlight Fiend somehow lost Deathtouch before it died it would still count as such.
