Primer - Kaalia of The Vast EDH Aggro

Introduction

Welcome to my Kaalia of the Vast EDH Primer on TappedOut, and my first primer! I started playing MTG in 2015 and have many decks since. I have twelve commander decks, but she is my favorite commander by far, because she is so fast. Plus, I get to put so many cool promo foil cards in the deck! :P Kaalia is completely broken, and can win extremely quickly. This deck aims to defeat your opponents with this fast-paced aggro deck by dropping massive angels, demons, and dragons from your hand with Kaalia of the Vast! (This deck is budget-ish!)

Artifacts

Kaalia needs to be protected from opponent's removal, so that’s why Lightning Greaves is in the deck. In my opinion, it should go in almost every deck. Elbrus, the Binding Blade   is in the deck because it fits with the angel, demon, and dragon theme, and it is really fun to play. Sol Ring, Boros Signet, Orzhov Signet, Rakdos Signet, Worn Powerstone, and Chromatic Lantern are the artifact ramp to this deck.

Enchantments

Stranglehold is pretty much so your opponents can’t tutor for board wipes or anything that will stop Kaalia. Phyrexian Arena is one of the best black cards ever, and pretty much has to go in every deck with black in it. It is a great source of card draw, and without blue, this is one of the best ways to draw cards in Mardu. Aggravated Assault is crazy in the deck, because it allows you to cheat out more massive creatures with Kaalia, and deal a ton of damage. Sunbird's Invocation, is a really fun card in the deck, because it allows your big angels, demons, and dragons to get more angels, demons, and dragons!

Planeswalkers

At first I debated whether to put any planeswalkers in the deck at all, but I realized that these can be major wincons for the deck. When you have massive angels, demons, and dragons as blockers, people won’t attack your planeswalkers, allowing them to ultimate. I have every single Sorin in the deck (aside from the rare version). Sorin Markov is completely broken in commander! Ajani Vengeant, and Huatli, Warrior Poet were tossed in to be annoying, and possibly game ending.

Instants and Sorceries

Instants: Enlightened Tutor is in the deck to mainly get Phyrexian Arena or Aggravated Assault. Crackling Doom is a super cool card that acts as a mini board wipe. It is good in many situations, is one of my favorite cards, and is way too underrated. The rest of the instants are removal. Sorceries: Demonic Tutor and Diabolic Tutor are in the deck to tutor for the best cards in the deck, like Avacyn, Angel of Hope, and Aurelia, the Warleader. Dreadbore and Rakdos's Return, and are my sorcery speed removal.

Creatures

The deck has 30 angels, demons, and dragons. The best of those are Aurelia, the Warleader, Gisela, Blade of Goldnight, Archfiend of Despair, and Avacyn, Angel of Hope to name a few. Iona, Shield of Emeria just got banned and I an super annoyed about that, because she was a win condition in the deck. Too bad Griselbrand is banned too! There are only 5 non-angel, demon, or dragon creatures in the deck. Iroas, God of Victory is in the deck because he makes all creatures have menace which is super good with your massive creatures, because it forces them to either block and lose creatures, or take a ton of damage. Ilharg, the Raze-Boar is in the deck because he is like the un-broken version of Kaalia, and a good backup. Mother of Runes is in the deck to protect Kaalia. Odric, Lunarch Marshal is great in the deck because it lets your creatures share their abilities. Ogre Battledriver is in the deck, because he makes your creatures hasty and bigger.

How You Win

You either win through good old-fashioned combat damage or through locking out players with the planeswalkers.
