There is a great 50$ pauper deck from 6 years ago that kind of does a similar thing to mill/discard Ulamog's Crusher and then Exhume it. It uses Gurmag Angler and Hooting Mandrills as a backup. You should check it out: hasty crusher on turn 2.

Since you are not limited by pauper, you could exhume Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hungeror Goryo's Vengeance it on the end of your opponents turn.

Well, wow... this deck. One of the first pauper decks I ever built, and basically forgotten about until now. Thanks for your interest everybody, you've all inspired me to finally take a second/third/fourth/whatever look at it. I hope you all like the outcome! Let me know your honest thoughts! =D

Mechanon: Sorry for the late response, but I'm glad you like what you see, and I hope you like the new version just as much.

Cheerful_Zucchini: Great advice, all around. As for Hooting Mandrills and Winding Way, well... can you believe I'm out of spare copies, lol! For now I'm using Seek the Wilds and one each of Goblin War Party and Gnaw to the Bone as placeholders. I also researched all the 1-drop tramplers in pauper again, and these still currently look like the best ones... that I also actually own in my collection.

Balaam__: LOL, I feel like Prison Mike thinks he likes this, but if he ever actually experienced it, like with most things, he would just revert to baby-talk.

Goblinking81: I had not before, but it's not a bad idea. Being an artifact creature is actually good because it doesn't require a specific color on Turn 1. If my two new pet-cards (Goblin War Drums and Gnaw to the Bone) don't work out, I'll try that next. I could see that as a good two-of in this deck. Thanks a lot!

You don't need so much bloodrush. Bring bloodrush down to like 6-10 cards and cut scryb sprites, they aren't doing you any good. Your evasion coming from trample is definitely better than flying. I don't see why fling is in here thrice... seems like more of a backup plan to me. Hooting Mandrills should definitely be here as well as Winding Way as a 4-off. I don't know if you're running the best possible creatures but it looks alright. Overall I like the idea but 15 bloodrush creatures is a lot. Cool brew :)

3> Ahhh I've been wanting to play with Obosh, the Preypiercer and Angrath's Marauders - glad you found a spot for them. While you're at it, you could also consider other "damage doublers" such as Wound Reflection and Fiendish Duo. I've thought about a Vial-Smasher deck with a White partner just to add Gisela, Blade of Goldnight.

3> I see you enjoy big monsters and X-spells here. Oh to be young again... but seriously, this seems like a good deck to play them in as you would be rewarded. Instants are your friend, as you can Smash Vials on everyone's turn! No Comet Storm?

3> I would be worried about Vial-Smasher getting nuked from orbit as soon as your turn passes and it's no longer indestructible. You'll find Heroic Intervention and Slippery Bogbonder will help with targeted Exile removal. You already have Destroy and Sacrifice covered I see.

3> I see some cost-reduced and commander-free spells in there, but you have a limited suite. While doing research for my thoughts on Vial-Smasher, I found the following might be helpful - list is just copy/paste, so it will include some White and/or Blue cards:

Hi DoktaDakka and thanks! This is definitely one of my favourite decks as well. Many people underestimate how powerful this deck can be.

I think that with Wild Mongrel, Vampire Hounds and Tortured Existence I have enough discard effects that I don't need Putrid Imp. The imp is good when you want to discard something important on Turn 1 or 2, but aside from Basking Rootwalla there's nothing really worth discarding that early in the game. It's an okay option for Exhume decks, but otherwise we're all set with our discard engine.

In terms of Hooting Mandrills, I honestly have never tried them. The deck can always use more cheap beaters, but what would you replace them with? Crypt Rats maybe?

As for TE targets, you'll still find them mostly in the sideboard. Caustic Caterpillar, Spore Frog, Thrull Surgeon, Faerie Macabre and more Crypt Rats are meant to shore up any weaknesses while synergizing well with TE. What other Toolbox cards am I missing? Maybe I could find space for them somewhere.

Thanks again for the comment!

first off, really like leaning into the energy theme i like the deck fitting into a jund shell

may i suggest 2 Ifnir Deadlands

also the deck looks like it may have issues dealing with pws so maybe 1-2 of either Never/Return, Angrath's Rampage or Eliminate

lastly the deck could do a little more to us the gy, either Tasigur, the Golden Fang or if that out of budget even Hooting Mandrills (which can be pretty difficult to deal with on his own.

id also recommend another Chandra, Acolyte of Flame or 2 if the budget can fit it,(been running her as a budget snapcaster in a grixis tempo list and her with blightning, duress and rampage she dose a very good lilly impression (if a little more mana intensive)

My thinking is that you can remove the Ouphes combo with the Ivy Lanes and add 3 Hooting Mandrills or Timberwatch Elf, 1 Skygames and 4 Commune with the Gods

I also still think that Rancor would be awesome on the Mandrils and other creatures since trample can be a powerful tool to have against stuff like elf decks.

If your focused on keeping the Ouphe combo you might want to consider shifting the deck into some sort of Tron shell since you need so much mana. Adding Expedition Map to grab the bounce lands may also be a good way to ramp.
